I can still hear the entire conversation in my head of the prechecks, and that beautiful forceful base sounds of the main engine firing up. It almost sounds like a roar of a sleeping beast awakening.
same has been said by many astronauts in real life..funny though I think a few JAXA astronauts are fans of the original and remake
Well, it IS a sleeping beast awakening in one way or another.
This song playing as the new Yamato smashes its way out of the ice of what was once the floating water planet Aquarius. That is a sight to behold. The first nine notes in trumpet heralds its "I'M BACK!" statement.
That scene gives me an adrenalin rush like nothing else!
With how black holes look now a remaster of this movie would be soo sick seeing their tactical long range warp using the gravity of the black hole to sling shot them faster

It's even cooler for literally being THE Yamato, as in, she's the actual real-life ship from 1945, with one hell of a glow up, and now the world's favorite ww2 battleship is going to charge headlong into danger once again

@@frogisis yeah battleships has that feeling of firepower and superiority whilst aircraft carriers have the firepower for sure but not the superiority when you look at it... also battleships sometimes have that elegance and beauty with it that only early CV get whilst most BB gets

Too bad that the space battleship is no longer the original wreck. Real life got in the way. When it was found it had been blown in two so you can't make it into a spaceship. In 2199 the ship was designed to trick the gamelons that it was the wreck when it's not

WW2 Yamato is not something to be romanticized. It was the IJN's secret weapon, considered too valuable to ever really use. It was used once to smash a few US Destroyers (complete waste) when the IJN panicked at the thought of it being sank and kept it out of combat after that. Finally they realized what a complete waste of resources it was and decided to send it on a suicide mission without any support because they didn't have the courage to just scrap it. That ended up needlessly killing most of the crew in an utterly pointless mission just to get rid of their white elephant.
@starseigeplayer True... it really isn't something to be romanticized. It's history is one of militarism, militaristic excess, and absolutely pointless waste of human life. It's important to NEVER forget romanticize or forget that. Though, at least in a fictional sense, one could argue that this is a kind of redemption for it, and it's history. It's a way for it to wipe the same of its history clean. Again it is on another suicide mission, but this time its not done in complete vanity, to save face at the cost of it and it's crew. It's done for no less than the salvation of all of earth and mankind. I also love how the new anime is adding the themes of it fighting against fascism and militarization of its own people. In a way by doing so it is confronting the very thing that lead to it, its waste, and destruction in a pointless suicide mission.

編曲は山下康介氏、指揮は大友直人氏ですね。もともと「復活編」、特にディレクターズカット版は、山下氏によるオリジナル曲の割合が多いです。山下氏はハネケンさんのお弟子さんにあたる方ですから、「復活編」への音楽参加も自然な流れだったのでしょう。当初は宮川彬良氏にオファーを出したが、「復活編はないだろう」という理由で断られた経緯もありますし。
