We need to start fundraising to help pet owners keep their pets. It winds up being cheaper and the pets and humans less traumatized.
That a fantastic idea also we need to have to set up a petition to bring down the vet costs drugs the animals take and the cost for check ups.

Our local shelter has a program that helps families with food for their pets which I think is great. My daughter and I donate all of the time to the shelter
In my country, there’s such a thing. You can get aid with vet costs. My vet also does days of free petcare. Everytime my dogs get their shots I can buy an extra shot for someone with a very low income, etc. At our local shelter, you can financially adopt a dog or cat so the dog or cat can stay with their owners (mostly senior citizens). My husband has put his foot down and insists three dogs is his maximum so I did the financially adoptance thing. The fourth dog is a little yorkie who has an elderly owner recently widowed. He does the morning and midday walk and I come and get the little Yorkie for the evening walk with my other dogs. Owner pleased with some extra hands (scared in the evening as a senior), I get to cuddle an extra dog and the little one stays in his own known place with his loving owner. The shelter also has a buddysystem in which they couple volunteers for dog walks or taxidriving to the vets with people who are senior citizens or have fallen ill. My mom is such a buddy, she feels she’s too old for another dog (the dog surviving her) but she loves to walk with dogs. Everybody happy.
@@ikkelimburg3552 What wonderful programs for the animals *and* the humans! America is supposed to be "the best" in many ways, but in my honest opinion, this country is super backwards and "out of touch" on so many issues, especially those related to helping financially where it's most needed. Hopefully, people will really wake up and realize we're all we've got and we need to work together to make the world a better place instead of just complaining about how bad things are getting/have gotten/are going to be. People like Dr. Scott and those who work/volunteer for rescues are definitely walking the walk and not just talking the talk.
I had a “special needs” rescue kitten that was oxygen deprived @ birth. I told the vet if he could eat/move about and wee/poo I would not put him down. He was THE most adorable loving cat who lived for 10yrs.
We're the lucky family welcoming Fendi & Maggie into our home. We're picking them up on Thursday and we can't wait!

The shelters make it so difficult for people to adopt dogs. Can’t be over 60, have to have a garden with a 6ft fence, musnt walks dogs where other dogs walk, must be the only pet, shouldn’t have many visitors, children not to visit, - it’s ridiculous. Then they euthanise dogs because they can’t home them, it makes me sick. We fail all these criteria’s but managed to adopt 2 working cocker spaniels aged 9 and 6 because nobody else wanted them, we were lucky. People are forced to buy puppies because they can’t adopt.
Unfortunately, you are right on this. These shelters can be too picky at the risk of depriving the dog of any chance of survival. They would rather kill it than give it to someone. Life is a risk.
I couldn’t adopt a guinea pig from a rescue because I didn’t have a cage in the garden for them… despite my piggies being indoor animals with no need for an outdoor cage. I met every other criteria and had adopted from them in the past. It was a huge shame as I would have loved to adopt one. The worker was even so impressed with my piggy knowledge she said I would be an amazing worker there and even end up in a higher position… but I still wasn’t allowed to adopt…?
I agree adopting is costly also 300 to 400$ later you, you have a pet, to surrender it cost money and made to feel absolutely terrible for doing it. You find a animal in pain lost and homeless and they look at you thinking its your pet and all you are doing is saving them, i dont like dealing with shelters, some are not nice to the owners or volunteers, or people who try to save them, 3days later you find out they have put it down.
That's crazy. Here in the US they have seniors for seniors programs, no limit on pets, fence mandates unless it's a pittie, German Shephard or the like. That's way too limiting 😢
The story about the dog I wanted was an old couple advertising that they needed a home for their 4 year old dog it had already been neutered it was big it wasn't going to get adopted and they needed a home for it that dog had received all the medical care and vaccinations and everything from that loving family the owners were just too old for its energy anymore at the last minute they turned it over to a shelter because when I called immediately it was a shelter that answered and they wanted $700 for doing nothing not even for 2 days. That dog did not find a home he was too big and I had a 50-year reference for my veterinarian for my dog. Some of the bad shelters operate on tax-free donations and would not even hand over a dog that's going to be euthanized for free
All my dogs over a period of 35 yrs or so all came from Battersea , 6 yrs ago I lost my boy who was the blood that ran though my veins but the next day I went to Battersea to rescue another dog and got turned down immediately even though I still lived in the same property my whole life and even had 5 acres of my own land for the horses so there was plenty of space for running etc so I went and brought my puppy privately as the other rescues all had the same attitude and since then I’ve rescued from Romania .
Vetinary bills are outrageous. My daughter has been saving for weeks so she can take her little dog to the vets for an ear infection. So it's not just feeding the dog, but she adores her little man. Charlie is more like her comfort dog that helps her with her anxiety. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

That "have" to ? Plz explain to me in which situation you'd 'have to' ?? Because if no one could ever make u give up your child for whatever reason what reason could there be for your dog? Because to most they're our babies and we treat them as part of the family...If you're not prepared to do that you're not prepared for a pet simple as that
I mean moving home isn't a good enough excuse landlord won't accept pets excuse...Well I would rather be homeless tbh. So what about landlords that say no pets or children you wouldn't put ur kid up for adoption and say yea well they didn't accept kids so y is it suitable for dogs?🤔 not sure what other excuses there are, 🤔 money is tight...Well you do what u can don't you just do your best even steal dog food if need be beg borrow or steal ...so what excuses do u find acceptable?
People make choices and unfortunately it ends up being to the detriment of the animal. For the homeless, their dog comes first.
I’m in BC Canada have to say we have waitlist of people looking to adopt. The only animals left in shelters are not easily adopted. Like dangerous dogs or one that require expensive medical care or the really old. Our shelters are no kill shelters. We end up brining in dogs from Mexico in what has reintroduced Parvovirus after we had eradicated the virus .

people give up children every day. There are adoption and fosters program all over the 🌎 world . Nobody should ever shame anybody for having to make that very difficult decision to re-home their pet.
There is no such thing as fortune telling or predicting the future. Sometime the pet is better off to somebody with more time and money to care for the pet. Having to surrender an animal is a walk of shame and guilt already . Your attitude is only adding salt to an already wounded person. That’s not compassion at all. That’s the inability to see or walk in someone’s shoes. Narrow minded .
It’s shaming people for this that leads to dumping them off in woods or places to be lost or found that’s really sad. Some found emaciated because it’s taboo to surrender one because of people like you that judge.
I re-homed a dog myself to a couple because I had small children and she was beautiful sweet dog I couldn’t handle . She was a husky. They live to run and for me is was bad judgement to get her not realizing what she needed to be happy I couldn’t give.
She wanted to run everyday and would take off. I could not provide that as a mom with small. Kids. So she went to a athletic couple on larger property. I got to see her now and again. She was very healthy and happy and loved and the people were grateful to me forever.
As hard as that was for me. I was doing what was best for her. She was still a puppy. Now my kids are grown I never forgot her. I have Labradors now. I live 7 minutes to the beach on acres and afford everything they need including paid training vet care pet insurance and a quality diet. They are my children. But please never shame people for this. Humans are humans and we all make mistakes .
I’m in Canada where we have the opposite situation. Our shelters have waitlists of people waiting to adopt.
I find I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the education, perspective, and vigorous empathy you provide. It is a joy to watch you work.

I don't understand why it is legal to breed dogs for profit when there is such a huge problem of unwanted dogs and healthy dogs are being euthanized. We will really know that we have turned the corner as a species when we take care of the dogs, cats, horses etc. (and children for that matter) who are already born. Thank you for doing such amazing work for these animals at your shelter.
They are still in business because there are people who buy from them. Instead of making laws, we need to use social pressure to convince people to adopt from shelters and re-homes instead of buying from breeders. It irks me to see videos of people saying "I got a cat!" and to see they bought it from a breeder, when there are literally hundreds of unwanted cats in shelters. Very selfish.

For sure all puppy mills should be illegal. They are quite unnecessary. There should be laws making puppy mills a crime. It's cruelty and the wrong sort of people run them for maximum profit. Yes the public who insist on a pure breed are also to blame the add to the cruelty.
Backyard breeders are a menace. They breed dogs like the two pups that could barely breathe. If the dog is unsellabe, they dump it at a shelter.
@@catherinelw9365 I've had dogs all my life and after my last dog passed away at age 18, I was on 3 shelter lists and filled all the criteria and was more than willing to adopt an older dog with issues, limited only by living in an apartment however with a large dog walking park right next to us. After 2 years of waiting I did buy a puppy from a family. If shelters are going to make adoption prohibitive then one has no other recourse. My cat is a rescue cat and they love each other very much. If you've had better luck, that's wonderful and I am well aware of the crisis post-pandemic so all the more tragic that where I live shelters make adoption so difficult.

The unaffordable cost of vet bills is driving some families to give away their animals. Good that there is an investigation into these fees.
I’ve been saying for years the vets is far to expensive,it was never this expensive before dogs became a fashion accessory I also believe that programs like this encourage people to get an animal but these programs never tell you just how much these procedures cost, also why don’t Vets do a monthly fee for payments? This is why I think there are so many animals in shelters because the families have to give up loved animals because of cost, the families loss out but specially the animals losing their homes over extraordinary costs
It really should be like mechanics-parts plus labor.
Many vets have expensive rents/leases in expensive areas -!: are trying to pay their staff enough while paying themselves enough to pay back college and vet school loans, get a house, start a family…
I think the expense is related to expensive high tech equipment and how vets are used just like doctors are, for the benefit of big pharma more than for the bene fit of pets. Pushing expensive new drugs, which are patented (hence expensive) and ignoring tried & true old meds, (not longer under patent, so more reasonably priced). Plus every vet would like to have the premier clinic in any area & sees a big investment as OK. People need to make fewer demands in terms of fancy clinics when it isnt necessary. Then there is general inflation. Im retired & struggling because the food that helps her skin condition just jumped over $20 per 30 lb. bag and it was already high end. I have been postponing veterinary care. 1. Because I believe over vaccination is jot good for her. But also as an economy measure. I'd hate to ever have to give her up.
Both veterinary surgeons and dentists require massively more equipment than they did back in the 1960s or 1970s. (G.P.s have gone down a different route but, if you remember, back then, they pretty much used to be able to carry everything they needed with them in the famous "doctor's bag".)
As vets perform more complex procedures, they also need more staff - back in the day vets would anaesthetise the animal themselves, then carry out the procedure. These days there will usually be a veterinary nurse monitoring the anaesthetic on a variety of equipment and assisting with aspects of the surgery. The veterinary nurse needs a considerable amount of training in their own right.
The staff, the equipment and the medications are expensive. The equipment and the medications may be overpriced - it's definitely the case that the equipment and the medications are overpriced for human medical and dental care. But that's not something the veterinary surgeon can change.
So I understand why people think veterinary care is too expensive. But I also understand why it is so expensive.
The best I can suggest is that you get a plan of some sort or insurance (also expensive but definitely helps with veterinary bills).

The US rescue center and humane societies ARE IN CRSIS AS WELL. Ours have financial supporters and volunteers but the sheer numbers of dogs that are being born and end up in these centers is phenomenonal. I rescued a Lab/Staffordshire Terrier in July 2021 who came from a HORRID rescue center down south (lousinna/USA) She was between 1 1/2 to 2 years old and had spent her entire life in a crate in a kennel in a warehouse with 200+ other dogs that had never has their feet on the grass, been out in the sunshine or had never experienced the common sight and sounds of modern life. She came to us fearful, reactive and has needed extensive rehabilitation and training. Her former home was in a dog fighting culture where dogs were rountinely used either as fighting dogs or bate, 2 1/2 years later and 7 hours of professional dog training our Ginger Rogers has pretty much adapted to modern life and is a loving, sweet girl who had bonded with me and now has a loving home.
You are a good soul, thank you for rescueing Ginger Rogers. We also have 9 dogs that we have rescued from the streets and a few from horrible former owners. God bless you.
Here where I live in Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦 it’s just as bad. However, the dogs, cats, rabbits are being tossed in the trash.. thrown on the streets.. cats especially. It’s heartbreaking! 💔 I had to stop volunteering as my health is not good and it took a huge emotional toll on me. I’m currently trying to find an acreage to move out to and maybe I can foster more! The rental crisis seems to be worldwide. It infuriates me that a few bad tenants (we’ve all heard the stories of more damage than the security deposit could possibly cover) have spoiled things for people who just need a place to live with their pets. Add in the exhorbitant rents and moving in expenses, even in public housing, and it’s no surprise that there are so many homeless people and animals everywhere.
The afghan that Skylar is wrapped in for her reiki treatment is gorgeous. There’s a lot of work in the stitches.
Iris has SO much potential with the right forever home. She's smart, responsive to treats and positive reinforcement, and focused (mostly) on the human at the other end of the leash. She's just like the dogs that I have adopted over the years, all of whom have been rescued from situations of neglect, abandonment, and abuse (including one case of severe abuse). Like Iris, all of my dogs just wanted one thing: to be shown what they needed to do to get love and treats, and ALL of my dogs (including the severely abused one) became loving, well socialized companions. I hope Iris gets adopted.
I just took in one more. I take pitbulls no one wants. Foster st first. Saw how smart she was. She has to stay with me. Some can't get through puppy stuff. I'm ready. 3 yr old sis is happy. They don't know we're poor. But happy!!

Amen, here in Texas where I live, it is the highest euthanasia rate because of overpopulation and the media is not spreading the word which I think should be in the news, newspaper, TV, bulletin boards (advertising is free for animal shelter) I donate to my local shelter and four rescue groups. Last week, I took dog food, treats out to our local shelter. Met the kitty lady in the parking lot and this is the season she gets the most kittens. So back to the pet store to get cat food for adults,kitten food wet and hard, milk replacement and the nursing kit with syringes to feed the kitties. It is all over the US and I encourage all to support their local shelter, encourage your city councils, governors, senate and house of representatives to support the animal of their states and the federal laws.
I hope Skylar finds an owner that is calm and caring to spend time with him like the reiki lady.

As a hard truth I think people underestimate how much effort it can be to train a dog. For my pup it was 1-1,5 yrs of everyday training. I was so stressed during the first year. Now she's 2yrs and the hard work has paid off massively.

It's nice to be understanding but I do think many people are lacking empathy and compassion, and COMMITMENT to another fellow sentient being....we humans have some growing and evolving to become more conscious of other species right to be here on this planet, and have healthy and peaceful lives. 💟

How about food banks for pets to help enable families to keep their pets?
Where I live in the USA, there are pet pantries and many of the shelters and humane societies give food to people who need it for their pets. But food isn't the only issue. There is also vet care and in the United States there is a parasite called heartworm. Dogs need to be on preventative and sadly it is expensive.

Veterinary care is so expensive, & I’m from a family that can ACTUALLY AFFORD to pay for it!!! There needs to be an investigation into these costs because more & more families are losing their beloved pets to the costs of veterinary care & it’s heartbreaking! 💔
Yea. My vet quoted me $800 for a spay here in the US. Not financially feasable.

@@P2Zip It's not vets' fault (medical training, treatment, and equipment is expensive). It's all part of much bigger societal problems regarding wages not keeping up with the cost of living. I got a routine service and all four tyres replaced on my car a couple months ago here in Australia and it cost me the equivalent of US$500, which was most of that fortnight's disability pension payment. The working class in the whole Western world is in the middle of a cost-of-living disaster; there's only so much that we can tighten our belts before we start running out of belt.

We have always adopted rescue dogs & I know first hand the awful Vet bills,I'm blessed & grateful that I can afford to pay my Vet bills, over the years I've spent over £5000 on my one little dog Henry again I'm so thankful to be able to pay. Vet bills are extortionate it's £ 56 just to say hello to our Vet. Awful Awful for owners & their pets who end up being signed over & God forbid being put to sleep. Totally heart breaking.
I feel the rescue centers everywhere are in a very big crisis because of the cost of living has become outrageous! I pray every day about this. I have no idea what can be done or if there really is anything that can be done! We all need to pray 🙏 🙏🙏

Blessings to the volunteers!!! When my daughter was an early teenager, she decided it was too difficult for her to find a job, so I decided she would go along with me to volunteer at the local SPCA!!! I had already been volunteering there along with my full-time day job. I appreciated her help as did the animals, and I think it left an indelible mark on her as a grateful human!!
We live in the US, where there are similar biases. All but one of our dogs have been rescues and the Boxer we bought in a moment of stress and weakness turned out to have hemorrhaging colitis…easily fixed with a change in diet…brilliant dog. And most have been over 60lbs…many with black faces. Don’t get the bias against them. They were all just wonderful members of our family. Fell in love with Skyler. Too bad she’s in the UK…we’ve had several dogs with special needs and I’m disabled now and a dog who wants to stay inside most of time would be wonderful. My current, older companion is a Bassett Hound and a total couch potato…as long as he doesn’t spot a bunny, which he wants to hunt. Always outside on a long lead for the protection of our many wild bunnies and his safety.
Seems the shelters everywhere are under great strain. No surprise incapable humans took on pets during the you know what, everyone at home needing to affirm themselves through a dog and now cannot maintain the lifestyle nor afford the cost of a pet. Grrr... so pissed. I feel better watching how much love you all have for these beautiful special doggies.

It really is my go-to exercise for any kind of reactivity, it is so simple, so effective, a way to reinforce instead of punishing, and so easy to learn! I wonder if someone could establish a pet food donation closet to help out those owners who love their pets but can't afford to feed them. For people who give up their pets due to moving to a rental that won't allow them, maybe the rescue could ask them to volunteer a few hours per week to walk and socialize the pets until a permanent home can be found.

They have food banks in my area, but I have cats with special diets so it didn't help me.
We need vets in Canada to lower fees so people can afford to rescue dogs or other kinds of animals to love and maintain a forever home for animals.

I wish I could fly in & adopt Iris but I always need more than one pupper & she’s dog averse. (even though that’s fixable) She’s so gorgeous! I pray someone sees this & adopt her soon! (If she hasn’t already been adopted)
Thank you for not shaming the dog parents. I found myself in a similar situation at one point and had to re-home our sweet girl due to a divorce and me trying to find a place for me and my two sons that would also take a dog. Thankfully we did find a loving home for her but we were heartbroken.

Hi Scott, watching from Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺 Thank you for addressing the heartbreaking situation in shelters in the UK but also across the world including here in Australia. The cost of living and rental crisis here is awful and many people are struggling to find a home that will allow pets 😞 Our family has rented for 25 years as pet owners and have always been able to bring our pets with every move but now there are so few properties available it is a frightening situation when you have to move. Unfortunately many are forced to give up their very loved pets to be able to find a new property. Loved the show and look forward to many more.

@@Lauren-vd4qe Thanks for judging 😞 Yes only my husband has worked for the majority as we have three children spaced 5 years between each child. After my first child was born almost 25 years ago we chose for me to stay home and raise our child. I tried to go back to my old job part time but my employer wouldn’t allow that. You had to go back to your original hours which was full time. I would have been working to pay childcare and we still wouldn’t have been able to buy a house. Housing prices have continued to rise so every time we have thought we were almost able the prices increased again.

That Anatolian is a livestock guardian dog who are hardwired to protect property and all who lives there. Outside their territory they really do not mind other dogs.
I work for a small local independent rescue centre and the amount of stray cats and dogs coming in has increased. There has been a few hoarding situations too which has been usual. Our rabbit waiting list is pretty extensive and sadly, we have seen cases of people releasing their rabbits into the wild 😢. Most animals aren’t neutered or vaccinated and our vet bills have increased considerably, we’ve had a fair few BOAS surgeries too.
Thankfully we are re-homing cats and dogs fairly well but rabbits are very slow.
Our message is ‘adopt, don’t shop’, rescues want to help as many animals as they can but can only do that if people adopt from them
We need puppy farming outlawed ASAP
It's heart breaking to see little Scarlett if this rescue centre wasn't here what would happen to the dogs also their are 400 dogs on the wating.l list.to come to the centre because people cant.afford to keep them mabye some.one with a kind heart could open dog food bank also vets are too expensive mabye.the vets in the area could offer special rates what a nice guy Scott is

Those restrictions are too severe, bit ridiculous. Dogs can live in apartments with no Gardens with owners over 60, There would be no dogs in New York , London. Etc.

I love Dr Scott he is amazing I'm also an aussie and I live not far from where Dr Scott was born. Unfortunately we have the same problem here in Australia, I have many rescue animals, I don't breed them they come here for love and affection and get very spoilt
This was an interesting, emotional and eye opening watch 400 animals on the waiting list 😮. I knew things were bad but not that bad 😢
I know everyone has different circumstances but I could never give up my dog whatever happened he is my life and part of the family 🐶❤️. The centre and all the staff are absolute legends 👏🏻👏🏻❤️
The blend of the financial situation and, people who took on dogs during lockdown & then wanted to give them up after, have both have added to a difficult position. Unscrupulous single dog breeders wanting the big pay days, are in the mix too. We need a clear message on spaying and neutering. I wouldn’t give my cat up though. The rescues are amazing but can only do so much ❤

Skyler broke my heart, if I was in the UK I would take her. The faces on the mom and daughter are precious. iris is an Anatolian? My Harlow is a Pyrenees /Anatolian. She is beautiful! I am in rual Texas, the vets are not an expensive as back in the metroplex, thank heavens. We have 12 on our property, one of which was bitten Sunday night by a rattlesnake. He is home and a little loopy as he is on gabapentin.

Surely there has to be a compromise? Families are giving up pets because they cannot afford their medical and health needs, which means the sanctuary then has to house feed and provide those medical & health procedures FREE. Why not, provide those same procedures at a small charge to the pet parent or in some circumstances free, if it means the pet gets to stay home with a loving family instead of taking up a bed that could be used for an unwanted or stray animal, wouldn't that make more sense?
The same goes for feeding these animals, the cost of feeding these animals is 100% the responsibility of the sanctuary, if a family is struggling to afford the cost of feeding a pet, why not provide food to these families at a small charge if it means the pets get to stay with their families. That way, instead of the sanctuary providing a home, food and medical for the pets at their own cost, they would instead be freeing up beds, keeping loved pets in loving homes AND receiving a small income for the food and medical they would otherwise be providing anyway. Which in turn would free up beds & help reduce the waiting list.
You could even have an arrangement where receivers of cheap medical care and food, give their time one day a month to work with the pets or walk dogs, providing more "free" voluntary help & a community of pet lovers, carers and pet families, all in one.

It would work for a one of medical expense but is not feasible for long term health issues or food. The idea of bringing the dogs in is to get them adopted asap so the rescue isn’t paying for them anymore. The cost of paying for health care/ food etc. for dogs to allow them to stay in their original homes + the cost of caring for all the dogs that do have to come into the rescue would very quickly become too much.
@M011y. isn't convinced this would work, and they have some sound reasons for thinking that way. At the same time, I think your (@michaleaghmalone-hansen5656) idea could, perhaps with some workshopping, be really good in some circumstances. I definitely hope someone tries to pick it up and run with it.
The compromise is affordable veterinary care from regular veterinarians, not putting *more* of the burden on rescues.
We're always making excuses for human beings who can't commit for the long term care and love of their dogs. Dogs are family and if they need food, that should be able to be done, if you are truly committed to your dogs. I'd rather go without food myself, then give up my dogs! I know Vet bills can be high, but the general vaccines and medical care should be able to be afforded, and I know that it is difficult for people to afford, and I understand..... In this day and age, is lack of commitment, responsibility, and the deep love that an animal needs, all to prevalent?...The overwhelming number of dogs and cats that need home is complicated, but truly, if you really love your animals, then you can figure out some of these problems so that you can keep your dogs, but do you really want them?? Caring for another being can really teach us so much about ourselves...Spay/neuter your pets, and adopt that's what's going to solve this problem. People have created the problem and now people should be able to open their hearts, and solve this problem. 400 dogs on the waiting list for this shelter, is tragically unbelievable!!
Hi your comment is perfect and I agree. We have 9 dogs that we rescued off the streets that were abandoned and a few from horrible cruel owners. All our dogs have been fixed. People want puppies and after they end up in the streets, it's terrible. Half my pension goes to the dogs and they all eat before we do, if not then I'm in stress, so my husband knows he has to wait. We love our dogs. People can do better and NOT just give them up.

I have two rescue dogs, and three rescue cats at the moment, and my life as a woman of 65, has been filled with shelter animals, and those memories are priceless and I can't imagine my life without them. After my last rescue dog passed, I was ready to rescue another. I went to so many rescues… The problem I encountered was their refusal to rehome with a cat, under any circumstance. Desperate for a dog I unfortunately had to resort to buying.
She’s the sweetest wee thing and so friendly, but if I could have rescued I would have.
But the stories I’ve heard of the, in some cases, ridiculous reasons for not re-homing has made me stop caring.
People paying monthly charity direct debit is great, but as soon as they ask for a rescue dog, it’s a no, people with no garden, having stairs… just crazy.
Love dogs and would love to see every one in a living home but some of these rescues don’t do themselves any favours by having overly strict rules. Or just a flat out no without question.
Iris seems to be location-protective. She was mostly good when out of her territory, but she was reactive at the gate to the dog that was in "her" space. Her Anatolian Shepherd heritage means that she came from livestock guardian dogs, so she's bred to be protective and reactive of her territory. So, they will be trying to train her to control those instincts, along with whatever hard knocks she took in her life prior to coming to the rescue.
Nicky and team at NCAR are realy doing theirs job with heart and i salute Dr Scott for his expertise to treat dogs and many more creatures. i belive within my heart Scott is one of many vet Drs bless by creator of this animals.i dont blame the shelters for high charges considering the outstanding service they provide dispite very low donations and only solution is for us to be more generous to donate more for the relief of owners and the their loving animals.and i think authority in charge must workout on reducing the animal breeding because at the end we witnessed the heartbreaking incidents of loyal animals get seperated from good owners just to die.i pray for all problems be solved..Love from Tanzania.

My Granddaughter Cait pony of a Dog Perry cross American Bulldog and Akita two stubborn breeds in one ... Thankfully she as got her with a trainer her first time with him he said for her breed she is very easy to train just had a visit and no jumping up on me especially since my cancer and and procedure she's a lot better behaved so gentle with me now and even my Shitz Bennington as stopped with trying to guard me from her 😂💜🐕🐕💜🙏💜

Fab show! This is my local pet rescue and had all our cats from there over the last 30+ years. We love their events - Christmas is a special time. Doris's bunker is fab food. When we downsized homes a few years back, NCAR were great at taking surplus stuff for their shops - every penny helps!
I understand circumstances do arise but frankly I would go with out and live on the streets.I would never ever ever give up my dogs!!!PERIOD ..I’m sorry BUT no freakin way I could give up and turn in a dog that gives Unconditional love to you that brightens your day these people give up too quick that hand their dogs in...
But then your dogs would just suffer with you. The people who give up their dogs due to bad circumstances are usually doing it for the right reasons and for the dog's sake. I would NEVER want to give up my dog but if he was going to suffer due to something like lack of money and I couldn't alleviate that soon then I would have to at least consider rehoming him. And trust me he's my baby, I probably would struggle to carry on without him but if he was going to suffer then yes I would rehome him

Instead of taking animals away from loving owners cause they can't afford surgery etc. Maybe instead of making shelters full maybe volunteer and help families with Healthcare so they can keep their animals
Best suggestion ever! That’s where charities should focus. Help with unbelievable veterinary cost and keep pets in their original home. Perhaps Scott should consider running a low cost clinic for those in need once a week or something. That’s what society really needs, not more videos.

When my 18 year old dog passed away in my arms I was willing to take any dog whether it was old or big any dog that needed love however in Canada it is incredible what you have to go through to adopt a homeless dog and it is incredible the amount of money you have to pay that is why my friend's dog is from Mexico and my sister's dog is from Iran we can't afford to save our own here in Canada
I Foster for Canadian rescue group. The prices are very reasonable considering the dogs are always neutered and spayed and all the vetting is done. Somebody had to pay the transport to get you that dog up from Mexico. Also, rescues need to be careful and not adopt to unsuitable homes. Just look at the rescues going into hoarders and taking dogs out and imagine if those hoarders were able to adopt dogs easily. Rescues want the dogs to go into forever homes.

Obviously I understand her insurance would be significantly more because she’s special needs and certain issues wouldn’t be covered but what else could be preventing her from getting a home ?
I really wish we could clear the shelters and make a plan to prevent such massive intakes of strays.
The rescues really are stretched to the limit and I’m seeing first hand the heartbreak as dogs are being pts due to lack of space,it’s so sad.

I think we need a few changes in UK. First people in rented flats should have the right to own an animal too. At the moment too many landlords don't give permission. Second, why do shelters insist on people having a garden. It should be more important that people understand that they have to take their dog out multiple times every day.
why wd u put a dog in a garden, they wd trample all the vegetable seedlings. better to put them in fenced yard, but not a garden.

Oh my goodness Skylar is beyond beautiful 😍 so sad she has her issues which may prevent her having a forever home. I have a frenchie and fortunately he has good nasal opening and has no issues breathing. Thank you Scott for their matching nose jobs ❤
Maybe they should stop making it sooooo difficult to adopt a rescue dog. My experience was unbelievable they wanted to know every bit of information almost like getting a job or a mortgage.
Maybe try another rescue? Here in the United States there are rescues that have varying levels of information requirements. They really want to make sure that the dog has a forever home and that's why they may ask about your previous dogs and your vet and what you would do in certain situations. Remember rescues have often put money time and love into these dogs.
Well they care about the animals and want to make sure that they'll be cared for properly and won't be put back up for adoption again because someone can't afford to keep them. They're just trying to do what's best for the animals.
It really depends on the rescue organization. I was frustrated when I wanted to adopt a cat 4 years ago. One organization wanted three references, no family members. But I found a shelter with a more reasonable application process, and got my little guy right before the pandemic hit.
