In Feb 2014 was my wedding. My home was filled with 30 ppl and was like a fish market. All waiting for the bus to board to mandapam. I just put this video in my then Sony 51 inch tv and there was pin drop silence 😎. Such an effect of RaGa music 😍
The raga malika from the 30th minute is superb and have no words to describe, how ecstatic it is. What a potential these vidushi sisters have. God bless them all the time. They make India proud.
"amba nee irangaenil" is my all time favorite papanasam sivan composition. So simple yet profound lyrics.

Margazhi Maha Utsavam, this year, I feel the best performance was by Ranjani & Gayathri. Amongst the Sruti, Laya. Thala and the meaning of the Songs, the very best was there Bhava Anga which can only touch your heart and mind, that is Divine Music and which only leads to Moksha. All great (Musical) Saints proved it in Bharat.. It is complete Surrender to the Almighty.
It is a song asking supreme mother "whether I am a toy for you". Heart rendering words sung with devotion.
kalpanaswaras in vasantha raga and bhajan in darbari kanada were outstanding and
memorable.

good diction, melody and control over the raga have all come together in the singing of these sisters... it is rare to have all three traits.. it is a pleasure to hear them sing....

I despise the stupid advertisements that are inserted into these beautiful performances inappropriately. Indian classical music and dances require full immersion into the experience for the listener and the viewer. It is pure experience...and when interrupted by cheap advertisements it not only disturbs, but it actually annoys the listener to the point where the advertised product will be shunned. Do Indian businesses not do research to figure out how to affect psychology positively without irritating the Indian listener or viewer? Indian business management and marketing stupidly borrow from the West, hence actually insult Indian consumer by poor and irritating advertising and product placement. Don't insert ads in the middle of songs. Do it at the end or during breaks. Show respect for your own culture.

Beautiful theme. I am sure they will do other themes. Mata Kaali was superb. Bhimsen Joshi sang a remarkable version of this...and kind of created the blueprint. But Rajani and Gayathri nailed it 98%. These two are outstanding performers. Their cultural roots are definitely strong in their rendition of many Raagas. They are Tam Brahms from Mumbai like me. Go Mumbai.
