I think that June and Serena will be allies. If Luke is killed off I will be surprised. It is mentioned that Hannah meets her father in the end of the 2nd book. I will miss this show so much when it is off the air.

While watching SEASON ONE, I laughed when my wife said this could ACTUALLY happen here.
By the end of S5, I seriously wonder how (or IF) we actually dodged that bullet.
Dan and Wife: I agree with your wife. Here in America, the ultra religious church people TALK like this. Honestly, I think we're on the cusp. Even the Catholic Church acts like this now. My dad almost went crazy when I told him I might be a nun. He said, "Do not go to a Catholic college. Haven't you had enough of this? Widen your horizons!" My dad was RIGHT! I think I was being brainwashed: Catholic school 1-12. I do appreciate the nuns forcing me to study, though. I probably would have been a wild girl-heathen without them. My HS school was a distance away. I saw the nuns and priests way more than I saw my parents those 4 years. Personally, I think it was designed that way.

I agree 1000% and have been saying how the USA is heading towards a real life Gilead for 2 yrs now. All you have to do is open your eyes and it's in your face. When R v W was reversed it really brought it to life. I was one of those women who fought for R v W and to see women having to go back to those days is heartbreaking never mind terrifying. Young women don't remember those days but I sure do. A great old movie on the subject matter is If These Walls Could Talk with Cher, Sissy Spasek and Demi Moore. It takes you through 30 yrs of pre and pro R v W. It's actually on demand with HBO this month for free. Worth the watch.
My boyfriend and I are both totally hooked on The Handmaid's Tale. I bought the DVDs. We will be ecstatic to see season 5 when available, then finally, eventually, season 6. Wow! I remember reading the first book in the 80's when it came out. It terrified me. Sometimes now, I feel our country--perhaps even the world--could easily head in that dystopian direction. Margaret Atwood is a genius! Of course, I must also include the writers, actors, all, in fact who are working on this excellent show!

@Theodora Johanna Thuis Amazon has all 4 DVDs. 5 isn't out yet--at least I couldn't find it, and they haven't filmed 6 yet. My SO and I are loving ❤️ it. Some men might be bothered, but he's all for women's rights. I read the first book when I was in my 30's in the 80's when it first came out. Never read it again; it frightened me. I see many similar things happening in America now because of the power of the Evangelical and Right-wing religions. We were Catholics, but my parents weren't all nutty about religion, thank God. Many churches are hypocrites. The monsignor of our church thought my dad should sell him our property and boarding house for $20,000. We were adjacent to my Catholic elementary school. "...he should be a good Christian." the priest said. My dad told him to get the hell out of our house and NEVER come back! My parents were getting ready to retire to Florida, where I was living. They needed that money! My parents were always so kind and generous, and gave money to them and helped them so much. It was NEVER enough. I went to Catholic School from 1-12 grades. So glad my dad talked me out of Catholic college. When I was 16, I had told my dad that I was thinking of being a nun. He pounded his fist on our kitchen table and yelled, "You will NOT!" The Church always, always, wanted more. We were not rich. We had that house, and my dad worked on the Railroad. My parents were very poor when they were young. They worked very hard. No one ever helped them. They deserved what they had. They were always helping others. The Church is greedy. I hate to say it, but it is true. They wanted that property, but they didn't want to pay what it was worth. Sorry, I wrote so much. Good luck with the DVDs.

I don't think Naomi will kill Lawrence of Lydia, but she might kill Janine. In these misogynistic, patriarchal societies, a woman with 2 powerful dead husband's would be at risk of being blamed for their failings, even if she isn't found guilty in their deaths. And we know Gilead punishments for such crimes are brutal. Obviously, if Lydia is the subject of a spin-off, she's probably safe. But Janine is really a thorn in Naomi's side. Lydia loves Janine, so her death could be a powerful motivation for Lydia to take down or change Gilead.
I hope we don't have to wait too long for season 6 of the Handmaid's tale!! This show is so good!! The plot twist at each season is so good!! I always want more. I do have the first book so I'll either read the book again or watch the series again till it's time for the new season.
I don't think June's husband will get killed off through. I think June and her husband will meet again, cause if you remember June's husband said I'll find you again, so I don't think he should be killed off!! I am hopping June gets her daughter Hannah soon? That would be a great thing to see in the series. After what June has gone through she deserves to have both daughters in her arms! I think June and Seria will go to Hawaii with their kids and at first be mean to each other but then as they get to know each other again. They will somewhat be friends and help each other out!! Please don't kill off BW!! He lighting's the show with dry humor that is good for the show when it is already dark as is!!

Unfortunately we know for a fact that Hannah won't escape in Handmaid's Tale - because she's a major character in The Testaments, which is also being adapted into a show. The reason they're showing her more and more is likely to prep us for her becoming a main character; not to hint at her escape.

I definitely think Serena and June will become allies. June might even go back to Gilead to save Hannah, leaving Nicolle with Serena en Hawaii. Can’t wait!!

I’ve thought of those two teamed up and spoke publicly about Gilled in the show that it be different in the show. June and Serena could’ve been Allie’s but June harbors so much animosity about the past.

They’re so far off the book now. I really hope they wrap up the current story lines. I know they want to do the sequel but they are already way off the shoreline for that. **Spoiler** By 12 it sounds like Hannah’s Gilead Mom got sick and died around 12

Anyone who hasn’t read the testaments really needs to before season 6 comes out. I think that Serena ends up in Hawaii or changes her name and stays in B.C. I believe that June ends up in new bethlehem and Lawrence sets up a deal to make Hannah a pearl girl in exchange for June to come back and make runs to Canada underground to bring down gillead. I mean... we won’t see all that season 6 but that’s how I imagine us getting to the testaments. Lol 😂

Agreed. It has dragged on and on and I've only stuck with it because next series is the last. It went downhill as soon as it overtook the book, much like Game of Thrones

Dont give Naomi too much credit!😅 It was she who suggested that her husband get the WORST punishment, which led to his hand being cut off. I also hope that Serena gets redemption. I know, i know! Sounds crazy BUTTT Serina and June are smart enough to being Gilead to their knees. Cleary it doesn't end but they could cripple them for a time. The redemption isnt really for Serina, its for all the women that SHE helped subjugate!

I don't think 5 is on DVD yet. The others are. 6 is not even filmed yet, as far as I know. I was able to buy 1-4 on Amazon. My boyfriend does not like to buy anything else for the TV. He pays enough for Direct TV. 1-4 were a very reasonable price, I thought. I get how he feels. We can't watch what we already have! We'd have to be GLUED to the television.
Naomi's too weak. She could never. She'd rather stay in her perfect little bubble of an imaginarily easy life, which is why she was "Mrs. Putnam" in the first place.

I didn’t find it dull. As a woman I’m horrified with the similarities to today. Women & minorities have less rights now than we did a year ago. We’ll be feeling the effects of this kangaroo SCOTUS for decades, who knows if we will ever recover?
I think June should end up with Nick after everything they been through they deserve to be together. I think Serena will betray June only for Nick to come to her rescue once again or Hanna ends up in trouble and Nick saves her smuggling her out of the country to her mother June.
I didnt see a Season 6. Season 5 was the last season of the handmaids tale.
If the show kills off Luke, does that mean that June and Nick will finally get their happy ending? Oh, wait, Nick is currently in jail. . .
Nick made a deal with America to tell Gilead secrets in season 5. He left his wife at the end and you see them discussing it when she visits him in jail. I would love to see June & Nick reunite.
I can't stand June or Luke. June is just as guilty as Serena but because she was forced into Gilead the beginning, she's the victim. The character of both June and Luke are whiny, poor me, we can do what we want characters and have been since the start of the show.
They were ambushed! It's not their fault! They weren't weird before.
