Not anymore. Well, not necessarily. Lucasfilm recently stated that the entire Expanded Universe is non-canonical. The only things that definitely happened in the Star Wars universe as of now are the six movies and the Clone Wars animated series. That's it. That's not to say that Boba Fett won't show up in the new trilogy, but as of right now there's no reason to believe that he escaped the sarlacc pit. It happened in Dark Empire (I believe) so officially it never happened.
lassi kinnunen I wasn't making a judgment on whether it was good or bad, I was just stating the fact that the Expanded Universe never happened anymore. Personally, I see why they did it. It would have been a nightmare trying to keep continuity with the expanded universe when writing episodes 7-9. And it's not like I read everything, so for the most part it is a non-issue for me. There are a few things that make me sad that they won't be an official part of the canon though. For example, the Thrawn trilogy and Knight of the Old Republic were great and added a lot to the richness of the universe. Shadows of the Empire was great. Some of the expanded universe characters feel as much a part of Star Wars as any of the characters from the movies. I can still enjoy those things, but it is different knowing that they're basically fan-fiction now. I like how Dr. Who treats canon: anything that has ever been published or aired is basically canon. If it conflicts with something? Meh, it's wibbly wobbly timey wimey.
EU is my universe! Darth Vitiate is my lord! Revan is iight, however SWTOR is where the shits at, locus films were amazing, but there really not anything to be magnified over, Some scenes are people just standing there i.e D.vader vs Ben Kenobi, They just stood there talking, Luke skywalker was burnt by Sidious' force lightning but didn't even have one battle wound meaning Sidious isn't really that strong. With all that said, ill always be a fan of TOR and such, Revan and all that good stuff.
