I saw G3 with Eric, Joe, and Steve down here in Houston. During the 3 guitar challenge @ the end of the show all 3 were dueling each other and the entire event took on this powerful amazing energy and vibe, almost intoxicating. Eric produced a MIND-BLOWING SONIC sound that I have never heard before erupt. It was so impressive that both Joe and Steve had a bewildered look on their faces of WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST GET YOUR GUITAR TO DO. Eric Johnson is SOOOOO UNDERATED!!!!
I guess they're referring to his interaction with the soundwaves he produces himself and skilfully manipulates into some sort of melodic feedback. Check out the solo on trail of tears, the live performance at austin city limits (where he wears the jacket). You can literally see him fighting the sonic force pumped at him.

My kids have me as a resource...my 18 year old son loves Eric and listens to the "good music"...my 10 year old daughter...well, she's learning. lol I won't let them listen to rap in my house and very little dance music. One hour of their choice and then one hour of my choice. It's easy....

If you like what you hear, this song was featured on an album entitled "Masters of the Acoustic Guitar"- with other fingerstyle pieces of similar mood and mastery. Even better is the "Windham Hill Guitar Sampler" (the original one, I believe ('88?) with "On the Way", "Andecy", "No City Lights", "Sun and Water"). It is incredible - many of the more rock-ish guitar players I've given a copy to fall in love with it. Windham Hill even has a tab book out that features a few songs from that album (and a few are even in standard tuning).
I met him 24 years later, but he really is the nicest guy isn't he? So polite, soft spoken, and true to his roots rather than the pompous star he easily could've become.

Dear sir, I find you're way of parenting very bad to be honest. You can't ( and shouldn't ) force your kids to listen to your 'good' music. Dont get me wrong, I love the 'good' music as much as you do. I'm 20 years old, my parents never forced me to listen to their music ( neither was there a time limit where I could listen to my 'own' music ) but still I listen to the same artists my parents listen to ( EJ included ), they never forced me. He places his first finger on the harmonic note then pluckes it with His thumb or another finger. Try it with a open e string on the 12 fret.
