I was 10 when I watched this, stayed up late. watching this 40 years later made me cry when Parks saved that last goal. What a time to be a football fan in those late 1970s early 1980s, when British football really ruled Europe...

Says a lot about the class of Spurs fans.
The reaction when Danny Thomas missed that penalty. What class.
This was in 84 remember. Times were a lot different.
It was a young black lad who missed that penalty.
The Spurs fans singing his name when he could have cost Spurs the cup. They let the player know it wasn’t his fault.
We see this recently when Bukayo Saka played at Spurs after his penalty miss in the Euros.
    He was clapped and cheered.
    And he’s an Arsenal player.
If the proverbial boot was on the other…
You wouldn’t get that from Arsenal fans, certainly not from Chelsea’s and West Ham? Forget it.

Bought a ticket from a tout for this and watched it from the West Stand on more or less the half-way line. Apart from the game itself two memories stay with me: just before the game watching kids bunking over the turnstiles at the Paxton end (where I normally went) with the turnstile men doing nothing to stop them and then, once inside, the most electric atmosphere of expectation of my lifetime, it made all the hairs on your head stand up. White Hart Lane packed with home support for a European final, nothing to beat it. What a shame the upcoming Champions League final will be more packed with corporate hospitality freeloaders than genuine Tottenham and Liverpool fans. COYS!

That is not what I meant ! I never said all of them are black and muslim but a great number are !!!! same for France !!!!!! may be you do not watch the premier league enough which is difficult by any means to spot any english players being replaced by other nationalities in order to make money for the clubs with huge amount of money from the TV rights !!!!

Wondered the same thing as I have a memory of him playing (Mandela effect?) but apparently (from his wiki) Hoddle proved to be the architect behind the team's 1984 UEFA Cup triumph despite missing the Final due to fitness concerns.

I remember this and loved the nostalgia. However, where did we go wrong as a nation of football fans when we now racially abused black players for missing a penalty. Well done, WHL and Spurs fans, for making him still feel welcome after his miss.

Anderlech shouldn't had been qualified to that UEFA Cup final because they robbed Nottingham Forest at the 2nd round semifinals match with the help of the Spanish referee Emilio Guruceta, the most corrupted Spanish referee from all the times. He was bought by Anderlech. At the final ,fortunately Tottenhgam Hotspur won at the final making justice.Karma exists.
