The actor who "killed the dog". Felt so guilty that he picked up and cuddled the dog for an hour straight afterwards. Rumors say he also adopted the dog as his own from it's trainer.
There is a CZcams video of Keanu on a tactical gun range training for the movie. He truly knows how to handle a firearm. He did almost all of the stunts. At the end, the dog he took was to be put down.

23:19 I'm with her, I wanted it to be more torturing too, but he just made Vigo give up his own son to death, so a swift death is the least he could do, as hard as it is to see sometimes, John is a nice guy lol
He did make it torturing. That’s why he didn’t shoot him in the club when he had him dead too rights. He wanted him to feel fear for his life. Because he obviously wasn’t scared and didn’t take the story of John seriously by partying it up in a club. When he shout at him as he ran away he wasn’t trying to hit him. Kind of like shooting really close to someone’s feet that they always do in the westerns. Notice how scared he was in the warehouse. Even before John showed up. Remember, they were warned John knew where they were located and that an expert assassin was coming. Just sitting there wondering when he is going to get there is very torturous to the psyche.

@@sheikhu1039 Oh, I get you. But for a double-tap in the heart, with one to the head kind of guy, I didn’t think John was a patient enough character for physical torture. Just my take. It’s not the RIGHT take, just mine.
Also at the end of the movie when we was at the dog shelter he chose the dog that was about to be put down

@@ZaZy4MIL They don't have to but it's very unusual when people don't care even if it's just in a film. There's a reason why, in plenty of films, a dog/puppy getting killed or dying is more emotionally upsetting to most people than an important person/character is.
The guy reacting in this video was obviously upset when they killed the puppy while the chick reacted in that strange "Happy Upset" look.

He let himself getting stabbed at the same spot he was injured so like this he could break his arm and kill him. He was on purpose .
