Listening to Denny and Mike do the telecast, compared to what passes for network coverage today, makes me pine for the old days.

Duke did go on to win Player of the Year in '94 and I think it was all the more incredible because of the fact he was signed with Faball
and they were not making very good bowling balls at that time. I owned a pro shop back then and I distinctly remember their initial blue reactive hammer, it was just the blue hammer core in a reactive shell but that ball just didn't have any of the magic that the urethane version did. In fact, there were times when the urethane ball hooked more than the reactive! And he won player of the year throwing their stuff..pretty amazing.

Norm Duke is one of my favorite bowlers! He's very talented, he's a humble man, he has a very good sense of humor, and he is handsome. I also like the way that he always mentions his wife Karen when he wins a tournament. After 2000, whenever he won a tournament, he mentioned his wife Karen and his son Branden. I saw his wife once and she's a pretty woman.

Norm Duke puts a tremendous amount of roll on the ball.

Some interesting things with this show. Can’t believe Tom Baker can roll the ball out with all that spin. And why didn’t Pete stick with that release? Coming up directly behind the ball might have suited the equipment and conditions better...

I remember having a great coach back then who used to teach that whenever you do anything physical (or mental) that increases the odds of making a bad shot or missing a spare, work on it until it's eliminated. And he used to use Duke as an example of the exception to that kind of rule saying, 'I can't understand why he (Duke) doesn't miss more spares because he almost always loses his balance on ten pins and comes up at the line'. Maybe that was one time that it bit him.

My sentiments exactly!!!! Let's not forget Dick Weber Lanes in Florrisant, MO. And Hoffman Lanes in IL (The Peterson classic). Among countless other casualties.
