Hey! Just wanted to say that this tutorial is great, but there’s a lot of things you just assume we know, for example 12:35, I have no idea why we can see through that circle, because if I lower the opacity then even the black edge changes too. Then, when I duplicate the circle, the reaction is totally different, the black edge of the first circle can still be seen under the new circle. It would be great if you explain this because I wasn’t able to continue the tutorial bc of that. Thanks for the video!

I'd say, using pen tool you need to control the Béziers. which is very difficult to have a perfect geometry. Having shape builder that can subtract shapes is easier and more better aligned
