    This was extremely helpful. I have done a lot of research about working for the feds vs the contractors. To me the one biggest plus about the feds is the pension. Yes the pay may be lower but I’d rather have the security of the pension over higher pay now. But you did bring up a good point that contractors do the heavy lifting. I want to be a pen tester and maybe work on the defense side. During my search I didn’t really see any federal jobs that align with that (although it could simply mean they aren’t open right now). But I may have to explore the contractor side to get the actual role I want. What are some good websites to look for government contracting jobs (I know of clearancejobs but idk if there are other good ones to search for positions)

      Yeah. The pension is a big deal. Not too many companies do that anymore. I know Deloitte offers pensions. Most Pentesting jobs are done by contractors. I guess it makes sense to have an independent, non-biased party conduct a pentest. There's also usajobs.gov

      That can be considered an advantage. If you have a full-time job somewhere else, then you can get a part-time contractor job, but most contractor jobs I see are full-time and not part-time
