ABOUT THE VOICE
The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns with multi-Grammy-nominated Cuban-born singer-songwriter and actress Camila Cabello claiming her red chair alongside superstar returning coaches John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Carson Daly returns as host for Season 22.
The show's innovative format features four stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts and Live Performance Shows. This season's Battle Advisors include Charlie Puth (Team Camila), Jazmine Sullivan (Team Legend), Jimmie Allen (Team Blake) and Sean Paul (Team Gwen). For the first time ever, the third phase of the competition will include three-way knockouts.
In the Live Performance Shows, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast, and the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

@@jmit3491 i think you missed the point. Taylor Swift started her career singing country, she now sings pop. Darius Rucker started his career singing blues/rock/pop, he now sings country. The point was that country artists lately have been singing a blend of country and pop, new age country, rather than pure country like was sung before the 2000s. 🤦

I don’t like country but I have to be honest, this audition was actually really good. He has a good voice, and it’s not too whiny or yodelly like some other country singers who are very nasally, his voice conveys emotions and that’s what driven me in.

No doubt Bryce has a good voice but it’s just a fact that country music simply isn’t hugely popular outside of America. Especially the over the top religious aspect and conservatism that goes with the genre.

Europe is just one example as is many Asian countries etc etc etc. Americans think they’re the center of the Universe in everything but they’re not. A young George Strait … maybe? So good and lots of potential!!! Love it when he sang slow and clearly articulated the lyrics! Rare to hear clear lyrics and beautiful tone! Nice and relaxing to listen to.
Bryce definitely is in the same vein of the old school traditional country singers like George Strait and Alan Jackson. He lets the song be the focus of the performance, and the best male country singers from Hank Williams, Sr on down to today's performers have always just stood on stage with a guitar and sang. No vocal gymnastics or flashy spectacles needed. Bryce Leatherwood fits in nicely with that group. I hope that he wins, and that I hear him on my radio soon.
@@Westernfan444 - I agree. The more fireworks and background singers you have, the song is lost. I like hearing the lyrics! I think he should focus even more on keeping it pure like George Strait. Most of these young singers slur the words and are lost in all the noise. “Keep it simple stupid” is the formula for success.

Vocal gymnastics are nice to have though because it shows more of the singers vocal range. Runs, riffs, vibrato and other gymnastics add a little bit of flair and help show how talented a singer is. Obviously you can be talented without gymnastics but if you have an entire album without anything it can get stale and boring.
@@nathanfortun5768 I disagree. I feel those elements distract from what really matters, and that's the song. A perfect example of this was Kim Cruse's performance of Gershwin's "Summertime"; I love that song, and the operetta Porgy and Bess, but Kim played around with it, and she held and stretched out notes that I lost interest because of her vocal tricks. In my head I was thinking, "Lady please for the love of Pete just sing the song."
I know musical tastes are subjective, but I prefer artists who put the song first and themselves second. and for me Bryce was a perfect example of this. I'm also a fan of traditional country music, and he epitomized that sound as well when his song choices. I'm thrilled that he was announced as this year's winner, and I hope Nashville lets him be himself, and doesn't try to push him into crossover or pop themed country. I am very much not a fan of pop or rap in my country which is why Morgan Myles didn't appeal to me even though she had a nice voice. I look forward to hearing Bryce on my radio soon.
