A year on the wrist, every day, showering etc., great watch which accompany me all the day...best watch ever had, light wearing and stunning design, lot of people ask me what kind of watch this is...when I gave them brief intro...open mouth, stunning (material, design and of course price...but this is worth as this watch is like a rocket to the moon...;.)) account picture you see me travelling through desert Marokko to Algeria, wearing a speedy X33, no problem with sandstorm etc. Omega a brand which accompany me through my life and adventures, big congrat to Swiss and Omega !

I would say that the "iconic chronograph" is that which has three sub-dials, like the more recent DSotM Team Alinghi and Apollo Eight models, which are not so highly revered for the same reasons as the "true moonwatches". That's another can of worms.

They make it sound like the moon actually has an always-dark side.
Why don't you look up why a side of the moon is called the dark side?
Faissal aka Md. Faisal Halim The moon rotates, just like the earth, and has day and night (the whole cycle lasts about 4 weeks of our time, not one day). There is no "dark side of the moon" other than the side that is currently dark. The watch should have been called the "far side of the moon", as it is the side that never faces Earth, not the side that never sees light.
So to answer your question, a side of the moon is called the dark side due to an ignorance of astronomy by most people, including apparently the marketing folks at Omega.

0:27 the Apollo 8 crew were the first to see the backside of the Moon... we all have seen a Dark side of the Moon, as each place on the Moon is either 14 days in darkness or either 14 days in full Sunlight... do the lunar phase terms Full Moon and New Moon ring a bell ?
