Even if Subaru buys an off the shelf DCT (from say Getrag), it would still cost a lot of money to develop the right installation (with a front diff and transfer case) for the Subaru AWD system... Costs that I guess the gearbox supplier would want Subaru to cover. Whereas Subaru are, of course, trying to design and build this model on the cheap. 🙂

I own this model in Japan. The name in Japan is Levorg STI Sport R EX. The previous model 2.0L turbo engine has more top-end power, but the 2.4L turbo engine has better response in the daily speed range.
The electronically controlled dampers run very smoothly when set to Comfort, and you can enjoy the handling when set to Sport+.
EyeSight is completely hands-free at 50km/h or less on expressways, and even at higher speeds, automatically turn curves simply by touching the steering wheel.

Also, when you keep your foot on the pedal in one position, the car still slowly accelerates/ doesn't keep the actual speed. Ahhh. Just an uncomfortable annoying car in general. Kudos to the engine and AWD... perhaps the only two positive things about the whole car. Oh and the AC - if set to blow on the windshield, somehow it never manages to cool down the interior enough... This not being manual was easily Subaru's dumbest move yet, I get it they get a rebate for the safety tech which only comes with cvt but that's a piss poor excuse. States 6.1 to 100 yet it's practically in the 7's which is pathetic for a 2.4 awd turbo. My 05 h6 wagon does 6 seconds to 100 naturally aspirated, this should be quicker by every definition. Subarus are going to be a thing of the past in 10 years, toyota will absorb them and probably only use their awd gear. @@samirfakoua Other cars have launch control for marketing - to write in the brochure they can do a faster 0-100 even if in the reality you never use that launch control because it looks stupid to stay at a red light waiting with the engine revving at 4000rpm...
Racing in the city is not fun. A lot of traffic, pedestrians, traffic lights etc. Maybe you don't exceed 120, but in other countries on a highway pull this will be faster than a lot of cars with better 0-100 on paper (and in reality).
If you want a big family wagon this car is ok. Those with DCTs are crap in city area. And they aren't faster at overtaking.
