Sadly my young Senegal just passed a few days ago (sadly he was only 8m old and the sweetest thing I have ever had, likely we suspect partially there was genetics involved with the illness he had as well as bad luck with a bacterial infection), but it seems it opened up an opportunity for me to adopt an older 18yr old Senni that needs a new home desperately, it originally plucked all its feathers in its original home and has recovered from that over the last few years at the rescue, but due to behavior with other birds its now cage bound. I am curious what is your thoughts with such a bird what could I potentially expect in your opinion on time to gain the trust to step up and start proper training, with my young one I was able to get things going in about one and a half months, from being able to put him on his back to learning everything from waving, shaking, spinning and so on.
Thats awesome. Can I ask what happened to your other channel.
Hello, so I got a bit of a loaded question, I’m fostering a 6 year old presumed female Senegal parrot for a little over a week now. She started out a little shy but two days ago she was warming up to me and becoming cuddly but not showing any signs of being hormonal besides rubbing her head against my shoulder and neck. I’ve only ever petted her in the head and neck. She suddenly attracted me so I put her away but after calmed down I opened her cage and for the first time she climbed down from it but only to walk to me and climb me so she could attack my hand for no reason and making it bleed and not letting go of it. So today I let her out because she was calm and she stepped up nicely and hung on my shoulder for a while until she started rubbing her head and behaving strangely so I put her away. What the hell do you thing is going on? I thought it could be a hormonal thing but she’s only known me for 8 days and I’ve never done anything to trigger her hormones and even then that wouldn’t explain her coming from from her cage, waking across the living room only to attack me.
