    Fantastic review. I have 2 of the UL150 (notUL150ii) and 2 of the bags. It's a tight fit (and I put the reflector in because this version of light has a smaller ballast so I guess that's why it fits - plus I haven't added the clamp nor battery yet). In any "case," the case situation is VERY annoying. I looked everywhere for a better affordable option - and while you say no one uses the reflector anyway (so you leave it out of the bag), you go into what good use you can make of the reflector. I just think I should have a better situation than 2 super tight bags after spending $60 each on the bags -- and that's WITH the reflectors in the bags. I'd be far more annoyed to spend and leave them out. Godox should have a bag for the UL150s.

      Thanks man. Hey, if that reflector would fit, I’d definitely put that in, trust me. I don’t like leaving components behind.
      Yes, every time I get something without a case, it really turns me off. But the reason they sent me that case was exactly because people have complained before and to try solving the problem with an affordable, pretty and highly protective bag that would go with the UL’s. Well, it worked, but not quite yet the perfect case.
      Yes, they should make a case specific for it like they would for a SZ-150R. I think they know now that it’s important to provide a case, even if that would cost us an extra $100, I’d rather go for that. Better than trying to find cases…

      Hi, I recently got the UL150i and it fits just fine in the Godox CB-17 rolling backpack. I feel that's the best option you can get for the UL150i. I even have space to throw in a compact V mount battery in the bag. Do check it out. Certainly an additional cost no doubt, but worth it in my opinion. My only gripe with this bag, is that it's on the heavier side even when empty. But overall, I'm happy with it and my UL150i is going to stay in this bag when not in use. Plus I can also add a nano stand to the bag.

      Use reflector 1. when bouncing, 2. with an umbrella, sheet,screen etc. 3. when this kind of hard light is necessary. Be aware of terrible hotspot this light gives with the reflector.

      @@jacek5384 Hello Jacek, absolutely! I should have clarified, I rarely use a reflector since I’m the majority of cases I use a soft box. They are Definitely helpful in increasing and focusing light output especially with an umbrella.

  • @timschooler
    @timschooler Před rokem +1

    Just a heads up if anyone has this light and needs a case, everything fits into a Godox CB21 rolling case. With a little creative placement you can even fit two v lock batteries with everything that goes with the UL 150 II, including the reflector.

      @@ArtVideoProductions You are welcome! I have the original UL 150 also and didn't know which case I would get for the 150 II and took a chance on the CB21, and very pleased with the case. Not a Pelican or SKB but equal in quality to the other Godox cases. Thanks for the great review!

      @@timschooler in the video, just in case someone doesn’t need an oversized case, or to get something slightly cheaper, I demonstrated a solution with the CB-16. It works well except the reflector(which nobody uses). But thanks again for helping us out with more cases solutions. Thumbs up for you brother. 👍👍

    What light and modifier did you use for the key light on yourself for the duration of the video, at what percent power output, distance, and aperture, iso, shutter speed combination? Nice review especially the demo portion with the model where you showed all the camera settings and light settings so we understand the capabilities, thank you!

    1. The color of this light is different from my other "daylight 5600K" lights. It is cooler for sure than Nanlite Forza 300/500 i own. 2. There is terrible hotspot - use only good softbox with "ant-hotspot" circle and expect appropriate output loss. 3. Side to side with my Forza 300 at 50% my UL150II is pretty much dimmer. 4. Out of the box there is irritating high pitch noise from PSU - one needs to change control screen brightness to 3 to get rid of this noise and never use level 1-2 again. It is heavy and big as for 150W LED COB. BUT this is probably the only one SILENT light of this type on the market - ? With my Nanlite Forza 300 I could record voice only if put PSU into zipped bag and turn the fixture fan off means output lowers down to somewhere near 75W.

    • @ArtVideoProductions
      @ArtVideoProductions  Před rokem

      The UL150II is almost half of the price of the Nanlite 300 and half of the power... On my copy, there's no high pitch noise coming from PSU, however, I think someone else was complaining about that tho. As for lighting, I use primarily frames instead of soft boxes. The softboxes I use, I have no issues with hot spots from that bare bulb. What I'd have to say is...I guess, If you are very dissatisfied with the performance of this light, if you bought it from amazon or BH you can simply return it. That's what I would do...

      @@ArtVideoProductions Hello AVP I keep UL150II with me because I don't know about any other SILENT light of this type COB 150W Bowens mount. Forza 300 is no longer sold here in Europe but it was cheaper than now is Forza 300II. Sure each light is different and many factors to compare. Again - I really like UL150II but people should be aware before they click to buy.
