NOTE for everyone listening: Yes, they probably asked Toby Fox to do this song. Yes, it may be bizarre that TOBY FOX did an Ed Sheeran remix. Here's why it sounds the way it does. This is the credits song, right? Well, Toby Fox has made credits music before; take a look at Deltarune's chapter endings. You'll see the resemblance quite quickly, especially with Ch2 Credits; altered vocals, warm chords, simple song structure. Sure, it's not a complex arrangement filled with extravagant melodies. But it's warm, the style combines retro with new age in a fun way, and it reminds you of the journey that's passed. Don't worry, Toby Fox isn't losing his edge, and the Pokemon Company isn't going mental. This song results from a combination of decisions that you may or may not like!
The DLC was a solid 7/10 and then this song hit me like a truck and I just started sobbing uncontrollably while screaming into my pillow how much I love Pokémon and that I got to do this DLC with my 20 year old Sceptile from Emerald.
I loved bringing all my starters into Scarlet. I saw some Pokémon that I haven't been able to see on the Switch. I give the DLC 8/10 and the Base game a 7/10. But together the DLC and Base game. I'd say 9/10. Sure it has it's problems but you look into the story writing. It's a amazing feat by Game Freak.
Same for me I get the feeling they picked this song because of Kiki’s adventure with trying to beat the main character overall it’s a great way to end it I give it a 8/10 as well
Feel free to ignore this as it's kind of weird. I came to a realization about why I love what I love while listening to this song. After hearing the original in the end credits of the base game, I haven't been able to get it out of my head. I haven't liked almost any Ed Sheeran song since his first album, but something about Celestial was...special. It also got me thinking about the fact that I love Scarlet and Violet, yet a lot of people seem to hate them. I don't mind the bugs or textures. I just...love them. Just as much as every Pokémon game I've ever played. This also got me thinking about everything that I've ever liked that a lot of people seem not to, which I've never understood. But I think that I get it now. When I feel the love poured into something, that's when I love it. The more love behind it, the more I love it. And I feel the love from Ed, from Toby, and from everybody involved with the development of these games and this story. Even as a Pokémon fan since childhood, I feel that this is truly the best Pokémon has ever been, and I'm so excited to see what else they have in store.
Celestial truly holds a special place in my heart. Me and my medic buddies from our Army job school played SV together when it launched. Those guys mean the world to me and i couldnt be happier to have met them
You just made me attach this song to my roommates of the past 4 years, and we all go our separate ways in May. Come on man, I'm supposed to be doing homework not wondering what I'll do without them...
I love this remix! I dont know if anyone mentioned this, but you can hear bits of Area Zero and Paldea's background music in there! I enjoyed Scarlet's and Violet's story so much, and there's still a bit of catching for me to do. Thank you, Nintendo and Niantic, for making me emotional and making me start playing Pokémon for the first time! 😢 Koraidon and Miraidon are both so adorable and awesome! Here's to more adventuring with Pokémon!
Ed Sheeran isn't as bad as the internet likes to portray - he's a talented guy even if all of his sound like they're meant for middle school prom, but that's not necessarily bad
I didnt know how to feel about this remix at first, but Ive come around to it, it's really well composed with the area zero and other SV tracks mixed in.
It’s amazing, the fact that Toby Fox, who made two of my most favorite video games, Undertale and Deltarune, also made this remixed track for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet with Ed Sheeran.
When I read the name "toby fox" in the credits, my heart immediately swelled. This man is so great, I can't even put it into words. Everything he touches turns to gold in my eyes!❤
It can't be, actually-the Professor can't have given their book to you, since you find it in the lighthouse lab and use it to shut down the time machine.
@@milk_choc7889 I suppose it could be a similar concept but you start the next universe's Sada on her inevitable downfall and allow the events of the game to take place, much like how another version of ourselves could've started the chain of events in the cartridge/universe our specific main character is in
@@milk_choc7889you do realize that wasn't the only copy of the scarlet/violet book. The professor could have easily gotten another book. Just look in the academy, they have another scarlet/violet book copy, and even Arven acknowledges it just looks like another copy. People really keep trying to make it seem like the mc didn't ruin Arven's life lol. Though to be fair it could have very well been another dimensional variant of the mc that effected a different dimensional variant of another professor if we want to be specific. But result is still the same regardless lol.
Perhaps, although I have a sneaking suspicion that the Epilogue may involve Sada/Turo being brought back due to trading the books. Sada (And presumably Turo given the differences between the games are skin deep in this area) mentions how she/he should read the book at home, and reflects that they haven't been home in quite some time. I don't think they would have had us interact with the real professor if they weren't planning to give Arven a happier ending. Personally, I don't know if I'd prefer them to stand firm on the message that the professor was blinded by their obsession and paid dearly for it, or to relent and end on a more positive note.
@@kairi4640the professor was already spending all their time doing research in Area Zero before encountering the player so you can't blame the player for that

as funny as it is to see TOBY FREAKING FOX remix an ED SHEERAN SONG, i genuinely teared up a bit when i first heard this. i got to return to unova for the first time since my dsi was sold over 10 years ago, have some of my most challenging battles since postgame leon or bdsp cynthia, and remember exactly why we all love this region so much. my munkidori came with a gentle nature, so i decided to give him a second chance to do the right thing and redeem himself. he helped us teach kieran the importance of not only helping others but also ACCEPTING help, which is something i still need to remind myself sometimes as a former “gifted kid”. the ending felt a bit rushed tbh but i can still say that i’m satisfied with this dlc and absolutely loved it. pokémon violet is one of the most well-written games i’ve ever played, and i enjoyed every second of the story despite the glitches. to my skeledirge, tinkaton, annihilape, kingambit, munkidori, ogerpon and gallade… it’s been fun, may our journey together continue🥰
I enjoyed the DLC well enough, but this remix makes me absolutely bawl my eyes out and I’m not even entirely sure why. Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve cried to a song by Toby Fox, but goddamn. The song is definitely about Kieran, but I guess I related to the lyrics and his story enough for this to hit pretty close to home. Not to mention the melodramatic instrumental and that leitmotif, it hits the soul in a good way I guess.
I didn't care at all for Celestial but this remix hit different, especially after Kieran asked us for a second chance. Rinse and repeat, just as the lyrics say
this song floods so many emotions for me, it was playing when i completed platinum and the credits were rolling. i couldn’t help but cry, it truly is a beautiful creation
Same hearing this while looking back at what Pokemon has been through from day one is truly something I remember back then me in my sister were young in we watched Pokemon shows together all of the time in now we are older in rarely talk to each other in how ash Ketchum left us in once again hearing this song makes me smile in shed a tear as I miss those days of glory 🥲
I really hope this gets an official release!! Such a cool twist on Ed’s song, already loved the original, but this just hits different, in a good way. :)
i don't know what is up for us in the future but we have to keep going, rinse and repeat it all again for the friends we don't have anymore, for the friends we are going to have, and for the friends we have now... the paldean gang, the blueberry brothers and more to come we have to make'em proud
As someone who really loved the first two gens and just couldn’t get into anything that came after(and not for a lack of trying with quite a few), this game was so great to just let surprise me, even in spite of all the jank. Maybe it was the low expectations, at this point I really did only get it initially just to hear Toby Fox’ music. And here it is. Not his usual kind of thing, either, but I can get behind both him and Ed Sheeran. The entire thing works so well because of how great the story and characters are, and it didn’t even need to be all that convoluted either. Just needed to pull at some heartstrings and be mildly entertaining, and most of all take the training wheels off and let the players enjoy stuff at their leisure. Hoping from here on I can enjoy this series again.
Man, what's with that reaction? I mean, I get it. It's really, really, REALLY weird. And I understand that people dislike Ed Sheeran because his songs are spammed on every radio station. But damn, this is good. Like, it's obvious Toby Fox had his hand in this, because it reminds me so much of Deltarune's Ch.2 credits song. And I think the details were chosen for a reason. The audio quality makes it seem like a distant memory in my eyes. You know, like, you're remembering a song you have heard on the radio as a kid before or a song your parents or grandparents used to love. And the repeating of the line "rinse and repeat" as well has some meaning to it. I would tell you what, but I suck at that kind of thing, so if someone who is better versed in that area wants to do the honors, be my guest. But honestly, I really like it. I can understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but man
"Rinse and repeat" is meant to represent Kieran's journey of being in a constant cycle of training in order to try and best you until you free him from this toxic mindset
@@ncisfan1002 good to know I was on the right track then. I was giving it some thought myself but I came to a different conclusion. Since it's after the events of the Indigo Disk, it would be more like Kieran coming to terms with not being unbeatable, or rather not being able to beat us. Like he accepted the fact he's going to fail from time to time, but he will always get up and try again harder next time instead of obsessing over that fact. I think it symbolizes his growth over the course of the DLC
I really don’t get it either Unless the radio spams celestial til you get sick of it why does it matter for this particular song if you don’t like Ed Sheeran??? It’s one thing to simply not be a fan of the song but to dislike like it “because” it’s Ed Sheeran is just weird man

I really hope that game freak makes more games that are this devoted to the story line. The scarlet and violet story line was an emotional roller coater, and this is the first time in a pokemon game that I have ever seen the characters as more than just “npcs”. These games gave so much life to the characters and so much personality. When I got to the Indigo Disk’s end credits I nearly started to cry because it made me so emotional.
@@Sam-TheFullBull Nothing wrong with not liking the song, but what’s wrong with the lyrics? I think they fit the story and characters of the game pretty well. When I heard the original Celestial after beating the main story, I teared up a little lmao. I wasn’t even expecting something like that to play, but the vibe of the song was like the cherry on top after what these characters went through. This remix does the same thing, but feels more melancholic and reflective, since it really does feel like the end of the story now. Even Toby repeating “rinse and repeat” over and over feels like he’s emphasizing how the main character has been able to help a lot of people-first Arven, Penny, and Nemona, and now Carmine and Kieran. They’ve all had their own personal struggles and insecurities, but now they’re all friends. I think that’s really touching. I love XY’s credits theme (which also had lyrics and fit the story and themes of the game, just no vocals) but the story and characters itself were too half-baked for me to think it deserved a song like that. SV totally made up for that imo.
I’m so sad we’re saying goodbye to Paldea now. But in two weeks we’ll see what’s coming up and I’m hoping it’s a straight continuation of the story in Unova with the terastal phenomenon. Pokémon has always been about one region with very little mention of previous games. I think most fans would be happy if all pokemon games followed a timeline and story rather than each game feeling like its own timeline and set story. Imagine in the next game we have new a Unova BW 3 game and then we go back to Paldea again or even just Kitakami. It would just be such a nice and emotional callback to this game
I enjoy this song, and i like the remix a lot. Scarvi are my absolute favorite pokemon games since black and white, and it's such a shame that game freak rushed it out before it was ready. These games are so full of love and passion and so many people will never know because they just wont give it a chance. The stories and characters made me feel actual genuine emotion. I just finished the indigo disk tonight and when this song played it started to make me choke up. These games are wonderful
. . .Ooooh, he's saying "rinse and repeat." I seriously spent the entire credits trying to figure this out (and I never bothered to learn the words to the original version).
I see a lot of people saying things like "Ed Sheeran made me dislike a Pokémon song", but for me it was the opposite: Pokémon made me love an Ed Sheeran song. Hearing it in the credits after the excellent climax of the main game was the perfect time for reflection and as a result of reflecting on the ending while listening to the song they're permanently linked together in my mind. It doesn't take a whole lot of imagination to think of the song as being in the perspective of Miraidon/Koraidon either. That being said though I'm not a huge fan of this version, the sentence mixing sounds kinda sloppy. I appreciate the small details though, like the various motifs thrown in.

Same for me I get the feeling they picked this song because of Kiki’s adventure with trying to beat the main character overall it’s a great way to end it I give it a 8/10 as well
sorry but both DLC sucks as hell
the game too thought but people cant open their eyes
And now....its time for the next pokemon journey to begin.
When one door closes, another opens. A cycle that's happened for over 9 generations to now

@@Gamer1288 Yep, thank God it's an epilogue and not a mystery gift this time around, but after that, that's it.
Hey Red!
rinse and repeat.
We officially are living in the best timeline. Ed and Toby both doing songs for Pokémon AND collabbing on one too, how can this get any better?
Ash appearing in horizons, even as a cameo or smth

Celestial truly holds a special place in my heart. Me and my medic buddies from our Army job school played SV together when it launched. Those guys mean the world to me and i couldnt be happier to have met them
You just made me attach this song to my roommates of the past 4 years, and we all go our separate ways in May. Come on man, I'm supposed to be doing homework not wondering what I'll do without them...
Absolutely love this version. The ambience is great
I love this remix!
Rinse and repeat has a new meaning with the ending. 🙃
Ed Sheeran isn't as bad as the internet likes to portray - he's a talented guy even if all of his sound like they're meant for middle school prom, but that's not necessarily bad
You should check out his not main stream stuff then
He did lots of great songs with raggey, rock and rap artists
@@KingJohnMichaelHis latest two albums as well - more stripped back similar to his first one and produced by Aaron Dessner
Ed Sheeran and Toby Fox is a very interesting collab tbh. Good remix tbh

I just finished the story and this song caught my attention from the first note
What a wonderful remix
God this remix made me feel nostalgia for the base game of scarlet, and even the dlc i just played! Jesus that was weird but in a good way.
Since the entire story is implied to be a bootstrap paradox started by our character, the rinse and repeat lyric kinda makes sense
@@kairi4640the professor was already spending all their time doing research in Area Zero before encountering the player so you can't blame the player for that
I cried the first time I heard it and I really want it on Spotify 😢
Scarlet and violet are my favourite games and the dlc made it even better, both 10/10 imo, great characters, captivating story, emotion/epic music all around. I wish I could forget the story so I could play it all over again! 🥹🥹🥹🥹
as funny as it is to see TOBY FREAKING FOX remix an ED SHEERAN SONG, i genuinely teared up a bit when i first heard this. i got to return to unova for the first time since my dsi was sold over 10 years ago, have some of my most challenging battles since postgame leon or bdsp cynthia, and remember exactly why we all love this region so much. my munkidori came with a gentle nature, so i decided to give him a second chance to do the right thing and redeem himself. he helped us teach kieran the importance of not only helping others but also ACCEPTING help, which is something i still need to remind myself sometimes as a former “gifted kid”. the ending felt a bit rushed tbh but i can still say that i’m satisfied with this dlc and absolutely loved it.
pokémon violet is one of the most well-written games i’ve ever played, and i enjoyed every second of the story despite the glitches. to my skeledirge, tinkaton, annihilape, kingambit, munkidori, ogerpon and gallade… it’s been fun, may our journey together continue🥰

I think it was nice hearing this when the credits rolled. The mix between the og song and the Paldea theme is very good👏🏼. Hope it’s on Spotify soon
Toby Fox making me enjoy a Sheeran tune. Mad lad.
Just finished the DLC last night and listening to this at the end make me sad 😢

A nice soft ending to an amazing generation.
I thought Ed Sheeran making a song for Pokemon was crazy.
Toby Fox then remixing said Ed Sheeran song is on a whole other level
I didn't care at all for Celestial but this remix hit different, especially after Kieran asked us for a second chance. Rinse and repeat, just as the lyrics say
this song floods so many emotions for me, it was playing when i completed platinum and the credits were rolling. i couldn’t help but cry, it truly is a beautiful creation

The timelines diverged with that one
This brought back memories from when the game first released
I really don’t get it either
Unless the radio spams celestial til you get sick of it why does it matter for this particular song if you don’t like Ed Sheeran???
It’s one thing to simply not be a fan of the song but to dislike like it “because” it’s Ed Sheeran is just weird man
@@ncisfan1002 isn't this what we do when we start a new journey? Rinse and repeat it all over again

SV totally made up for that imo.
the fox is mad. this song got copyright strikes all over. toby didn’t want that to happen. we must push for this to be open! rinse and repeat!❤
“Rinse and repeat” he repeats these words the most in the remix to remind us we have been buy the same game for Years 😂❤
