    • @Funko777
      @Funko777 Před 27 dny +1

      Totally plausible, I believe the total Russian force was observed as 30-50k, unsure how many of those are actual combatants. If we assume all are combatants (they're absolutely not though) 30-50k isn't even enough to take 1/3 of kharkiv if we base the casualties on what was seen in Bahkmut and during the Ruzzian campaign thus far.
      I think people keep forgetting Ukraine was never intending to sit directly on the border. That's a good way to catch some Z artillery with your face or get easily flanked because your position is super obvious. I could see the Russian conscripts being surprised at this and thinking the UA defenses must just be bad and pushing their luck past the distance their original mission intended. However, they'd be wrong because the Ruzzian government does not care to train them as a professional volunteer force. They will soon realize why that land was so easy to occupy whenever they finally make it to the actual strong points and defensive lines UA fell back too (like smart boys).

    In our news in Austria the main reason stated for the offensive was to take Belgorod out of Ukrainian artillery range and to attempt to create the buffer zone that ensures that. Furthermore yesterday the news came US Secretary of State, stated that the US won't attempt to dissuade Ukraine from using American Missiles against targets within Russia itself, that they don't encourage it but will allow it.

    • @yarugatyger1603
      @yarugatyger1603 Před 27 dny

      Furthermore I agree that Ukrainian news could be more truthful, I've been watching the channel "Reporting from Ukraine" for the past few months for some details I wouldn't get anywhere else and sure I get those there but if I believed everything he said then the situation at the frontline would be butterflies and roses peaceful because they're dealing with everything that's thrown at them with such military superiority that they don't need more men or weapons.
      I doubt that that's the case and I think that falsification of truth doesn't benefit anyone who is trying to solve the issues in this conflict. Yes I believe they're doing what they can to hold Russia at bay and inflict massive casualties, but I'm also aware that they don't have the means to effectively push them back and in channels like these that fact goes unstated.

      This is a different war compared to Vietnam and Afghanistan. Afghanistan was a asymmetric war where a conventional military was against a guerrilla force which is incredibly difficult to defeat with conventional.means as they can hide amongst the populace and receive aid while remaining hidden....and mostly stuck to using IED's because anytime there was a gunfight they got their asses handed to them. Vietnam was a combo of conventional forces in the form of the NVA and asymmetric warfare with the Viet-Cong and the rules of engagements set by Washington ensured the U.S forces were not able to do what they needed to do.
      This is a conventional war that has taken a hard turn towards to attrition warfare. Unfortunately, Russia has an advantage in such a war as they have a massive population to draw from and vast stockpiles left over from the Soviet era and despite the technological superiority of the West, it would have to be the Ukrainians who have to use the equipment and that takes time to train, supply and deploy, time the war will not wait for. It also doesn't help that the West does not have the industry base for a war footing and steps have to be taken to not drag NATO fully into the war because that would just go nuclear pretty damn quick.

    Good to see Ukraine is putting our tax money to good use. I'd recommend they spend some of it to put welcome signs outside of kharkiv it's not like they use it to defend kharkiv to begin with so might as well be polite and decorate the place!

      Still it's very concerning that they gained 8-9 kilometres around the 2 largest Ukrainian city with just recon when it took them months to just gain a foothold around avdivka which is a relatively insignificant city

    Ukraine blames the west for delaying weapons and allowing the russians to have 6 months to prepare defenses which thwarted the ukrainians counteroffensive, ukraine had 2 years to prepare defenses for kharkiv and 8 years to prepare for adviika, so what happened? the dogginess of the russians is what makes them so successful in taking these grounds against heavily fortified ukrainians defenses, ukraine doesn't have that

      It's unfortunate because it was completely preventable. All the opposition leaders had to do was respect the Feb 21st 2014 agreement. Ukraine would of never had a coup, Crimea and the rest of Novorossiya would still be part of Ukraine and Yanukovych would have lost in democratic fashion.
