I have an RP, R6 and a R5 with a lots of L lenses for my serious work. I just picked up an R10 this past week as a small, light weight, easy to use run and gun photo and video camera. It works great with the smaller and cheaper RF lenses and easily adapted EF-S lenses for a wide range of options. Plan on using this as a travel camera as well.
Picked one of these up last month when t was on sale with the 18-45mm kit lens for $799. Had no intention of buying one but couldn't pass it up at that price. I shoot professionally and just used it for a shoot I did for a modeling agency, along with the RF 35 f/1.8 and it killed it. The AF speed and tracking easily kept up even when the models were walking and spinning around etc..Video is pretty good, even the cropped 4K 60p and Im quite surprised by the kit lens. Perfectly fine for group shots outdoors in good light where you arent using a shallow DOF anyways. Sharpness and colors were really good. Most kit lenses for the EF mount were throwaways but this is actually useable. Only downsides for me is no IBIS and EP17 battery, but can't really complain for the price. I doubt it will be my main camera, but will be a great 2nd body. Easy recommendation for new or even semi-pro shooters.
Pretty sure the Canon R100 and the R50 are lower than the R10. Would also say the R8 isn't better either, larger sensor but felt like owning half a car at almost double the cost here in the UK, the R10 can be bought for as low as £698 which i paid brand new, the R8 is £1200+, the R7 at £1299+. The extras for the R7 aren't worth almost double price, then the R10 has a flash, the R7 doesn't so that's about another £100+ unless you cheap out. Honestly, if i were to spend more than what the R10 can be had for new, i would save the extra for a full frame camera that is not the R8. Also, avoid the R100, that camera shouldn't exist, the R50 is ok but has an old sensor and only if you can get it at a good price.
Thanks for the info. I’d consider myself an intermediate photographer, I’ve been using a 5D Mk III for years and it’s time to update my gear. Everyone seems to refer to this as a great beginner camera but from what I can tell it seems like a great camera all around! I have no problem factoring in the crop when buying nicer RF lenses. What factors can you see limiting someone who wouldn’t call themselves a beginner but doesn’t want to spend another $500-1000 for one of the more professional R bodies? Thanks!
People that are new to photography. Just remember you don’t need the latest greatest full frame camera to make money with photography if that’s what you wanna do. I make $100,000 a year with an 80D and a Mavic 3. And it’s not from CZcams.
I wish this video was available a month ago! Was debating between the R10, R7 and R8. I am pregnant with my forth and needed a new camera but also wanted something to grow into and possibly get into photography (family/baby photos). I ended up going the R8. Loving it so far but been feeling guilty spending so much (took a while to save up for it) and now wondering if i should have saved on the camera to spend that extra on lenses. What zoom lens would you recommend that won't break the bank? My only lens currently is the 35mm f1.8. Would greatly appreciate your feedback!!
@@VanessaJoy thank you! It's on my list and you may have just bumped it up! Between the R10 and R8 do you think the extra cash was worth going to the R8 vs R10?
Hello, I bought an R10 3 months ago. I have an 18 150 mm and a 50 mm 1.8 lens. I don't like the photos I take. Do you think I should change my camera? Can you please give me advice?😢
That’s a big question. I don’t think camera gear is likely the reason you don’t like your photos. I’ve taken photos I love with the R10 and that 50mm lens. I would figure out what you don’t love about them and see how you can change thay
Vanessa please help me . Can a godox v860ii v860iii or any other speed light fit this canon eos R10. I cant seem to find the contact points on the hotshoe. I also noted that you are using a third party flash on your R10. Any extension of help would be appreciated.
The 50 probably. I like how it looks better on a face vs the 16, even on a cropped sensor. You’ll need enough room to set the camera far enough back though
Not the form factor for me but they will sell a ton of these - especially if they throw in a free EF to RF converter (or offer a coupon as least) to rope in the Rebel DSLR crowd. Now if they had a full frame version that doesn't cost an R8 and has an LP-e6 instead of that sh*tty LP-e17 I would be an immediate buyer
@@WasionKey If the R had Digic X modernized AF, processing and the R6ii/R8 sensor, yes! I need a disposable yet capable camera to put into harm's way, so I don't have to risk my RF L lens collection and R3/R5 bodies. For this purpose I use my R6 (got tired of switching batteries on my RP), but even that is overkill and too conspicuous.
@@mxilplict The original R is by far my favorite camera, and if it had a true predecessor, it'll literally would be my perfect camera. Rocking the OG R6 right now as well. Sold my R for an fx30

Yes! I have a travel vlog coming out using this camera solely

You’re correct. Those two cameras were not out when I made this video ☺️
Love your analysis of everything else. Quite helpful for everyone!
I am a hobby photographer using a Canon 80D and thinking of getting the R10.
Maybe at a future date I will upgrade to one mirrorless line. Awesome review as always. Something to worth considering since auto focus is very good.
That’s absolutely a huge benefit

It’s definitely not as fast as the more professional bodies. I’d have trouble focusing in low light specifically

😂
i used for professional photo and works very well . If u have lens is perfect u dont need a very expensis camera , invest in lens.
Yes 🙌
Is the R10 far better than the R50? I was leaning toward the R50, but now I'm not sure. 😕
They’re both good starter points bc of being in the RF lens line for one… partial depends on budget
Another great informative video 😊 looks like a good little unit
It’s fun for sure!
thanks for making the video.
I just order the R7 for weeding photography, I hope I made a good choice because it was between the r10 and the r7, Any coment? Thank Youuu
Good choice!

Does the Pro photo work well with the canon M50 mark 2

I think so?

Not sure if I caught it in the review, but how long does it shoot video?
2 hr. Max. movie continuous recording time available: Normal: 2 hr. High Frame Rate movie (Full HD 120/100fps): 30 min.

Then WTF are M50 , M50 m2 , R100 , R50 ??
Entry level is subjective for sure
@@VanessaJoy why R10 is a entry level camera for you ?
So if the R10 sits below the R8, and is cheaper, why does it have a mechanical shutter and the R8 doesn't?
🤷🏻♀️ not a clue why. My only guess would be to keep the r8 cost down
Because it's much cheaper to make a mechanical shutter for an APS-C camera than a FF camera.

The lowest Canon in the R100.
Right… that came out after this was published
