VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 6. 08. 2024
- We visited Primrose Valley Haven Holiday Park and left after just one day! Join us on our very short Holiday Tour.
Also, just to be clear. We never expected much for the money we paid, but what we did expect was plain old fashioned cleanlinesses and manners.
Special thanks to Trevor the security guard and Paul from The Lake House who went above and beyond to try and help us. But we was already heading out of the car park.
Primrose Valley Holiday Park is Haven's flagship park in the North. Book online today for a family holiday at a 5-star park with fantastic facilities. (apparently) đ«€
Taken From Wikipedia:
Primrose Valley is a coastal village south of Filey, North Yorkshire, England. It was historically part of the East Riding of Yorkshire until 1974 and then part of the Borough of Scarborough from 1974 until 2023. It had a population of 451 in the 2011 census.
Taken From Trip Advisor:
Beautiful modern and spotlessly clean caravan in the seabirds section with a lake and sea views. Plenty of facilities, friendly helpful staff.

Me and my husband have been going to haven for years and never had a bad experience
Great đđ»
Been with Haven for years and never had any problems that wernt sorted out to our satisfaction. One year we had unpacked and just had our meal and the manager came and asked us to move to another caravan. We did this without a fuss and had our weeks rental returned to us for our willing cooperation. Going to Norfolk for two weeks in September. Haven are an excellent company. ( I dont work for them)
Things must of changed since then days.
I loved primrose valley. Itâs a great holiday park.

Stayed at several Haven sites around the UK. As someone has already said, It is just a place to eat and sleep unless you have kids and use the site facilities. Unfortunately a lot does depend on the site you choose. Some have caravans packed together and you can hear everything going on in your neighbours van. Other sites the parking is an issue especially when some holidaymakers turn up with two or more cars. At other sites l have used, there is a lack of staff. Generally the vans are clean, but l have experienced issues and now always take some floor wipes for the kitchen and bathroom areas. The remote tv controls are usual broken. Haven also money grab as you can't select the location of your van until you have paid for the holiday. They then send you an email saying choose your location but you will have to pay more. All these issues l have reported back to Haven over the last few years to no avail. So choose carefully which site you stay at and read reviews.

I came here as a kid and it was fantastic, never had a problem with Haven, hoping tthat doesn't change when I visit this park for 7 days in September, I paid ÂŁ325 for 7 nights in a saver caravan cos its enough for my needs, from watching this video I will be avoiding the chippy :D
Haha definitely avoid the chippy. We hope your stay will be much better than ours. đđ»
Good review and Iâm not surprised it wasnât great. We had a 8 berth on Haven Marton Mere near Blackpool. For a few years we allowed Haven to deal with bookings and cleaning. When we had time to take over and do the rentals and cleaning ourselves we were shocked. I went in and blitzed the place, it wasnât clean , our nice flat screen tv had been replaced by a 1980s big back portable. I cleaned everything, carpets , curtains etc . Then Haven had the cheek to bill us for carpet and curtain cleaning they hadnât done. Once we took over we added homely touches , nice bedding , childrenâs games and toys, family DVDs and we provided a welcome pack with the essentials⊠fresh bread , milk, butter, sweets for the kids , bottle of wine , washing up liquid etc. When we did the bookings and cleaning ourselves and had 95% occupancy.
Haven are not great , I would always suggest going via a private owner not Haven. (I know it may cost more but itâs usually worth it)
Shame you didnât still have it or we would of booked with you haha. Part 2 tonight makes up for it đ
@@LancashireLarks We stopped with the caravan when my other half was diagnosed with Cancer (heâs doing much better now , not cured but meds have it on the run). I loved sorting the caravan ourselves and took great pride in the lovely reviews and rebooks. As I said if possible always hire from a private owner , they tend to look after the vans better and donât want bad reviews. Haven donât care if they get bad reviews they are so big and well known they know they will always get bookings . Canât wait for the next review hehehe xx
Some people just don't care about keeping the caravan clean. I know somebody who hired out a dog friendly caravan and it was completely trashed by people who left their dogs in the caravan. They had to strip it out and completely redo it so lost all their rent and still had to pay site fees etc. They then kept it for friends and family.
Yeah some people donât appreciate anything and these are the types who ruin it for the rest of us.
The caravans are like hire cars.most people don't care about them .

Primrose Valley was my childhood holidays in the 1960's. I remember there was an long arcade of shops. Two paddling pools for kids. Also a children's roundabout (which my parents couldn't get me off). A train that took you to the beach and back.
Sounds like much happier days đđŒ
@LancashireLarks In the 1960's Primrose Valley wasn't owned by Haven. Maybe that's why it has gone down the pan. And yes, we as a family always had enjoyable holidays there.
@@jenphan21 we did as well when our kids were young. We used to take them to Haven in Wales and always had the best time. Long gone are those days now.

No refund offered after we complained
@@LancashireLarks perhaps email them. Put it all in writing and say you'd like a partial refund for the nights you didn't stay. It gets expensive, but you save on alcohol and desserts. (And prescriptions đ€Ł). Hi and thanks. Yeah. The old Butlins site is where we stayed at in Part 2, itâs virtually next door to this place. đđ»
good vid! I stayed recently on the 28th june for the 1st time in years at a haven site ( as i kid in the 80s we stayed at cala gran nr blackpool) this time as im living down Bristol we stayed at the burnham on sea park ......We only stayed Friday to Monday morning as it was a break away for my birthday ...we opted for the gold so we got bedding, towels ,and the play passes included for the entertainment (especialy as at burnham for some reason if you booked a saver you did not get bedding included and had to bring your own dont know if that another thing haven are bringing in as a cost cutting mesure that hasnt reached their other parks yet as you mentioned you got bedding included for your saver caravan)
ANYHOW the gold caravan we had was only a year old as they have replaced a whole section that used to be savers to gold and was 5 min walk to the main areas ....The caravan was great and clean slept 8 techinacaly if you included the pull out sofa, Built in microwave (a lot better than the one you had) fridge freezer, dishwasher, nice hob / cooker etc a kitchen island/ breakfast bar with stools as well as a dining table , same as you had 2 bedrooms with single beds but had some wrdrobe storage, main bedroom was large with wall mounted tv on a swivle to watch in bed , built in wardrobe and an en suite toilet and sink, sperate bathroom with shower, and a wrap around deck with a table and 6 chairs for eating out side when nice weather with sliding patio door access! ALSO i nice TARMACED parking area at the side , no crazy pathing broken and muddy swamp that you got!
Also i think they have spent a bit of cash last year and this year on Burnham as they had a lot of new things there such as the outdoor stage and the box bar ( basicaly a shipping container convered into a bar for outdoor use)
Sadly Burnham suffers from not having as many options to eat at Unlike primrose valley , yes they had a pappa johns, burger king, and fish and chips, BUT they were only open from 4 or 5pm so unless you were cooking in your caravan then the only option during the day was the mash and barrel ( prob a weatherspoons as thats what it reminded me of BUT wasnt branded as such) .....NOW as i said we went for a weekend Sat morning went for breakfast ..they had run out of suasages! then SAT evening went to eat and had no steak, no mixed grill , in fact a lot of stuff they didnt have ! i was VERY dissapointed in that as Haven ect know weekends are their busiest time so they should have had enough stock in in my opinion ...... the staff very apologetic and i siad i know its not your fault etc (also they sent us someone elses food that we didnt order ..we sent it back! ) sadly MOst if not all the staff be they food and bevarge, activities or lifeguards all seem to be students VERY rarely did we see any staff over 25 at best ! ALSO the friday and Saturday was crazy loud in the main entertainment room AND SEEMD TO BE FULL OF HEN OR STAG PARTIES and familes letting kids run riot , had to queue at the bar to get drinks etc , then Sunday night the place was empty!
IT cost us ÂŁ350 for the Friday to monday morning .....would i do it again? im on the fence tbh caravan etc was great for the price if there were 6 or 8 of us that split the price but there were only 3 of us! the park was great nice and clean, but food options not soo good (running out of stuff and the other places not opeing till 4 pm) also entertainment lounge was too packed and noisy on the friday and Saturday ( so much so you clould not hear the etertainers over the loud talking and shouting)
I Would prob give have burnham on sea another go just for the benefit of the doubt as cant realy go off 1 visit!
P.S we were never told that all the eating places didnt opend till 4 or 5 pm AND try as we might we could NOT download the haven app on my partners phone or mine so that was a bust too!
Hi, yes a lot of people have said they can not download the app. Giving people the wrong food is so bad, especially with all the allergy problems people have these days. I think because they are that big, complaints are like water off a ducks back as they know people will still come because of the name. We never had problems with Haven when the kids were young. But these days a lot of corners are being cut. Sign of the times mi thinks. A lot of places closing down and customer service is nowhere near what it used to be. Thank, have a great week đđđ¶đđŒ
@@LancashireLarks Agree fully with waht you say! BACK in the day as a kid ( i was born 1970) so the places to go were predominantly Butlins and Pontins and they were great and then they started closing camps , pontins taken over by Brittania ( my cousin was a life gurd a pontins blackpool and her brother worked at pontins camber sands for a few yrs ..both now closed ! Butlins closed a lot of thier parks too ...BUT ponitins under Brittania are dumps and they recently closed some more camps! ...Haven when i 1st visited at cala gran in the 80s was all my folks could afford ..we still holidayed at home INFACT the 1st time we evenr wen abroad was when i was 21 in 1991! BUT with some family friends and my gran and the guy she was dating at the time being a widow TBH think BENDORM the tv show ..thats where we went and it was like that ! i was 21 no one else my age etc so i was off pubbing and clubbing as you do at that age on my own till i got grounded the 2nd week and my mums friend had a go at me ( obv cuause mumwas worried about me crawling back into the hotel at 6am lol so of course i retaliieted back at her telling her shes not my mum and to keep her nose out and sort her own kid out! of course that went down like a lead balloon rofl (1st and only family holiday abroad i have had and wont do one again rofl!)đ

True, but this isnât a hotel. Itâs a holiday park that caters for families. Do you think itâs good practice not to clean the place up and leave fag dimps at the door to great you.
200 quid for a week seriously what did anyone expect
Maybe a clean would of been good
@@LancashireLarks I always clean the caravan from top to bottom when I get there. Bedrooms looked clean, and you had a pet friendly caravan which if I am not mistaken allow people to smoke.
People are so fussy these days they moan about everything be grateful some people can t afford a holiday
@user-fp5pt8yv2d yeah I appreciate that, but when you pay for something that you work for, a bit of cleanliness isnât too much to ask.
Some people canât afford holidays, true. However whatâs that got to do with anything. It should have been clean, and fit for purpose ! Also who ever thought it a good idea to chuck cigarette butts outside like that, do not deserve any accommodation. Disgusting !

@@LancashireLarks you went to enquire about an upgrade and the fobbed you off? Did you not ask why the attitude, I ask this because if you just walk out and say nowt the next person will get the same treatment Stand up for your rights take no jipp
Serious question, are you going to heaven or hell. Hope your answer is heaven. The only way to heaven is through Jesus, who shed his blood on the cross for you ( for our sins ) was buried and rose on the third day, for whosoever believed in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Love and God bless you and your family x
You book a dog friendly caravan and then complain about the smell and slight stain on the cushion? I agree chippie appears to have been rude but honestly seems like you booked cheapest there was just so you could complain.
@@SuperShucks in your opinion, that you are entitled too đđ»
Omg. Filthy hole lol. Sorry but, does cheap have to be filthy? Make no wonder it was a ghost town. Anyway. Thanks for even being bothered to review. At least others have been warned. Enjoy Yorkshire guys xxx
Thanks Annie đđđ¶đđ»
Stopped watching after listening to âwe bought basic, we got basicâ - I get youâre complaining but this is common sense.
Should be clean at least-this is where you complain immediately to the park manager and tell them to fix it whilst you go out.

Hes a sound geezer him but i wouldnt like to come home to her with a pound short in my wages!

most havens are dirty overpriced sites , haggerston last time i was there seen police on site 4 times visiting the traveller caravans , cleethorpes beech is like a rundown american trailer trash park . they are misselling to the good public

That fish and chips was reheated from the day before! Disgusting, and not fit for human consumption! I would have demanded a full refund for the entire week, and called in a health inspector! What a shithole!
Thanks Bobby đđ»
Here we go again. Book a cheap place and moan. Boring.

Very poor video

not all places are for disabled people, for obvious reasons ,ie places of natural beauty ,and besides ,this beach is private and not part of haven site ,you cannot make everything disabled access ,it would not be feasable for a start ,most wheelchairs etc can get down but coming back up would be almost impossible especially for the pusher ,even mobility scooters would struggle .and you would have a flat battery in no time ,heavens sake stop moaning and groaning about everything .
Thanks đđ»
