    Can you please make video on the questions you were asked on the interview? It would be immensely helpful

    You did all of the papers BEFORE the summer???? I didn't even know what course I wanted to do then!!

      I happened to have my mind made up pretty early. I think I knew I was going to apply for engineering at Oxford from January when I got my offer from UNIQ for 2019. I appreciate that I'm likely in the minority there though - its completely OK for people's decisions to take longer!

    Hi can you please make a video about how to prepare for interview? I have applied to physics at Oxford. Did the PAT last week. I found it literally the hardest amongst the past papers. If the mean is very low, I might get an interview😢

    Thanks for making these videos! I was just wondering if you did the 2017 Sample Paper for practice, and if so, what your score was? I have just done it, and want to get an idea of the sort of score other people got for it (as there is obviously no admissions report). Thank you!! :)

      Hi! Unfortunately, I didn't actually sit that paper. The 2017 sample is basically a compilation of previous papers and since I'd already done those papers there wasn't much point in doing the sample. If it's any use, I got 72/100 on the 2018 paper and 53/100 on the 2017 one - I still don't know my 2019 paper score. Best of luck!

    why did you attempt the past papers under timed exams conditions in autumn after attempting them in non-exam conditions before summer?
    wouldn't attempting the papers under timed exam conditions on both occasions have been a better preparation?
    what can I do to improve my score between papers? just general revision, and going through incorrect and unanswered questions in detail?
    where did you get the interview shortlisting formula?

    • @Oxcentric
      @Oxcentric  Před 3 lety +3

      1. When approaching this unfamiliar exam for the first time, I wanted to give myself the best chance to make a good attempt rather than rush through and almost certainly perform badly due to inexperience. When you very first encounter PAT questions, I think your goal should be to try and understand what the central concepts within the problems are, rather than to just get the answer in the back (though, getting it correct is obviously still important later!). If you performed poorly on a paper and weren't able to make reasonable attempts at most of the questions before marking it then you risk learning just how to answer those specific past questions when ideally you need to build a general mindset for approaching the problems.
      2. Going through incorrect and unanswered questions is really important - if you don't understand your mistakes then you may well repeat them! Trying problems from other sources is important too and will hopefully help build the general approach you need.
      3. I got the interview shortlisting formula from the PAT website - I think it should be in the 2019 or 2020 admissions report?
      Hope that answers your questions.

    Great video, is further maths needed for pat?

    • @Oxcentric
      @Oxcentric  Před 4 lety +2

      It's not mandatory, and >95% of the content won't come up, however it is very much useful practice for the PAT skills such as some of the more standard mathematical questions.

    hey,
    i’m doing the PAT this November 5th and I’m due to finish all the available Past papers soon
    my plan is to note down the questions i got wrong after marking each paper and do them after all the papers are completed. am i on the right track?
    do you suggest i maybe do them immediately after each paper or leave them towards the end? if i do them at the end, should it be in timed conditions?
    also, should i do all the papers again once i’m done with that or would it just be a waste of time? should i do the NSAA and the ENGAA papers instead, if at all?
    thanks for all the help in advance, i’m really lost so any help is welcome 🙏🏼

      @@hdhshshans9707 Well, there is no short cut, but I would suggest going through the solutions for the first 5 years of PAT to familiarize yourself with the problem solving mindset before attempting the papers timed. That is what I did, I don't know if it'd work for you, so try at your own risk, haha.
