  • In this video we overview the process of renewing your NYC For-Hire Vehicle (FHV) License (aka TLC Plate Renewal). Every two years, NYC FHV owners have to pay the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) a renewal fee (currently $625) to keep their TLC Plates active. Usually, you should start the process about 4 to 6 weeks before your current FHV License expires*. Once you pay the renewal, the TLC will give you an inspection date at their Woodside Queens Facility** within 2 to 4 weeks.

You should submit the renewal payment 5 to 6 weeks (~45 days) before expiration 👍 Hope that helps!

Are you referring to your TLC drivers license renewal process? When you entered in your TLC drivers license number & expiration a match came up with a vehicle?

I haven't received my Vehicle Renewal package by mail and the expiration date is just 1 month away. What should I do?

If you go to the TLC LARS portal (www1.nyc.gov/lars/) we would proactively renew your FHV license if the expiration date in just 1 month away.
      1. Go to TLC LARS portal (link above) click ‘Renewal Payment’ > select ‘Vehicle’
      2. Enter in your FHV License number, FHV License expiration date (both can be found on your current blue inspection sticker) and last 5 of your social sec # or business EIN
      3. Follow steps concerning address confirmation and you’ll be able to make the payment
      Hope that helps!

What happens if I renew a week before the expiration date. I renewed today 10/19 and FHV expires Nov 1. Is there a late fee?

    • @AutoMarketplace

That still should work, but you may receive a date a few days after expiration but I think you’ll be fine. There is no late fee.
