To those out there be somewhat selective. I went to a school with no facilities. We ran at a 6 lane middle school track outdoors all winter. This was Juco and I can tell you it sucked. Running in freezing weather in sleet isn't conducive to speed.

Thanks for your comment and your perspective. There are definitely programs with limited resources and they can present some challenging conditions for training.

Its even harder now? 35 years ago I wrote letters to 12 D1 schools with my top times/events along with my academic qualifications. I got responses from 4. Ended up as a walkon and competed for 2+ years.

Thanks for your comment as well as the perspective. I would contend it’s probably easier and harder all at the same time. Technology makes it easier to reach out. But also increases competition for spots.

Would you expect college coaches (any division) to be watching the USATF Junior Olympics in TX this summer to look for potential recruits?

I do believe college coaches pay attention to a meet like that. But they are looking for Athlete who will project out as point scorers at their level. For example, a 13 year old boy who wins his age division is likely not a legit d1 prospect yet, because the times he runs aren’t high level D1 times yet. But if a 14 year old girl can run as fast as the women in college now, she would likely be on a coach’s radar.
For the younger age divisions those meets are really opportunities for competition and gaining experience more-so than to impress college coaches.

how would you recommend i go about getting recruited for theowing based off the fact that implements increase from high school to college

Coaches generally have a way of reading your HS stats to consider you as a recruit. Basically in a shot put they will subtract 10 ft or so from your hs performances to project what you would do in college. So you can still get a sense of which schools might want you using that.
