Episode 44:
• DragonBall Z Abridged:... - Zábava
Oh my god I just realized…. Cell is the ultimate culmination of “pretty one”, “stupid one”, and “one with weird powers”
You aren’t wrong.
Wow. You right!
Holy shit
You should be a scientist
i dont think hes the same kind of stupid as the movie henchmen though
I AM THE HYPE!
I AM THE GOKU YOSHI!
VEGETA'S ALWAYS THE HYPE
He really believes his own hype THAT MUCH
“do you.. live in your own little world?!”
Damn he’s fast!!
You do realize that this means that in your canon, Android 18's full legal name ends up being "Lazuli Sanchez."
Assuming she took krillen's last name. Honestly 50/50 given her personality.
@@shawnjavery"On one hand, f*ck my parents. On the other, societal standards are bullsh*t. On the other, f*ck my parents. On the other...."
"Oops, 18 needs a reboot"
@@shawnjavery Well she hated her parents, so I'd say that's tipping the odds in Sanchez's favor
@@destructiondragon360 Lazuli Sanchez, sounds kinda nice ngl
When was this?
Fun Fact: There's a reason why Taka voices the battleball player in this episode. Dameon Clarke, who voices cell, also voices the battleball player in the Z dub, so it's a subtle homage to the anime
Sounds more like a coincidence
He also plays Handsome Jack.
@@MountainMemelord No, no, Goku, choking is something you do when you eat too fast. As I'm crushing Gohan's windpipe , what I'm doing is actually referred to as strangling.
Krillin is officially the first person to have killed Cell

And was, occasionally, unreasonably horny
Goddamn that's so on point, it's insanity.
"The future is no fun."
"It's really not."
Might be my favorite DBZA Trunks line, bar none 😂😂
Trunks is us current day
"Neither of you are going to fight those crazy robots." I mean, she was TECHNICALLY right.

In all fairness- I might like to see them make something original. If they have a problem generating original footage, maybe do something like what Saban did with Power Rangers. Just need to find someone to partner with.
Give them an actual series to professionally dub!!!
I love the scene with Trunks and Krillin making laser noises because on some level it demonstrates just how effed up Trunk's childhood was that Krillin's level of general whimsy feels both utterly foreign and desperately inviting to him.
You put it perfectly into words and it's made me upset at the accuracy. 😢
Well said
It's one of the best jokes to me 😂
🥺
i was looking for that comment,
its just so cute when he starts doing it too. Trunk is still a kid
You can see Taka and Kaiser get visibly uncomfortable during the end scene while Lani is just vibing with the music
"How are you so chill about this? I voiced that guy and I'm creeped out!"
- Taka, probably.
Thanks for the love guys, thanks for the hate too! ❤
I see and appreciate you, Taka
You’re awesome man! And your Cell is the best Cell!!

Love your content Taka
No one could hate you dude, you are PERFECT.
Not even “in one ear and out the other” just “in one ear, get bored and die.” That was a great read from MasakoX
The "where the fuck am i?" Gag is probably my most favorite gag of the entire show. Right next to freeza's "give me some ideas" bit
"You ever watch Hellsing Abridged? He did all the sound for that!" A legitimate flex. The sound editing in HA is phenomenal.
I hope someday HUA gets the same treatment DBZA is getting here

Krillin and Trunks scene really brought Krillin's character to my favorite version in this series "Just Krillin. Everyone's Friend."
Same with Yamcha by the end of it. Tien admitting he considers Yamcha his best friend, Cell defending and feeling bad about eventually having to kill Yamcha. And even Vegeta giving him respect when Yamcha stands up to him and insults him back with "How's your spine?" After Cell broke Vegetas back.

@@toxicdemon1315 It's more than he'd give pretty much anyone else.
"You, Namekian, Too Strong, Explain NOW!"
This is such an underrated line from Vegeta, because it's overshadowed by "I AM THE HYPE!", and rightfully so

My favorite parts about these is Kaiser being self-conscious about his editing or voice acting and everyone's immediately like "NO YOU DID GOOD STOP IT"

They just straight up broke him 😂😂😂
The cherry on top of that soft serve is Kaiser recovering by saying "I came" in chorus with Lani.

Honestly Imperfect cell was simultaneously funnier and creepier than either of his other forms. I wish he had even more screentime.
Trunks joining in on the "pew pewww" sounds with Krillin is one of my favorites.
Poor Trunks has had a pretty rough childhood (what with all the dying and such). I'm glad he can just relax and have a little innocent fun with a friend. Perhaps that kind of bonding is what he was craving from the opportunity to meet Vegeta. I also really like Krillin's line at the end as they're flying in silence "we should hang out more." This is the closest thing to a normal friendship he has ever had save maybe Gohan, but his relationship with Future Gohan was (ironically) more like Gohan's relationship with Piccolo, the tough love of a harsh, demanding drill sergeant during wartime. Krillin is not the strongest warrior or the hero of the story, and he knows it, has accepted it, and is just doing his best to enjoy life. His relationship with Trunks has nothing to do with fighting, training, or power. Its cute
@Dewani90yea he was 16 but imagine how fun that must have been for him since all his life he's had to survive. And didn't have any friends to play with.
You can imagine these people having lived peacefully for over a hundred years before Goku shows up and says, "I can change all that."
I mean technically the Red Ribbon army was trying to do what Germany couldn't, sooooo...
@@GeorgeCowsert LOL
Honestly it's all Bulma's fault.
Pilaf would have wished to conquer the world if Goku hadn't put Oolong on the scene to stop him.
Red Ribbon Army would actually probably not grown or decreased in power due to the Dragon Balls, since General Red wanted to wish to be taller.
Piccolo Daimao would have been completely unopposed since Kami refused to do anything about him, but he also likely wouldn't have been released if Pilaf already conquered the world since Pilaf wouldn't have sought him out for power.
Everything in Z on though, yeah, those were all directly linked to Goku.
@@coreylemonAll because Oolong wished for the most comfortable pair of underwear. *Bulma's!*
I just love the sign joke because of how ridiculous it gets. "East City Westmen." Always has me in stitches.
Imperfect Cell was too hungry for that joke.
My head canon is that the reason the battleball teams names are so weird is that they got moved around like real American sports teams (ex. the Utah Jazz).
Me: That make sense.
Someone Else: You ruined it. You ruined it, and I'm leaving.
Hoo ha! Gets me
I may be drunk right now, but Gohan with the "go in one ear get bored and die" fucking killed me. It had me cackling like Roshi
The TJ and the Wombat scene is genuinely one of the most disturbing things I've ever watched and it's brilliant.
It made me realize just how amazing you all are at writing and creating. Not just doing shit posts about an anime
16:57 From a character standpoint, Vegeta's anger and insecurity makes a lot of sense. He finally achieves the Saiyan form of legend only for it to not measure up after only one definitive win at this point.
Always thought Vegeta’s SSJ debut was an interesting contrast to Goku’s. Obviously it’s origins from Vegeta gaining it from prideful rage rather than intense sorrow or a pure heart, but more so in what he does. Goku debuts SSJ saving Namek, his friends and the Galaxy, all the while risking his life on an exploding planet. Vegeta, on the other hand, simply uses SSJ as a flex, waiting for the most opportune moment to make himself look brave by dismantling an enemy that’s far beneath him.
@@DonWeaselYeehawEdition True, Goku was not deliberately trying to achieve this form, he did by accident if anything, at his lowest moment, when all hope was lost, to save the day. Before Vegeta even had proof it was real (and not just a myth) he strived to realize the legend, when Goku did it, his determination was elevated, he started training in a way he never had before, mimicking Goku's training routine, utilizing the gravity chamber of the spaceship to push himself further. He transformed when there was no villain, no threat, no battle for the universe, in the manga its not even shown, in the anime, it happens when Vegeta is exploring space, with no living being for miles, nobody to witness the event. He then waits until the perfect moment to show off his new powers in order to surprise his former enemies turned allies, sadistically bully their new mutual enemies, and stroke his own ego.

"I love putting that visual in people's heads" - Scott, seconds before Nick and Curt return the favour
13:35 Lani and Taka just created a scene without even realizing.
I... I think imperfect Cell was the best form. It's where he was most of his own character.
Semiperfect was pretty much skipped because the editor rushed Toriyama and perfect was basically just "I'm perfect now, don't know what to do so I may as well start a tournament"
Still love him but imperfect was the most interesting and disturbing
I mean, I don't think Semi-Perfect Cell really had much going for him to really stick around, regardless of the editor issues, since he was only ever presented to be a threat to people that were already weaker than him, immediately overpowered by the same people who would've overpowered him if he were Imperfect at that same point, and would've only focused on getting whichever of the twin siblings he didn't absorb the first time around if they got away. If anything, it makes him a shittier version of Imperfect Cell, and about the same relevance as Frieza's Third Form was on Namek.
@@tonyxenosThat said, Semi-Perfect was still able to use his intelligence to make up for the fact that he was wholly outclassed. Which is so much more interesting than Perfect Cell who basically just threw a tournament and called it a day
I think Cell had a similar problem to Vegeta going from the Namek arc to the Androids. They both showed they could be really clever, sneaky and crafty when they couldn't brute force everything. The more powerful they got, the less clever they had to be. Not to say they didn't use that intelligence in their fights but I feel like we got to see less of it in general.
i like perfect cell because they show much more of the "i have everybody's DNA" side of cell. and you see, especially in the videogames and this version of the character, cell is MUCH more willing to directly roast people. which is nice when he's a successor to mr. "i dont remember anybody's name unless its nappa" and mr. "call everybody by their species names because im so far above them".
compared to the two, its neat how perfect cell follows that by being the guy who knows the cast's internet search history, and WILL roast them in front of their homies for it.
The “where the fuck am I?” Joke is probably one of the most clever jokes you guys have done
Kaiser and Lani didn’t react aptly enough to that bugs bunny joke lmao imagining Cell smooching Trunks is absolutely hilarious
The Video Killed the Radio Star bit has ALWAYS been a big highlight for me, one of my fave scenes
I think the scariest scene is the one with the couple eating breakfast. In order for both sets of clothes to have stayed in the chairs, Cell would have had to held one of them down because why wouldn't that person not run when when their partner was getting eaten? And then, after watching their loved one get eaten alive, they get stabbed and know exactly what's going to happen next. That second person gets the worst death of the two imo.
That was always my issue with all the clothes being in one spot. Like the way they're so stationary and looked like everyone just stood in place was goofy. It wasn't until I was older when I began to think about alternatives. Like your idea of Cell holding someone else down, forcing them to watch.
I like the idea that he'd break legs and backs to prevent people from running away, so not only would people be writhing in pain, but they'd be doing so while watching Cell absorb the others around them one by one.
Not only that, but entire cities.. so children weren't spared this very fate either. Cell truly is a monster.
@@CasualVideoGamer Great point on him crippling his victims first!
@@hyperbeast0150 I wonder if this is what TFS thought of and just kept it subtle. They kept using the term "predator" to describe Cell (which is true) which just makes me think that's what he did - as predators often do, cripple then kill.
@@CasualVideoGamer They reference it when Cell just appears, he vomits a Pacifier in front o Piccolo.
@@Golecom2 oh no no, I meant the idea of him crippling people to prevent them from fleeing. I remember they referenced the idea of him going after children and such.
On the whole "is Perfect Cell the worst Cell or not" topic, I will say that his adaptations in other forms of media give him a lot more personality, charm and wit than his original appearance in the manga. Largely due to the great voice actors, but the writing is also just funner - he has some hilarious lines in both FighterZ and Xenoverse (“I would totally hug you if that was something I did!"), for example. Not to mention Abridged Cell.
I personally find his first humanoid form the most terrifying and intimidating. As he got his perfect form he was so human at that point the only thing making him "scary" is how powerful he was. And that's not all that scary a thing.
His english VA was able to bring SO MUCH smarm to him in FighterZ, he just fucking chews the scenery, it’s amazing
I'm fairly convinced that a lot of Perfect Cell's personality in other media is inspired by the TFS interpretation.
"No, no, no. You're in luck, it just so happens that finding birds is one of my specialties. This'll be fun." -Xenoverse 2 Cell
Damian Clark brings so much personality to Cell it's fantastic.

I loved the ending of this episode cause it’s both hilarious and just terrifying. The cognitive dissonance of video killed the radio star and cell consuming the radio hosts despite their screams is amazing.
Scott you've pointed out so many edits I never realized were there. Whether that be the context of the show itself, or edits from the show. You've added things that fit into the world perfectly, you've fixed animation errors. You are a pioneer of editing an abridged series and your improvement's been fantastic to hear about. You've done some edits that *you almost forgot about on this rewatch.* That's gotta be an achievement by editing standards
The Nicky Town scene might be your best scene ever. It takes some incredible skill to write, perform, and direct something that terrifying but also a little funny. There is an artistic vision to that scene. Every time I hear Video Killed the Radio Star, I think of it.
Did anyone else taka’s innocent people talk really heartwarming?

I just love that even after all these years the 3 still have so much chemistry
The creepiness factor at the end of this episode was the second major time when it *hit* me how exponentially better you guys had been getting throughout the entire series.
The first time when I activelly noticed it, was back in episode 15 I think, this was the second: usually the increase in quality was 'sneaking up' on me. You know when you see a kid everyday, and in the everyday you are not noticing consciusly how the are growing, but from time to time it *hits* you and you go like "Wow!"?
Yeah, episode 15 and episode 44, especially this ending.
"Soft serve ice cream machine" creates a VERY different picture with "I'm coming, I'm coming, I came...heh"
Honestly that scene with Roshi brought back an old memory of mine when I played TTT in Gary's Mod and I was a Traitor. Looking for anybody on the map but couldn't find anyone so I open Text Chat asking where everybody went. They were all in the scanning room determining who was innocent and who wasn't, so I rushed there getting a S. Bomb on the way while in chat I was typing "I'm Coming, I'm Coming" and when I came into the room it exploded taking out everyone and winning me the game where I immediately type out "I Came!" afterword.
Wow after seeing the glasses reflection edit, anyone who doesn't believe DBZA is transformative and fair use is lying to themselves. You guys didn't deserve any of the copyright troubles you had to endure. Kaiser's dedication as an editor is frankly inspiring.
Perfect cell: pretty one
Semi-perfect: big tough stupid one
Imperfect: one with weird powers
