How long did the weight loss take? 1 year.
    How tall are you? 5'7.
    How much weight did you lose? I started at 245lbs and ended at 175lbs. (245 - 175 = 70lbs)
What songs are in the video?
First Song - Malmo Sunrise by The 126ers (from the CZcams audio library)
Second Song - Hero Theme by MK2 (from the CZcams audio library)
    The Spring Break Trip:
Roughly one year ago, I was invited to a spring break trip to Panama City Beach, FL. I had a great time... BUT... I felt held back... I really started to see just how bad my lack of confidence was; I wanted to take my shirt off and enjoy the sun, but I really didn't want people to see how I looked. Coincidentally, during the trip, I found this article by /u/zbyhnev/ which outlined the difference between motivation and discipline.
"This is one of these situations where adopting a different perspective immediately results in superior outcomes."
It really was. Immediately when I got back, I told myself that I was going to lose weight and get ripped for my next spring break trip. I didn’t care what it took. I wanted it so I was going to have it.
I knew the basic idea behind losing weight was to eat less than you could consume, so I went off of that idea. I looked up a weight loss calculator on google and stumbled upon this one. I plugged in my stats to lose two pounds a week and got my caloric target: 1880.
In the beginning, I really didn’t workout or anything, I just tracked my calories. At some point I started using myfitnesspal to track my calories but I did it on paper to start off. I ate what I was used to eating, just less. I lost a decent bit of fat just by doing that and I felt great because I was gaining solid momentum. At a certain point, I made a bet on a site called healthywage which pays you to lose weight. I knew confidently that I was going to follow through so it was a no-brainer. Needless to say, I doubled my money.
While losing weight, I did lots of research and learned a lot. I read a lot of articles and watched a lot of fitness CZcamsrs. I think it's important to be a sponge for information. Learning while going through the process was crucial in getting the results I attained. I was learning about re-feed days, strict body-building diets, supplementing creatine, advanced calorie counting techniques and weighing food on a scale before I did any of those things. A couple of months into my journey, I finally joined the gym.
These are the only rules I really followed when entering the gym:
    1. Get around 5 reps on most compound exercises
    2. Focus only on the particular body parts for the given day. (Chest+Triceps, Back+Biceps, Legs+Shoulders)
    3. Focus most of my effort on compound exercises
I got addicted to going to the gym. I loved feeling the pump where my muscles would fill with blood, feel tight and look huge. Since I was cutting for a while though, I gained very little strength which was slightly discouraging. However, there was a point in time where I started to supplement with creatine (5g daily) and felt like a gym god in about 2-3 weeks. My deadlift went from 275 to 315 and I remember being so happy when I finally pulled 3 plates.
As I kept reading and watching CZcams videos, I learned better ways to eat and prepare food. First of all, I only drank water, plain tea or black coffee (drinking only water/coffee/tea was never a problem for me but I know it is for others so I thought I'd mention it). I learned techniques for preparing my meals ahead of time and routinely eating those (r/mealprepsunday). I planned the meals to be anywhere from 500-700 calories. They tended to consist of a lean meat, a filling carbohydrate and steamed vegetables. I also ate plain oatmeal for breakfast with some chopped up fruit and/or peanutbutter and cinnamon. I also drank fruit smoothies and prepared overnight oats. By now, I had purchased a food scale and a body fat caliper to chart changes in my body fat percentage and measure my calories with greater precision. I started eating very clean. I stuck with my diet 99% of the time.

I am 190 I always been 145 my whole life at one point lower than that I've gained over 50 lbs in the last 4 years and now that I am engaged I am wanting more to be healthy again. czcams.com/users/postUgkx5VQ5nUzHu6i0O5_u7ipyLnCz0lbsSvr0 I am not fat but I am thick and have muscle. I am very close to how you were but a lil smaller but I am so sick people making comments to me like I'm huge or like you said having shorts that used to be so cute on me and now I can't even find a pair to fit me. I used to love shopping now I don't even want to go to the store and if I do I pick the biggest size don't even try it on and deal with it. I went from size 5 to size idk because I don't even want to know the real number. I hate looking at pics of myself now or me before. thank you for your video it's time to make a change.

*I Weighed 310 at my highest and 190 and my lowest (lost 120lbs! within 6 months) I had saggy bingo arms tho they werent even bad, **weightlose.fitness** i just lacked muscle and didnt work out. and could easily be toned by working out, which i have been doing and ive seen great results quick. I do have a lil extra pudge on my stomach and plenty of stretchmarks which have faded. Strength training is the best way to go for faster results, better results, and you'll love going to the gym more than if you were to do cardio alone. Do not worry about sagging skin - deal with it when you get there because you'll be way happier at your goal weight with some extra skin compared to where you begin!*

It's not really just that though is it? For example, I actually love going to the gym, when I was smaller years ago it was one of my favourite things to do, but after I got large (I have PCOS and stopped taking medications after I got depression) I was bullied so much and have been sneered at in the street so much that I am genuinely terrified to go back. I have so much anxiety about public places due to my weight but that's also stopping me from helping myself. I know logically that I am being an idiot. But when my anxiety kicks in I just back out and change my mind because it's genuinely a horrible experience.
This is why fat shaming is so terrible. People like to think they are in some twisted way helping someone, but actually for a lot of people (including myself) it's totally causing us to stay indoors full of shame and self loathing.

I train at home cause gyms are closed in my town. The workout plan I'm following is from Dietarize, and meal plan also. I lost 7lbs in 3 weeks (mostly fat). Dude, that's super inspirational!! I'm cutting right now and I found that these things definitely are helping:
*1. Refeeds* (At the end of the week, I calculate this: Calories lost during the week x days of a calorie deficit
*2. Taking immune system pills and vitamins* I used to get sick a lot while cutting, which makes sense because your body has less resources to fight off sicknesses. Now I take a fair amount of Vitamin C and the others (Emphasizing Vitamin C) and other foods that boost the immune system.
*3. DO NOT SWITCH TO HIGH REPS, LOW WEIGHT* The only time you should do high reps and low weight is if that is the method you used to build muscle. But if you used heavy weight and low reps to build muscle, why on Earth would you change what was working just because you are cutting?
*4. Increase Protein* This is a given, but even though there are studies showing that it only takes .8g of protein per lb. of body weight to build muscle does not mean that you need that little while recomping. Bump up your protein intake to 1g per lb at least while cutting.
*5. You don't need cardio to lose fat* Most people who try to lose fat just hop on the treadmill and try to maintain that two times a day, every single day. Eventually, they burn out and quit. GUYS. Make a reasonable schedule for cardio.
The most important thing to remember while cutting: *If you are not in a calorie deficit, you will NOT lose fat.* End of story. I don't care what crazy intermittent fasting or Keto Diet you are on, if that goal is not being met, you will not lose fat.
    Best of luck bros,
    *Minewire Fitness*

Bro ive lost 10 kg (22 pounds) in about 2 and a half months, let me advise you on something. Dont just jump straight into a diet bro, that was my biggest mistake over the years. If you jump straight into a diet, in about a day or 2 you will eat like shit again because youve shocked your body and havent allowed it time to actually process the fact you want to lose weight, this is because our bodies are resistant to change.
You need to take babysteps- start off by cutting out soda for a week and at the same time start drinking about 2-4 litres of water a day, one of the reasons you are obese is because of water retention (more water will flush out water retention). If you take it slow at first, you will have more willpower, give your body time to adapt before embarking on weight loss and your body will be less resistant to the diet. Try intermittent fasting, it one of the most effective methods of losing weight, its basically what humans had to do in the beginning of time. Good luck

Try taking your asthma pump before doing exercise. Was something that helped me.

Jason Tiver Not to knock on your progress but why do overweight people suddenly slash their calories drastically? I see this everywhere, a heavy man/woman watches some inspirational video or has an epiphany and just slashes their calories by half or more immediately.. the allure of instant gratification i guess.. i mean it would make sense to decrease by say 500 cals but i guess people think less is more

    • @slow-moe3518
      @slow-moe3518 Před 6 lety +47

When you're overweight, you need to see results fast. Otherwise you might lose motivation and go back to eating what you usually do. It's all in the head but that's how it goes "I've been dieting for a week and have lost only one lbs. That's not worth it."

    • @nanaki3185
      @nanaki3185 Před 6 lety +6

At a certain point that makes sense, however when your sedentary TDEE numbers are 3500... You really don't need to eat that much, it is just overkill. 2900 to 1200 is a insanely large jump though I must admit.

I'm almost 17 and I June I was peaking at 215 lbs and I knew the path I was taking was not going to be good, so I decided to tell myself I'm going to workout everyday and train. Fast forward all the way to November now I'm at 180 lbs and I'm almost all cut up and shredded. The only thing i did was 2-4 miles of running everyday and just all bodyweight and calisthenic stuff. You guys don't need a stupid gym membership and the only thing I started off doing is push-ups, situps, dips, and different ab workout routines. I hope this inspires someone to get in the shape and get the body they want becuz i was on this guy's route in the beginning. I'll keep this updated in 6 months to tell u my progress as I'm going to start doing more calisthenics stuff and body building but I'm going to be all natural and not take and supplements and cheat.

I can attest to this my man. I used to always go to the gym... Rarely did cardio, but my strength was what I cared about most. From the age of 19 to about 24, I was an on again off again gym goer. My diet never really changed. It was poor. Gym memberships cost an outrageous amount. I started to just workout at home. Body weight exercises, various ab workouts and some cardio workouts, but a lot of walking at a fast pace with some jogging incorporated into that routine. My diet cleaned up drastically, and I can proudly say I'm finally on the path to having a great looking bod, without the assistance of a gym.

Now I've learned from my mistakes and continue to learn about my body and the many ways I can improve myself. Watching this now, I understand what this guy was doing and how he achieved his goal. First off diet is the number one key to focus on when wanting to burn fat. You have to eat in a caloric deficit below your maintenance calories. As for working out, compound functional movements using heavy weight to train for strength and growth coupled with a light Cardio afterward and a day for HIIT training is definitely the way to go.

I really like how honest this video is. Currently, weigh ~236lbs and my goal is to get to 175 at most. This video along with other vids inspired me to start going to the gym again and be more disciplined with my diet and consistency. You did good!

Hey, Every single day i came home from school got a bag of chips and was drinking alot of cola and was always thinking of excuses to not go to fitness. from the day i watched these videos i quitted doing that and started to go every week 3 days to go to fitness and started doing HIIT. I started 2 october with doing this. And i see and feel already a diffrence, i feel fit. Last time my friend was ordering fast food at night and i really wanted aswell but i said no to myself and my friend. Im happy that i did because all my motivation will just go away. Still working hard to lose fat. Im proud of myself!

Can’t speak for this awesome fellow, but my recommendation would depend on a few factors like your height and the kind of exercise you’re doing currently/how often! If you share those, I can give you a suggestion for pushing more!
