HOW I REVIEW:
As you might know from my „How I make a buying decision“ video: Rather than just looking at the pros, I like to evaluate the cons or flaws of an item and then evaluate if I can live with them. That is why in my video reviews I concentrate more on the cons of an item rather than going over all the features. Therefore everything shown is just a fraction of all the points that go into the verdict and score of an item.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUICKLOOK AND A REVIEW:
A Quicklook usually covers pre-production units or items that I only used for a short period of time. While Reviews cover final items that I have reviewed intensively.

For all my videos I decided not to include links for the products. Everyone is living in different countries and therefore has to deal with different shipping and customs fees. That is why I would advice everyone just to Google the product within their country to find the best deals.
For instance: I live in Germany, It wouldn’t make sense to give you a German link while you might be living in USA or Asia. I hope that is understandable.

So premium priced 😅). But more than that, I'm looking forward for the kosan travel system. I'm a sucker for these innovative travel system, so having a review from you is a surprise to be sure, but a very welcome one. I'm also a sucker for "I'm looking for an EDC bag but didn't find one that fits my need, so I designed one for myself", so a bigger surprise to learn about the dayfarer backpack. I'm rambling now... I love the idea of the travel lab. As a woman that's something i already do. I travel only with a carry on but where i usually go, my travel carry on is usually too big for day activities. So i always pack a small purse or small tote for that.

Another great video Bo! Do you have any recommendations for a light camera bag? Ideally, I would hold an SLR, an extra lens, a laptop and have an exterior mounting option for a tripod.
+leafsfan71 thanks, mate. I usually opt for a separate camera gear pouch that I just fit into my regular backpack. The Boundary bag should fit all the stuff that you have mentioned, but I'm not sure if you would consider it lightweight

Bo Ismono i got the brown secrid slimwallet, spacepen, and the orbitkey 2.0. I tried the leatherman style cs but ended up with the skeletool cx. I've been looking around for 1 item from your video "Money and Documents", that document folder was gorgeous!
Cool. The skeletool CX is on my wishlist, but I am worried that it its too big for daily carry. The document folder is awesome, but it was a gift and I have no idea were to get it from unfortunately

I'm still testing it. It is pretty cool. It is bigger than "regular" slingbags. has lots of compartments, which can get confusing in the beginning just because there are soooo many ;-)

+Lukas T I haven't tested that many messenger bags unfortunately. The one sided load is really a negative for me as I usually carry lots of gear. I actually only tested the alpaka.

Bo Ismono Hey Bo! I'm just using some generic Amazon bags, one for wet and disposable items, the other for dry and electric bits. I either need to find something large enough for both or find a way to trim down what I carry...
+Cory Hernandez I see. I found that using reusable bottles for shower gels etc. Helps me a lot to trim down my dopp kit. Did you see my dopp kit video in the last "Traveling with Bo"?

x pak pro arrived today(am). It’s solid but a bit busy. They have used every possible “cavity” for pockets, some seem too small. Think a user will have to figure out how they want to use it. I got the handle and compression strap as well, no use for the compression but didn’t want to get it at a later time if I needed it, although I’m sure a person can fashion their own
Great line up Bo, can't wait :) I missed out on the sling pack when it was on kickstarter (x pack 1 was it?) so I'm especially keen to hear your opinion on that! Have a happy new year!!

The bag's price itself is justified Imho, but with shipping and more importantly custom fees the price is just to high. If I ever am on vacation in the US, I will buy one and just bring it back.

Please review pacsafe, I would like to know what you think of pacsafe's safety features. If you buy a Pacsafe definitely spend some more money and get the 360 degree mesh version. THose should provide good protection. But just the slashguard mesh is definitely not a good protection IMHO

Bo Ismono That’s cool! I have seen the duffel pack2 and it looks huge for daily use. And was thinking as a comparison against other travel bags such as North Face.
+Vero Ng it is actually pretty tall. But it's shape doesn't look too out of place on me (and I am not that tall). It pretty narrow compared to other backpacks.

Thanks for the preview. Looks like there’s going to be many new bag brands coming in 2018. As a bag reviewer who has seen loads of bags :
1) what do you think of all these new brands and makers who have been putting out all these new bags? A bit too many or the more the better?
2) Do you think each one of them has something unique or interesting to offer? If not, when a brand is purely producing something already done countless times before eg, another roll top bag, clam shell or anti-theft feature, etc....is that still worth producing?
With so much excess in the world is today, and yet we are constantly being overloaded with more and more new stuff, sometimes with not much value added. I just wondered what is your take on this.

THose are some very interesting questions. And I totally agree with you in terms of consumerism and the world getting overloaded with too much stuff. Which is basically why I recommend to go with the good quality stuff, pay a little more, but keep it for a very long time.
To answer your questions (as good as I can):
1) It's crazy and incredible to see so many new bag companies developing new bags. Just in the last year I have seen so many kickstarters and I really have lots of respect for those who create new stuff and companies, because they thought they weren't able to find what they are looking for. so "product a or b doesn't fit my needs, therefore I just make something that fits my needs" And that's basically what it comes down to: We all have different needs and different tastes, which is great. Therefore it is good to see so many different options.
2) but on the other hand we see many overlapping designs and features. One good example are these antitheft backpacks. I feel like they all look basically the same. and there are bags that are just a rehash of an existing design, but there are many great bags with their own DNA. Blackember is a great exapmle of some refreshing design. O'm not sure if they are the only ones with that style (I have seen many bags, but definitely not all of them 😉 ) but to me they stand out pretty good.
In a world in which we produce so much and throw away so much, of course you start to question if it is good that so many things copied and so much waste is generated. But bags are just a small niche and probably easier to recycle than most of the electronic items (I don't think that we all should change our phones every year for instance).

Some I buy, some I get supplied. But even if the bag is free, I usually have to pay custom fees. Therefore the bags are never 100% free. In addition to that I still have production costs of all the videos. So I invest money in each video, therefore I will never be biased or affiliated to any company for a review. Pelican makes a line of backpack, they also sell a harness kit to so you can carry your case like a backpack.
IF and I do mean IF I ever need to check or put my camera gear in a cargo hold then I use a hard case, but my camera gear never leaves my sight when I'm out working or just out and about.

+Donald Kline agreed. If you have to check in gear, then pelican keeps everything safe. But on the other hand check in stuff sometimes gets "lost" and a pelican case might be the first thing to get "lost" in the cargo bay 😢
LOL I don't let any or try not to let any of my camera gear, save my tripod go into checked luggage.
If I have to go on one of those restricted carryon weight limit flight says those with a 7kg to 14kg I'll just bring my mirrorless and one other lens, I prefer to shoot with my DSLR but I'm comfortable with just using my smaller camera and iPhone. I have even done articles using just my phone to take the photos and write the content.
I like to be able to get work done if anything should malfunction or I go to a venue/event where "professional equipment" is not allowed my Sony slips right under the radar.

most pistol pockets are hook and loop field(velcro) which accomodates a holster
+kidbach I see. That makes sense. I have never seen a pistol holster in person. I wasn't aware that there is velcro on them. But I will take a look at the pelican and will let you know. But as far as I can tell it is more geared towards the camera people.
