    Oh no! I am sorry about your camera 🙁 loved seeing the cute boys in their apartment. loved the stories you told about you and your mum making the quilt. What a wonderful memory. Love all your videos, I watch them no matter what you are doing (and I thought the phone footage was fine too)many hugs ❤❤

    I love this idea! The thought of 3 20-minute tasks seems way more doable than working on something for an hour. Alternating active with sit-down tasks is smart too!

    Hi Karen loved your story about the floors in the pasturage having gaps in the floor my mother grew up in a humpy back in the thirties and her mother used to fill the holes with newspaper and flour glue to fill them to keep out the cold and bugs we live in Australia

    Love your basement videos and your stories! I too made a sun bonnet quilt years ago using scissors to cut each piece out. It is long gone now. I have my photos all together. My grls have gone through them and got out what they want. Now I need to go through whats left. There's always something to declutter! Your videos are real life and practical solutions. Something we can relate to. Yes, sometimes things get put in front of things, but, we just keep plugging along! Labels really do help the family to help us keep it organized! ❤❤😊😊

    Hooray!!!!! My favorite place. My husband and I have finally started in our basement. Only doing an hour or hour and a half. I have decided to do a macro organization. There is too much chaos to do micro at this time. Will do micro later. Looking in containers and labeling it and stacking along the perimeter of the basement about three high. Of course you can’t help but take out some stuff to donate or trash along the way. Have some donation in the car to drop off this week. Also have quite a bit of trash. When my husband says “donate” I am flabbergasted because he holds on to everything.

    Yes. I would like to implement the 20-20-20. It’s a good idea. I can do laundry stain spotting,sorting, and filling washing machine/make bed and tidy bedroom/and change orientation of table in kitchen so that we can access the shelves. That should be a full 20-20-20. I’ll start now. Thanks, Karen. 🌻🌼🌸🌻

    In your videos, I like when the empty cardboard boxes are recycled and gone, stuff is off the floor, and as many of the mismatched plastic containers are tossed/donated. Hi from southeast of you in Salem, MA! 80s will be a shock tomorrow through Friday! OK with 80s just don't want the high humidity!

    Good to see you in tweaking your basement. I have so little for paint supplies now, just a shoe box now. Just for touch ups . I no longer paint walls, I get too dizzy. One shell holds all that is electrical, two more are house and cleaning supplies., the fourth is for floral containers and supplies. That is it for the wire Costco stand. My bins are stores on a heavy duty shelf , with just five bins and my big heavy Kitchenaid mixer that I just use about once a month now! I now tidy and sweep up the .garage daily like any other room in the house! I purchased Zone 4 lavenders for the garden along the driveway., hope to plant tomorrow.

    My husband bought me a scanner I can take on the go that has a camera chip- micro chip in it I took it to the basement to scan pictures for my mother inlaw funeral to make a slide show it was so so easy to do the first couple pictures didn't scan right but I just took the chip and put it on my computer to see if it was working and I just had to move the picture over a little to get the picture to scan right and it worked so then I got what I needed scanned in no time at all ❤

    Glad to see you back. I hope you are feeling a little better. I am so sorry that your camera got damaged. I hope it is possible to get someone to fix it or get affordable replacement parts for those that were broken.
    I think you did an excellent job today, because you managed to tidy up a space, sort photos, label boxes and declutter trash all in one fell swoop. Well done you, especially considering you have just been ill.
    Regards your 20-20-20 method, I think it is good and will work for those who like more variety in the tasks they are doing at one time. Although, I think 30mins decluttering and then 30mins organising would be better for me, as I hate constantly switching in and out of tasks and prefer to focus for longer on one thing.
    One thing I did notice in today’s video was that you said you don’t always like doing the photos, so maybe think about why that is and think of ways you can mitigate that. Keep in mind how good it felt to pass on your son’s box of photos at the wedding. If you prioritise your other son’s boxes, then you’ll be able to pass those over to them when they come to visit in the summer and you’ll have less to manage moving forward.

    Sorry to hear about your camera, but the phone works very well. I was looking at your Outdoor/going away section... what if you moved the bikes, put the chairs standing up and use the chairs (maybe with a coverup) as a shelf for the things that are leaving the house? (no need to buy more shelves, and you are just making them a "home" instead of leaving)... just a suggestion. Love your videos.

    My aunt made us a Sunbonnet Sue pillow when we were little girls. It was a blue appliqué on a yellow background. We couldn’t figure out what that blue appliqué was. We were looking at the outline on its side and we thought hmmmm…a misshapen bow? We asked her what it was (we were young enough to not realize that wasn’t polite). She told us it was Sunbonnet Sue! We could see the shape of her then.

    If you have another folding table, maybe it could be an intentional open space over the Cat apartment where you could stage boxes for stuff that needs to leave. Your shelf idea is ideal, but it might be a bit before you get to the place where you could have that set up. This way you have an open floor

    My first thought about the shelves was if it's to leave the house, why put it back on a shelf? Maybe a way to get it out of the house more quickly? Really enjoying these videos...

    • @keelienne
      @keelienne Před 3 měsíci +1

      I agree! I would label one of the empty tubs „Declutter“ and put it next to the bin with empty bottles.
      As everyone in your house sees and uses that one often, the can also use the tub to put their stuff in, and when it’s full one of the stronger members (not you, please 😃) can carry it up!

  • @keelienne
    @keelienne Před 3 měsíci +1

    So good to see you back 💜
    You already look and sound a lot better too!
    I think you should keep the concept but upgrade to 30-30-30, as half of the time you use for telling stories and explaining, but without moving your hands - and it’s easier to add some minutes than to change those habits 😅
    I like the idea of a shelf instead of the chairs, but don’t buy a new one please. Maybe you can already condense the photos into empty bins? Would also help entering the stairs (WHO on earth built that so close to the wall?? 😳), and you can place a tub for collecting trash or recycling or donates there. Or all three, as you have enough of them 😃
    Great progress!
    My basement is filled with tubs I’d like to leave the house, but I don’t have a place to donate to (and no car to drive to one farther away), that’s my big roadblock.
    I have to post everything online and wait for people to get it, that’s a lot of work. But I can’t throw it away if it’s still usable.. urgh. A dilemma!
    Filming with your phone is fine, but it will drain the battery quite a bit so you might need a new phone sooner.. as a photographer I can tell you, that repairing is not worth anymore most of the times, especially if it concerns the lenses.
    But you can look online, if you don’t want the newest model you can get a new camera for little money quite often.
    My fingers are crossed for you!

    • @maryl234
      @maryl234 Před 3 měsíci +1

      I agree - no more shelving - better to condense and even continue to purge - like the extra nails/picture hangers AND the bin they are stored in.
