That was the truck my stepdad had when I met him. I was 12, it was 1976 and I learned to drive in that truck. To this day, its my favorite year of the chevy truck.

...this is a beautiful "Why I Drive" and to this day I drive my dads 73 C-10...he passed in 88 but his spirit is in this truck, he talks to me when I'm driving...I drive it daily 💗...thanks for sharing Kacy!
Kacy is a perfect example of why people should support McPherson College. It's all kids who are the ones we older people pray will keep car culture alive.
What a beauty! My dad had 2 straight six versions, a 1970 C10 and a 72 straight six c10 custom fleetside. They were both incredibly comfortabe on lng gravel and dirt roads in Zuuland South Africa. I love them!

That's a beauty....You are right, what good are they if you can't/don't drive them.... I remember my uncles 72 stepside, same green color....He recently had it renovated, can't wait to see that truck again....
My Dad's first "new" pickup was just like this but in a C-20...loved that truck. Now my son is trying to find the same year in a C 10 to restore like yours.!

'72 C-20 Longbed with a 350, Edelbrock 650, TH400, headers, Pypes, and turquoise latex paint applied with a roller. Loud, fun, and gets smiles and "thumbs up"! I'm sure you do too!
Awesome truck. I have the same truck but mine is a Cheyenne. I agree with her on every level. I enjoy going on for a causal drive. I’ve owned always owned a truck and will always own a truck. They are indispensable.
Beautiful truck, I have a 72 year custom deluxe, Since it left from Missouri, it went to Kansas City, then crossed the Atlantic to reach Norway, then I bought it and brought it to live on the coast of Barcelona in Spain, where It has its residence, it is a great attraction when you travel on the Catalan roads.
Beautiful truck! I believe ‘72 was the last year for the trailing arm and coil spring rear suspension that many NASCAR cars were based off of. 👍🏻

Growing up, my parents bought a 1968 Chevrolet C-10 CST. They put a Six-Pak camper on it, which was used to travel from California to Ohio every year and as a daily driver for my father. Equipped with a 307 and turbo-hydromatic transmission. I would love to find one. Ours had almost 200,000 miles when sold in the early 80's

I’ve got at 71. Gotbit as my first truck about 4 years ago and it’s gone under a lot of work. I didn’t have plans to “restore” it so it’s got a 470 horse small block in it. 4L80e trans. Bucket seats from an 06 2500hd. Completely custom interior and dash. I’ve spent probably 4x more money on all that than I bought it for. But dang is it a great truck.
Still using my'65 F250,it's got a 240ci six cylinder mated to a four speed,granny gear transmission,original paint and interior and is a good work truck,pure and simple

Kacy, I love your truck, it's original and simple, and very nice. I have a 1972 Chevy C10, it is original from Missouri but I have it on the coast of Barcelona in Spain and I have it very original too.

Heck ya C-10 my dad had a 1970 we grew up in that truck good times I have a 70 short bed my brother 72 shorty as well just a nice ride
I was working as a delivery driver for an auto parts store back in the mid-70s. I drove my 1964 Pontiac GTO convertible to work nearly every day. We had several early 70s Chevy pickups. Mine was a green 1970 (radio call sign seven-zero), but nowhere near as nice as Kacy's. I was taking a couple years off of college, and I learned a ton hanging around the machine shops and body shops. Those were sweet, sweet times working with some real characters. We were young, healthy, with no worries. Happy days!
That WAS why I drove!
Early 70s work in a auto machine shop high school work study program. I did all the shops valve jobs.. back then for a set of v8 heads labor was $35.00 parts valve seats and guides were extra and resurfacing the heads. But not valve job we checked all of those parts and for cracks in the head. I loved it too hanging around the older car guys listening to their stories and learning as much as i could speical times . Back in 73 my last year of high school i was driving a 67 GTX 440 4-speed and waiting in them long gas lines trying to keep gas in it. I ran Shell 260 high octane.
@@busman5429 A friend of mine had a GTX and my brother had a 'Cuda. But most of my friends were were Chevy guys. Some of still have their high school cars. One in particular - a restored 57 Nomad.
I had a 1972 C-10 Delux with a 307. My Dad gave it to me in 1982 when I got my license. It was beat up from farm work so it needed some love. Like an idiot I wanted a Camaro and got rid of it. I wish I could go back and change my mind. It was forest green like yours but had a lime green roof. Great truck. Enjoy yours.

I'm just now learning to drive but when I was in middle school I bought a 1978 gmc jimmy for $500 and my dad and I have been fixing it up for when I have my license
I have a 1969 C10 shortbed stepside with a 250 inline 6, with a column shift 4speed of Muncie, down the road at 70 all day long, talk about a sweet long distance runner!! I love the old pickem up truck.
Great truck Kacy, many of the V8 auto trucks came with 3.08 gears in '71 and '72.keep your eye out for an budget friendly swap if your truck has the lower 3.73's
Many people would swap their 3.08's for their LS overdrive builds if you have the 3.73's

We had a 1977 chevy beauville van and I miss the blessed thing, and ive been wanting since, I like everything about it, even the steering wheel is a fun steering wheel, but a automatic is a must with me on a vehicle
I had a full size 1986 Silverado Blazer, was the most fun I ever had driving a vehicle. I sold it 21 years ago and still think about it.

Old Truck Tip told to me by an old mechanic; They say the life of the engine depends on your oil changes, and the worst thing for a vehicle is not to driving it. Read up from the Seafoam Website about adding the seafoam injector cleaner to your gasoline tank and to your oil crankcase (one ounce per quart capacity of the crankcase prior to an oil change), then drive the truck for 35 to 50 miles before changing your oil. After the oil change again add one ounce of seafoam per quart of oil. your older vehicle will run smoother and much more quiet. I have 173,000 miles on my 02 Ford Truck, and I follow this method as per Seafoam Website. My 4.0L OHC Engine performs like the day I bought it new. I do the periodic engine tune up according to checklist frequency along with the coolant change and etc. I use this stuff too in all my lawn tractors, mowers, and snow blowers. I use it in the gasoline tanks and in with the crankcase oil. When a mower idles rough, I add a splash to the fuel tank and a tad to the oil, and it begins to run smooth before the lawn cut is finished.
Finding a dream vehicle is about like a diamond in the rough. But it can also be about healing old wounds and reviving friendships. Sometimes we're not able to enjoy certain vehicles of the past. The reason for being a collector.
Keep on driving! What a lovely truck. I had a 72 C20, which I spent a lot of time and money on, making it mechanically near-perfect. By far the best vehicle I ever owned. Foolishly I sold it (way too cheap) because it developed another, relatively minor mechanical problem. A big mistake on my part ... keep yours running, it's a great vehicle indeed.

My truck story is; I bought a K2500 (GMT400) new in 1989.. I still have it... and still drive it. Still looks new. It's kinda ridiculous... but I feel GM stopped making trucks after the GMT400, so I never had any interest in anything newer sitting in my Big Red. God what an awesome truck.

I had just gotten out of the army after 3 years and two deployments. I went to work for a Chevy dealershop in south Texas. I was given to the truck sales department. I sold 23 of these my first month...WOW this thing was hotter than pancakes to sell! I didn't stay with the dealership because of how they split the money but that was fun! The sold itself...
Got a 72’ as well. We have several vehicles and it’s still my favorite to drive.

Old iron is the best I have to a 69 C10 short bed Stepside and a 71 K10 GMC long bed
Had the same exact truck to the t longbed 350/350 recently had to let it go saved the drivetrain tho.. she was too rusty i will get another one someday i loved that truck tough old things
My first truck was an Ocre 72 C10 with a 327/350 at 19. My second truck was a medium green 71 C10 that I swapped a 454/400 into at 22. I've owned at least 10 other trucks but those were my favorites.
Nice truck! My first outfit was a 1972 Chevy Suburban 4x4 standard transmission that was forest green and seated 9. It had the 350 V8 and nonslip differential. Fond memories.
Hell yeah this is awesome. There is so much more character in a classic. I like NOT having the comforts of my living room in my vehicle so I can feel the car and the drive.

We in Iraq love old US cars, their repair is easy, and the iron is rustless. A while ago a truck found this model but the engine was replaced by the Kia Bingo 2700

It's a lot about the experience of these old vehicles my 68 Fairlane has no power steering or power brakes you muscle it through the curves on the back roads always leaving extra distance for stopping it's actually a little bit of a workout but so much fun⚙🔩🔧⛽🇺🇸
