God Im going to miss this. I cant believe 9 days ago I saw this in my feed. I thought I was going to watch later(it was a busy week) and then it was all over 8 days later.
RIP Ed Piskor, you were such an inspiration, and will live on in our memories, and between the panels. You're with Kirby and Ditko, and all the other greats.
Jim Rugg, you are also a great inspiration, a true friend of the medium, and in life Ed, and to all of us.

Very bittersweet seeing the channel back up after everything that has transpired. Me and my dad have spent countless hours watching these two provide such captivating commentary on the medium, it felt like no stone was left unturned in the coverage of artists, genres, and years of releases. I can't see myself rewatching at the moment, it's hard enough to see and hear Ed for the first time since the news, but Im extremely grateful that this legacy is perserved, and can further continue for new audiences that come across this duo.

Ed if you're up there somewhere with the greats i hope you know your contribution to the meduim will never be forgotten. This channel invigorated my passion and love for comics and pop culture as a whole. I have learned a tremendous amount from watching the show. I find myself looking for books that are being forgotten slowly like Puma Blues, Faust, anything Clowes, Alex Toth art, Love and Rockets, etc. I am deeply hurt and will always remember you for the great work you did on this show and the work you've done in the industry. You will not be forgotten, I only wish you would have just thought it through. Many people love you and still do. Many turned their backs on you and you deserved a chance to be heard. I'm a ball of rage and grief right now and I didn't know where else to go that wouldn't be manipulated by people serving some sort of agenda. CK reignited a love of comics and cartooning I had lost since childhood, and for that I will always be eternally grateful. RIP, Ed. Please forgive us for failing you.

No matter how it all shakes out…I’m thankful for this channel.
For the love and knowledge of comics expressed on this channel, the frankness and no punches pulled critiques of bad art/writing, the way Jim and Ed got the best inside info out of other artists/writers. Just as good as it can get when it comes to loving and appreciating comics.
These last couple days have only strengthened that love of comics (and this channel) for me. I’ll save the eulogizing of Ed for those that really knew him as a man, but his love of art always shone through. The way he immersed himself into that murky industry was commendable and fills me with resolve to read more, learn more, appreciate more.
Thanks, Jim and Ed for being the reading consiglieres to many, many, many, people.

The 80s are easily my favorite decade of comics. Nexus, American Flagg!, Grim Jack, Elementals, Grendel, Mage, Zot!, Miracleman, Scout, Bryne FF, Simonson Thor, Stern Spidey, Claremont X-Men, Secret Wars, Crisis on Infinite Earths… Shall I go on 😅

I don't know if it was the best, but the late 70s to early-mid 80s (Bronze Era) was my favorite. The Marvel stuff in the 60s was perhaps the closest second. I think it may have something to do with the fact that those were the comics of my childhood but it could also be that those comics were the most awesome as well. I've never felt quite the same magic in the 90s or beyond and have little to no interest in comics much beyond that period.
I would guess, I'm probably not alone.

R.I.P Ed Piskor 😢 I knew about his skill as an artist from comics but I wished I knew about these cool podcasts & interviews prior to his death. The way he spoke so passio ately as a fan of the medium who broke into the majors warms my heart. I only wished this passion could have saved him from the abyss of depression and...yeah.

As graphic designer on the book, I'm thrilled you guys enjoyed the layout of all the interiors. The book was a labor of love and I, along with Keith, made an effort to include a mix of iconic images alongside more obscure imagery from fanzines and house ads and such. Each chapter opens with a banger spread representing a pivotal moment from that year. I also wanted the book to be a historical tome as well as a visual history, so every page and spread contained as much dynamic effect as possible, with character exploding onto the page. The timelines for each chapter were often challenging, but seems like they were a hit.
All that said, I was a bit disheartened to hear "TwoMorrows needs better graphic designers" after hearing you guys rave for 38 minutes about the interiors. Please be aware, there are legal/financial considerations about featuring Batman or the X-Men prominently on the cover of a book, so we had to make very strategic choices on what would be featured. So some of what you wanted to see.... that was out of my hands. The publisher ultimately favored a minimalist approach, which I think ended up working quite nicely for a series of high-end historical books - and the trade dress has carried through nicely on the entire line.

Great book and amazing coverage of definitely the best decade for comicbooks. I remember how closely knit the publishers + start-up creators + comicshop owners were back then. First comics was publishing MARS as well as American Flagg back then and the legendary Joe Sarno was a strong supporter, for local talent. I got those books in a hobby gift package deal from Montgomery Ward from my mom! Love the mention of Bill WIllingham as well- my grade school pals and i were playing the Villains and Vigilantes RPG which preceded the Marvel Superheroes RPG back in 86 too. So many memories. Thanks!

To think the channel has lost one of its primary creators to a mob of cancel culture pitchfork wielding gun jumpers is both infuriating and heartbreaking. I have this and loved it. Could not put it down. The 1980s is easily my favorite decade in comics and this is from someone who started reading comics in the early 90s. Btw their Chronicles on the 1990s is just as good and hope you guys put it under the microscope.

I've always wondered how much of the publishing returns scams were small-time shenanigans vs. organized crime. I guess paper was cheap enough then you could still make money with much of your product just vanishing, but there had to be some other angle.

Karen Berger was married to Richard Bruning, writer, designer, DC exec. Bob Rozakis was married to Laurie Rozakis, grammatician and prolific author. Bob Rozakis was my favourite author at theage of 8, which waned, but he did have a lot to do with printing innovations and was also a DC exec.
