    The Entente are missing Great Britain, the USA, Belgium, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Portugal, the enitre Naval Blockade of Germany. Japan even beeing on the Central Powers, yet Germany lost in 1916? Their is a difference between alternate History and Fantasy.

    • @zazr83
      @zazr83 Před 10 dny

      Most of the Anglosphere actually didn't change the outcome of the war. The UK helped massively with the naval blockade and economic support, but that's all.

      @munchkin7508 Před 10 dny +3

      @@zazr83 What? Britain and its Dominions have estimated casualties of 900.000, to compare this, France had 1.350.000 estimated casualties. Brititsh and Canadian Troops were especially at the start of the war considered, one of the best performing ones. So Britain + Dominions were almost as engaged as France on the ground. The naval blockade did break Germany in the end, because they lacked vital ressources.
      Britian was the strongest financial power, paying for American Arms, Germany now would be able to buy in this timeline.
      Britains Air force was vital.
      Britain invented tanks.
      Britain kept the Germany Navy in Check, the German navy could have challenged the French one, although this would have been close.
      US troops were the ones holding the lines in the final German offensive.
      BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY. Germany kicked Russia out of the war, even with Great Britain etc. in the war. Russia collapsed, and you are telling me that owning a bit of underdeveloped land in Asia would have changed all that?

    • @justagreekhistorian
      @justagreekhistorian  Před 10 dny +1

      In the video the war ended in 1917 but the timeline towards the end was a bit unclear so sorry for the confusion
      Secondly, though Japan may have been on the Central Powers, their contribution was next to zero. Sure, they may have occupied Korea and a little bit of Manchuria but I doubt that would affect the Russian war effort
      Now, in this timeline, Germany attempts to first knockout Russia and then focus on the "weaker" French
      Of course, since the majority of the German army was on the Eastern Front, the French would have an easier time pushing through the border and into the Rhineland. A counter-argument can be made that the fortifications were basically impossible to break through and though I do agree with that, I still think France would find some way around it - likely forcing Belgium to break neutrality and join the Entente and pull a reversed-Schlieffen Plan. The British, seeing this move, wouldn't join the Central Powers but would be disappointed at the Entente, which would render them completely neutral.
      In the video, it is shown the Germany makes similar progress as it did in our timeline but that was a mistake on my end. I originally wanted to show them reaching near the gates of Kyiv but that part of the script ended up shorter than excepted and the video turned out the way it did
      So, as a result of the French capturing the Rhineland completely by late 1916, soon German war capabilities would slowly start to collapse, and the Russians would see major gains which would boost troop moral. Thus, the revolutions are avoided and Russia remains an Empire.
      That's really the explanation I could give, and before I close off, I don't completely reject that the Central Powers would win. Obviously, there are many possibilities, from the French deciding that it's not worth to force Belgium into the Entente, to Britain threatening the Entente after the French push through Belgium to a lot of over possibilities. Any of these would obviously lead with the Central Powers victory, but it's really difficult to say for sure really. I hope this explains better my though process with the scenario and why I think this outcome - though not fully - is somewhat realistic and is not just fantasy

    • @zazr83
      @zazr83 Před 10 dny +1

      @@munchkin7508 That's exactly why I said "most of the Anglosphere" and then said that the Brits helped massively.
      And no, the French actually were already starting to push the Germans when the Americans came.
      Also, Russia, in this video, would've been ready for this war quicker as they wouldn't had to rebuild their army. Plus Russia actually could've been able to basically knock out the Austro-Hungarians extremely quickly had they focused their attack on them. This, without their full army ready (as it should've been fully operational in 1917 irl).
      So yeah, with luck and poor decisions from the Central powers, it's not so insane to say that this war would've been winnable for the Entente had the Russians win the Russo-Japanese war.

    How does Russia winning against Japan somehow cause them to beat Germany in WW1 despite being the focus of the German war effort and not having Britain on their side? As well as with India trying for independance, Germany not having the Rhineland, Axis having to support that absolutely terrible ally that the Ottomans are and also the thing in China (and possibly Iran trying to rid utself of Russian and British influence) not to mention the USA would obviously wait to see that's happening but would most likely join on the French-RUssian side.

    loved the cenario, but a bit unrealistic
    a few points:
    russia winning the russo-japanese war would make them over confident in their army capabilities, wich where really backwards compared to Germany's.
    the uk would definitely enter on the entente's side, either when Germany launches it's full invasion of russia and shows the world how imbalanced things were or when japan joins the central powers, as a 4vs2 would make Britain leave its isolationism for the balance of power.
    the war would be longer, the Germans having polish and ukranian resources as well as not committing wars crimes against Belgium would make the US really firm on their neutral position, helping us goods to ignore the UK blockade to keep good relations with the Americans.
    after years of war very fell territorial changes happen, as both sides would go for a negotiated peace, the french dont loose anything (or a feel colonies), poland and possibly Finland and Ukraine would become independent (either because of revolutions or because every other great power was afraid of the massive russian empire, and would very much like to see it crippled) and korea would become independent, russian ports in china would be given to japan (as it would be seen as rightful owner) and uk to balance it.
    the most impactful thing of this war would be the revolutions. after years of war and countless deads, the monarchs would be seen as the only reason for the war. as we saw in our timeline, i believe any monarchy suvirves after that (even Britain's)

      depending on when italy joins:
      -before the UK:
      then its a central powers victory. Italy was as good as the austrians, and i doubt the UK would join in this case, as the war would be balanced.
      -after the UK:
      maybe russian dont get as screwed in the peace deal, Austrians and russians are obligated to give autonomy to their minorities, but russia definitely loses it's grip over korea (maybe france and italy gets a some referendums on disputed territories like alsarce and istria)

    • @justagreekhistorian
      @justagreekhistorian  Před 13 dny

      I've mentioned in this in previous comments but basically let me explain
      First, Russia wins WW1 due to the Germans constantly having to send troops over in the west
      Now, the one thing that was kinda odd and looking back at it seems kinda impossible is the fact that France just pushed through the fortifications with no problem
      Well that was a bit unrealistic but you can always say that France forces Belgium to join the Entente and does a reversed Schlieffen plan. we assume that does happen, the Rhineland would be left pretty under-defended and when the French eventually do take over the region, German war capabilities would take a massive hit which would eventually lead to their downfall
      As for Czar Nicholas, I don't know what you mean exactly by "completely different"
      Sure, he was a really paranoid leader and a hungry for power dictator but I do think he would federalize the country regardless
      Finland was already autonomous and the Poles and the Armenians really demanded autonomy, he would have to eventually agree to it
      Lastly, France staying an ally of Russia is just the logical thing to do
      Though they wouldn't be enthusiastic about it, they'd have to out of convenience. Think about it, France now holds the whole of the west bank of the Rhine
      The British would hate them as they were also growing really powerful. The Germans would hate them as they would want to recover their loses
      As such, the only country France could possibly see an alliance with is Russia
      I hope this answers your questions and remember, this scenario is meant to be less realistic and more of the fun of it

    absolutely impossible. Russia after losing the russo-japanese war undertook huge reforms in their doctrine that came to aid them in ww1. If they won its likely that their already over zealous military staff wouldnt pursue any reforms and lead to them getting pushed back even further than historically. The franco-german borders since the franco-prussian war were heavily fortified and entrenched already which wouldve been next to impossible to break through. Also without the british, Germanys navy wouldve had more of a chance and could have blockaded france if done right.
    Revolution also for Russia at this point was an inevitability with deeprooted issues in social inequality, the ineffective autocracy, lack of representation for the people and the rise of revolutionary parties (Social revolutionary party, the RSDLP for example). So while the 1905 revolution is delayed, its an inevitability as the underlying issues remain and would only make it more intense. The revolution itself probably would happen early into WW1, with you saying the germans finding little resistance. That wouldve been the straw that broke the camels back, and it essentially wouldve been an early february revolution with the SRP in charge, leading to either the SRP signing brest litovsk or refusing and lenin rising to power as the russian people at this point wanted peace.
    As for France, if it werent for britain, they wouldve surely fell. Especially with an essentially decomposing russia. Germany would never have lost this hard, not even in our timeline did they lose to the point of losing the rhine. Also France was always a priority by German military doctrine, with the belief that russia wouldve taken longer to mobilise and would give them enough time to sweep through belgium and go for paris.

    Victory or not there is no way that the tsar would ever willingly federalize or even allow an actual working parliament. He was a inept power hungry dictator

    Yeah man, no. There’s no way there would be a stronger Russia, the war with Japan was a huge wake-up call and made them start modernising, even slightly. Russia would be MUCH weaker, but I don’t think this would change the outcome of the war much. This video should have been focused on China and east Asia in general, keeping WW1 about the same. Anyways, you’re pretty new at this so it makes sense you make some bad scenarios. Don’t take this comment as an insult but as constructive criticism to help you to do better in the future.

      I wanted to keep it Asia focused, but figured that I would have to figure out what's going in China which was just too much so I decided to shift it a bit to Europe, but still it was more Asiatic centered than most of my other scenarios lel
      Also, Russia wasn't stronger in the video, the great powers just thought they were
      Regardless, an Entente victory imo is still happening so it won't really change much
      Anyways, thanks for the constructive criticism, it is really refreshing seeing real points instead of just "video bad booo"

    Germany loses a war without the British in it. No. Russia's military issues were more than just loss of confidence after Japan's victory. And Germany had forts along the French border very much like the French forts that induced Germany to go through Belgium.

    • @justagreekhistorian
      @justagreekhistorian  Před 12 dny +1

      Yeah I understand the concern that the French wouldn't be able to push through the fortifications (I really didn't do the research for that part, it was kinda rushed)
      Now if I were to justify that, I would say that the French would likely force Belgium to join the Entente and push through there, which would disappoint the British but I doubt they'd still join the Central Powers
      With the Rhineland being threatened, and the Germans having to constantly redirect forces to the Western front, I do still see Russia still managing to hold out the frontline long term

    Predictions PRE WW2
    Despite Germany being ruled by Adolf, many anti-Ultranationalist parties have gained popularity ever since the great depression. Since Adolf hasn't done much to solve this situation.The Ottoman empire faced a lot of terrorist rebellions in the middle east, which led up to the Saudi-Turkish compromise in 1930.
    A Christian dictatorship was set up in mexico which worried the US. Herbert Hoover made the horrible mistake and invaded mexico. Mexico quickly capitulated but despite this, FDR still won and became president.
