The group see Jurgen the Brutal for the first time and are run into Spencer.
In Jumanji:The Next Level, the gang is back (Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan) but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. With more action and surprises, the players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape.

Awkwafina did an impressive job at conveying Spencer's personality.
That one thing she does? Try to be hip and confused?
She almost changed completely when she became grandpa Eddie. Her face and gestures, so different. And I could almost see Spencer. Such a good actress.

I like how that sets up the kind of person Jurgen is. He loved Dagfin like a brother, more than anyone else. He trusted him with the key to the jewel box. But he still killed him because he broke his trust rather than kick him out. Jurgen doesn’t mess around, even if he is just a videogame character.
Just like how Shan Yu Kills one of his soldiers who Hides a bird from him after the Huns destroy a village and rather than just kick that soldier out he killed him for disobedience and lying.
So this is why you should really have people in an army who does things behind The Boss’s back.
Jurgen looks like a earlier version of Shan Yu before Disney finalised him.
It's revealed during the final fight that he's not an NPC, but a player too. When Spencer got the Jumanji Berry on Jurgen's chest, it showed his strengths and weakness. Only avatars show that stuff. So that means someone has been playing Jurgen, only we don't know who and we won't know until the next movie.
But anyway, I'm sure the person playing Jurgen's avatar really liked Dagfin because maybe he wasn't like the other NPCs. Maybe Dagfin was the only one the saw him as the scared and good person for who he truly is from the real world. And Jurgen had no choice but to kill Dagfin because it might affect how he will finally get out of the game.

I love that Gillian constantly gives off this aura of her not having any fucking clue that she's attractive. She's been hyper sexualised for years yet still gives off an atmosphere of 'that weird nerdy chick that hasn't yet registered everyone has a crush on her'. . . When Spencer is looking up and down at Eddie at 3:44, I don't think it's just because he's amazed that his grandfather is taller and more buff and playing as the avatar he wanted to be again. I think Spencer is also amazed by the looks of Bravestone's face. If you think about it, Spencer only knew what his body looked like when he played in Welcome to the Jungle, but he never saw a reflection of his face, like how Bethany looked at hers in the water before being eaten by the hippo. Spencer's probably thinking "So that's what I looked like when I was him! Damn, Bravestone's handsome!"

If you think about it, Jurgen talking about how much he loved Dagfin is more meaningful than you think. You see, later on in the film, Spencer accidentally activated Jurgen's list of strengths and weaknesses. Dwayne Johnson confirmed that Jurgen is really an avatar and that someone from the real world is playing as him and will find out who he really is in the next movie. With this, Jurgen is really talking about how Dagfin is probably the only NPC that he ever felt close to in this fictional world. The only person he could talk about personal stuff too. While NPCs have a limited series of programmed responses, Dagfin is probably the only one that can say the most things. I doubt that Dagfin was an avatar too because whoever Jurgen is, I doubt he would kill a friend of his from the real world. But even if Dagfin was an avatar then he's the only player that ever died in the video game world.
