  • Tara Henry has an eye on the entire softball scene as the general manager of Softball America, but in looking ahead to the start of the college season, she sees lots of crimson and cream. OU has been and continues to be the sport’s biggest story, and Henry dives into all things Sooners and much more on The Jenni Carlson Show.
    Episode highlights:
2:20: What gives OU the best chance of four-peating and what might keep the Sooners from another title?
6:55: Henry played at UCLA, so what does her experience on some superb Bruin teams tell her about how OU keeps things in harmony with so many great players?
8:50: How tough was it to do the preseason top 25 for Softball America?
11:25: What team might be best equipped to derail the Sooners?
13:25: What about Texas, OSU and Baylor, three other really good teams in the Big 12?
16:00: What was behind Henry’s recent move to Softball America?
20:10: Has college softball come far enough to have villains? And are they dressed in crimson and cream?
22:20: Is the OU dynasty bad for college softball?

I hope OU football becomes as powerful, and dominant in football, as OU Women's Softball is!! Women's Softball has the potentional to become the most watched teams in the world.

Not possible to be that dominant in football, especially with the new super conference and playoff format.

I mean OU football is arguably the Top 4 football program of all time. It's just hard to dominate in football. Saban won 5 at Bama in 17 years and he's the goat. That's 12 years he didn't win a championship. But these ladies are monsters mane they're gonna keep winning 😤🔥

    These girls play well together
They don't get mad when pulled
    They enjoy the game

Why do so many good players decide to go to OU? Well, the first thing is the winningest coach in Softball History is Patty Gasso [G.O.A.T.], second I would say that they are consistent at winning, isn't that what players want to do is win. The coaching staff is excellent, and I could go on.

A 1-2 punch of Jordy and NiJaree in consecutive games in the CWS is the biggest threat.

OU's dominance is not ruining softball. The abuse of the transfer portal and disrespect shown to a recruit's commitment to play for OU is.

They are the Alabama football of softball. As Sooner fans, we should cherish how special these girls are, because we will probably never see this dominance ever again in our lifetime.

@jag136 yeah they were dominant when very few women were as competitive and teams were scarce. This is a different type of dominance

I watch OU from AUSTRALIA and ladies you missed the one main thing in your interview that is the reason for there success, honour God and he will honour you, they will not always be at the top because pride will come and with that the fall it always happens, but until that time God bless OU team.🙏

  • @blind-dateoutdoorssportsma547

I'm all for an OU 4-peat, but not at the expense of recruits. May, Coleman, and Jennings deserve better. Recruits are like our children. Transfers are not. Conceived during the recruiting process, we as fans look forward to their birth onto the OU campus and look forward to welcoming them to our softball family. As such, we expect their parents, their coach, to take care of them and to put them before before all others. How would you feel as a child if your mother, after giving birth to you, went out and adopted another child? How would you feel if your coach, after selling you on coming to OU, went out and brought in a transfer. As one of the top softball programs in the country, when you are literally able to have your pick of the top players coming in out of high school, there should never be a need to backstab a recruit. On a side note, it was a racist move to bring in Brito when Mendez graduated out. Donihoo is a far better in and out fielder than Brito will ever hope to be. And Donihoo, whose BA being a 300 plus and being a key component to winning a WCWS, deserved better from Gasso. Nugent and Erickson deserved better from Gasso, who brought in transfers to replace them. I'm not shocked that they transferred out, but I am pissed. That's why I am not shocked that Bahl transfered out. Godly conduct actually does matter to her. So are a lot of OU fans. We are not tired of IU winning. We are sick with shame as to how Gasso is going about it. We see that Gasso is replacing 8 of the 10 out going players for next year with Recruits. That's great, but what of the other two? More transfers? We hope not. Honor the sport of softball. Respect and honor the recruits' commitment. This is as important as keeping men from being allowed to play on a female sports team. Tara, you being from UCLA, where Bustos was allowed to play, you should be standing up for recruits and females more than I.

Patty has talked about (and I've written about before) how important Patty thought it was to get Sydney Romero back in the day because it was an entry to the OC Batbusters program. The pipeline is still churning.
