      That's awesome! I wish we lived that close to Durhamtown, we'd be there every weekend probably, lol. It's at least a 6 hour drive for us. We stayed a week down there and rode every trail and some of them multiple times, so we got a lot of video footage from our trip that we still have to edit and publish so stay tuned. I'd say you cannot go wrong with a Kodiak or Grizzly, they are great machines. Thanks for subscribing! Thanks for the nice compliment and for watching!

    Like the review. Been looking at a new ATV for a few years now, i've been missing my old polaris. The Kodiak looks like the perfect replacement. Now, i just have to find someone with one in stock.

      The Kodiak is a great machine. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I had to search far and wide to find this one back when I bought it. I ended up having to travel out of my home state, 5 hours one way to get this one. I hope you can find one you like within reasonable distance. Thanks for watching!

    Recently purchased an ATV and was wondering what everyone is doing for insurance. Would hate to have stolen and not covered by insurance. Checked with my insurance carrier that we have our homeowners insurance with and was told ATVs are excluded. Thanks.

    Great video man, thank you , how your liking its capability to climb and overall power?

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  Před 3 lety

      I love this machine. The power is great all around. I’ve had it in the Blue Ridge Mountains on many occasions now and it climbs any hill I’ve encountered and terrain with ease. This is a really strong atv. It is really strong for working too. It climbs well in high range and if you really need to gear it down there’s the low range which makes it even stronger for steep technical terrain and also for working. Thanks for the nice compliments and for watching!

    Did the airbox mod and the ais block make the bike run cooler and stop backfiring? I just bought a 2021 700 kodiak and after owning every atv on the market canam Polaris etc this bike runs the hottest by far and backfires with a stock exhaust?? . I cant wear shorts riding it or have passengers because the atv becomes a hot stove after 15 mins of driving especially on the left side were the exhaust is . I'm actually amazed there allowed to sell this atv running that hot .. it dont say it's overheating but the fender gets hot enough that if you pushed hard enough on it you could deform it however you wanted I also can't bring my son on the machine its way too hot i occasionally put my legs up on the front rack while driving to give the bottoms of my keg a break from the heat .. this is not enjoyable for me to ride this atv like I was hoping for if I could take it back and get a different brand I would .. I've researched that the ais block off and a fuel programmer solves this but in all honesty I bought this bike for reliability with the yamaha name and its only a few days old and im very disappointed with the issues yamaha has not fixed so I don't feel like dumping more money into it when yamaha has failed to solve these issues its 2021 things are expensive I find it rediculas they keep building them like this other brands pass emissions without becoming a mobile stove . If these mods helped with heat were did you buy the mods?

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  Před 3 lety

      The AIS delete helped cool the exhaust system down on mine as I stated in this video. Talk to Eric at EHS Racing and he can help you with your questions and concerns.

    Have you ever driven the Grizzly to compare it to this? I know the spec differences but what are the riding differences ie suspension, drivetrain, sound, ride , etc ? thanks

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  Před rokem

      Yes, I’ve ridden the Grizzly. The Grizzly has a softer seat, the suspension has more travel and has a comfortable ride. They both have the exact same engine and muffler so the sound is the same with one exception the Grizzly will be noisier at lower speeds because it has lighter clutch weights which allow engine to spin at higher rpm’s at lower travel speeds compared to the Kodiak which has the heavier clutch weights and cruises at lower rpm’s. With the extra seat height and different handlebars of the Grizzly you have a different riding position vs the Kodiak. With this being said the Kodiak has a comfortable suspension, seat and will provide an exciting ride when you get into the throttle. I could have bought a Grizzly, but I chose the Kodiak because I like the width of the Kodiak, fitting in tighter spaces, slightly sharper turning radius, fits on my trailer beside my other ATV when going on rides, parked in my barn it fits perfectly beside other ATV. I like the bodywork on the Kodiak better for me, it’s also less bulky which allows me to see easier where I’m placing my tires out on the trails. They are both excellent machines. I have no regrets buying the Kodiak. Hope that helps.

      Awesome reply! Very thorough! I think the shocks are different as well ie gas on the grizz vs oil on the kodiak?
      I’m going to look for a kodiak this time. I like the nibbleness of narrow and turn radius. I go off trail through brush alot and i did find the grizzly a bit too wide on times.👍

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  Před rokem +1

      Yeah I believe I read somewhere that the Grizzly has Nitrogen charged shocks. I read good things about Elka shocks. I’ve been really pleased with my factory shocks and so far I haven’t even moved the preload adjustment from where it was set at the factory. I definitely like the nimbleness of the Kodiak and the turning radius is awesome. I think you’ll enjoy the Kodiak 700.

  • @duanesnow424
    @duanesnow424 Před rokem

    also, did you upgare the tires?...what brand and size?

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  Před rokem

      No, not yet. I’m planning to wear out the stock tires before I upgrade. The stock tires have done well for me, I just keep the recommended air pressures in them and they suit me fine and still have great tread life left even after riding in the mountains with rocky trails and traveling on asphalt roads between trailheads. Whenever I do upgrade I plan on choosing a lightweight tire that won’t hinder the machine’s performance. Most likely I will stick with stock 25 inch size to retain performance of machine. At the most I would go one inch bigger if I did go that route, but that’s just me.

    So that is about the same price as a Rancher IRS ?

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  Před 3 lety

      I would suggest checking out the Honda and Yamaha powersports websites and your local dealer for most up to date pricing. Yamaha offers three model variations of the Kodiak 700 which each have different options and different prices. The websites will allow you to compare the options of each model and pricing easily.

  • @trailblazeratv6306

    Is it better than the Honda ?

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  Před 3 lety +1

      For me it is. However opinions are subjective to each individual. I think both Honda and Yamaha are great machines. The Yamaha is more fun to ride, more comfortable, smoother engine and transmission. That’s just to name a few things that make me enjoy the Yamaha over the Honda. Thanks for watching!

      Good. The 708’s I heard was a partnership with Subaru, which apparently had a horrible engine, especially bad top - end causing smoke like no other. I’m sure you already know, but hey. You’re gonna love this machine for years on end. Just change the oil and go!
