- Haven helping you to show your house some love! Learn how to replace the water barrier on the bottom of a glass shower door. All you need is a pair of scissors, a screwdriver and a $5 replacement part!
2:22 - 2:23 it magically went back together. This is actually the part I was researching to put back together as it is not fitting properly.
I always wondered how to replace that. Thank you. CZcams University! LOL
Thanks! Not sure if it’s the iPhone speakers but the music almost covers the instructions. Must use cc or listen very closely to pick it up! FYI (:
The most challenging part is screwing everything on the door. Vinyl has tape that sticks to the door, then metal bracket goes over that. All good. The vinyl covers the screw holes and they are not aligned to make water slide down the metal bracket. So Suggestions?
Thank you for this video. It was clear and to the point.
Very helpful!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Thanks very much, hope it stays intact!!
Thank you for this. Excellent instructions that make sense.
Very helpful. Thank you very much.
Great, Helpful video, THANKS!
From frames 2:21 to 2:23, there are a number of steps missing in your video. How did the sweep jump from the floor all the way into the bottom of the door and already screwed in?
Perfect, thank you!
Any chance you might know the brand/make of the door hardware(the entire bottom drip channel that attaches to the door)? This looks exactly like my shower door but I cannot find the replacement parts bc I do not know the manufacturer. Thanks!
I neened the exact same thing. Thanks for making the video
Thank you so much 💓 !!
Good video. any ideas where to get the metal bracket? I want to replace mine as it is quite old and think it is breathing.
So what do you do if you can’t remove that metal piece? The old and worn out sweep slides out, but I can’t find a replacement
My problem is getting the metal part and the sweep to fit together. If the sweep is put in place, the metal part will not slide up to position for fastening.
I have the same setup. My question is did you ever had problems with the door staying shut I think it’s the magnet strips. Thank you if you can help
My metal piece is bent. I've been searching for a replacement part but cant figure out where to purchase. Do you know what part it would be?
Thanks
What way do you angle the door guard. Towards the opening or towards to other side??
I just loathe home repair jobs. But you know what irks me more? CZcamsrs who do not respond to comments or questions.
Outstanding
Looks like your door technically has a door sweep channel in it already as if it was previously removed and this was a work around. I see it wasn’t being utilized when you took yours off. Good work around if you can’t find your door sweep size and “T” shape is suppose.
Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for. Your shower frame is exactly like my own. Any tips or ideas on how to replace the rubber that goes up the side of the door?
Yep, there should be screws on the interior for the side strip. This will allow you to pull the old piece out. Look on Amazon for 3M transparent glass shower seal. It’s long strip that you can cut to size and replace the old strip with.
@@jetdeco Thanks for the quick reply! Using that search term on Amazon doesn't give me good results.
Try “Silicone Seal Strip”
@@jetdeco Perhaps my side strip is different than yours. I took off the screws and pulled the metal part off. The seal is attached to it and appears to be in a channel. I'll see if I can post a picture or video of it.
@@jetdeco Here is a short video showing my seal. I know you have no only to help me with this, so I do appreciate all the effort you have put in so far! czcams.com/video/5pVAMfbCxo8/video.html
Omg. I've searched for videos to help me replace the seal for weeks until I gave up. I decided to check 1 more things months later and almost gave up again. I'm glad I didn't. 2 👍🏾.......
Living with Purpose, Excellent!!! 🙂
@@jetdeco where do they sell this? Brand? Thanks
Thank you for the video. I have exact shower door system but the installer for get to install thethme frame that the sweep screw into, do you know where I can replacement set only the bottom part of the door? The door was install more than 2 years ago and the installer put plastic door sweep that I have to replace every 6 month. After watching your video, I know that the bottom part of the frame where you screw into is missing.
I don’t but, I haven’t looked. I’ll do some digging to see if I come up with anything
I had difficulty threading the sweep on the track. Tough because it didn't slide easily. Now I have to figure out why door is not shutting. Ugh!
I managed to unscrew my metal "water catcher thingy" and saw that there are actually no screw holes. There are dents where the short screws made contact and held that metal part and the vinyl sweep on using pressure. So when I put it back together, he metal "water catcher thingy" has too much play and is unstable. PLUS, to your point, my old vinyl sweep did not have a "T" top. So it is impossible to thread it on. It is just flat. So the replacement strip I bought is flat as well. Because I thought it was the correct replacement. Going to go shopping for a vinyl strip that has a lip.
Can you tell me how to remove a door like that one?
Thanks for the video. Music is way to loud when you are talking.
I have this same exact shower unit!! Where do I find that rubber sweep? Mine is like a brown/bronze color. Thank you in advance!!
I got mine at Home Depot but all they had was white. You may try Amazon
Okay mine is a one door that goes from it opens up and goes right back to the wall and it has a rubber piece I don't see any screws that are going with it looks like it was it was built into it
alisa nickelberry Alisa, feel free to email me a photo of your door at Info@haveninspect.com and I will take a look
One my my screws is stripped- nothing has worked to get it out… guess I’m screwed until I buy a whole new door.
Great video. My question is how do you remove the screws if they are stuck? I'm assuming they've never been touched since the house was built in 1998. I've tried WD-40 and Calcium Lime Rust but no luck. Help!
Sara Jackson My first question would be if the screw heads are stripped out? If they are you can pick up a grabber bit for less than $5 at a local hardware store or drill out the screw. If the screw head is not stopped out, place you screwdriver in the head and while trying to turn, take a hammer and tap on the end of the screwdriver
Life changer for me. New tool!
I was afraid to strip the frozen Philips head screws or use a hammer near the glass door. I did some research and discovered the new ( for me ) tool. I bought a portable impact driver ( not impact wrench) and the screws started turning with only the slightest touch of the variable speed trigger! Amazing. No more frozen screws in my future. Where has this tool been hiding?
I bought a Dewalt impact driver at HD for $99 with battery and case. Also bought a set of 30 impact bits for $10. I used the ph2 bit for the door sweep project.
That’s a lot to spend for a shower door sweep, but I know I have spent hundreds of hours trying to free frozen screws. Problems solved & a new tool. Life is good!!
So I guess the screws just hold everything in place? It is not like there are holes in the strip.....
I swear I’m dyslexic! Forgot to take a pic before I took that thing apart,. And for whatever reason.. I just could not figure out how it went back.😜
This did not work for me. As soon as I closed the shower door the sweep came off. Am I suppose to put holes in the sweep.
Mine doesn’t have screws. Help!
How do you keep water from getting onto the floor when you get out of the shower? Thats the problem with mine
Tundra Guy I have the same issue, water along the door sweep drips onto the floor 🤦🏼♀️
Shower mat, keeps floor dry and prevents slip hazards.
@@jetdeco I.think you supposed to have sweep at angle so water drains inside shower
I have that issue too.
There should be a little rubber piece that slides into the channel. You could probably put a little bit of caulk at the end to keep the water in.
Can anyone post the details so I can find the sweep at HomeDepot?
Chris, the door sweep is 1/2” x 36” vinyl self adhesive door sweep. You can also search amazon for vinyl shower door sweep and find several options that way as well.
I tried the one in the video, but it was too long vertically and too thick. I had to replace the screws with longer ones. Finally the sweep split and broke off from rubbing on the bottom.
I found this one at HD. While I still needed the longer screws, it fit much better.
Hint: flatten out first and pull tight when making holes in the sweep for the screws to make sure the T at the top is flat against the drip rail and the door frame.
Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.
Shower Door Bottom Sweep, 36 in. x 1 in. Strip, Vinyl Construction, Clear, 5/32 in. Tee Insert Shape
www.homedepot.com/p/202672230
Why does the sweep now look longer than the bracket at 2:23?
Cut it a little longer than the actual bottom of the door so you can close it and adjust it. If you cut it to the length of the bracket it will be too short and water will leak through. You might have to trim across 3-4 mm on the top if the door won't close as well.
Music is too loud
I can’t see how you slide it on
Same. I am having trouble putting the strip on.
You realize you can just pull the old one out and slide the new one in
Good point. They make different seal slide-in types (T and Star shaped for example) so make sure your get the correct one for your bracket. Also depends on your bracket too so it's probably best if you remove it first to see what you will need.
Glad I saw this reply gonna search for a vid showing this before I attempt to do it. Thanks!
Thanx for the video…. Helpful….But lose the background music …..kinda hard to hear you
this is helpful but the music makes it so hard to listen to the instructions , why does every youtube video needs to have background music
What's with the music in the background? I'm trying to learn how to do a task not find new music styles. Very distracting.
I can barely heat what she is saying because of this stupid music. Can you please remove the background music
