I think you got a great deal, I have seen nothing but positive reviews on the PX storm and is very underrated.
Much appreciated, Ray
@@TheFirearmGuy Thank you , love your channel'.😀
I have this exact pistol and LOVE it, very accurate. I bought it because I shoot a lot of revolver so I'm used to heavier and longer trigger pull.
I have it loaded and stored in my kitchen. It serves its purpose and I shoot it on occasions at my local steel plate matches. Order and install a hammer spring from a Beretta 8000 Cougar part# 1485830B and it will get that pull down to under #7 and functioning just fine with no light strikes at all.
Great idea! Sub 7# is a very usable trigger.
Yes, sir 325, I'd buy in a heartbeat. I have PX4 COMPACT and love the weapon. It's part if my CCW rotation.
Never knew of or saw the DAO model. I have 3 PX4 storms in SA/DA with decocker/ safeties. 2 are 9mm and 1 in .40 cal. Love all 3 of mine and they are smooth shooters. Like your videos !
Thanks so much, Thomas
I had one for a while. It's a bit heavy so I eventually went with a CZ polymer and sold the Storm for more than I paid for it originally. My PX4 Storm never failed to fire and the rotating barrel did a lot to quell the recoil. Still a decent gun. Thanks again, Dan.
Great comment Guy
I’d buy it. Put a $12 reduced power 10 lb hammer spring from Langdon Tactical in it. Great pistol. A real workhorse. Throw a set of Talon grips on it also. The pro grips are fantastic.
Solid points Mike
A gun that functions that well is never a "bad" gun.
Solid point bro
I love my PX4 compact. I'd also love a DAO version, but I'm a revolver guy, so the trigger wouldn't bother me a bit. Nice looking sidearm, buddy! Three and a quarter seems like a great deal
👍👍Thanks Dan. The best thing I ever did to improve my shooting with my semi autos is to practice and shoot a revolver in double action. So I would think learning to shoot that pistol in double action would help you to shoot other semi autos better. But I don’t know if I would want to buy that one, but if I had it I would keep it.
The P250 has a very smooth DAO trigger and it’s compatible with most P320 accessories.
The p250 has one of the smoothest d.a. triggers ever for a production pistol and safer in the holster than a p320.
@@laurineil-morin3792 yup. It’s like entire world forgot about it. But it’s a complicated story. Especially in relation to the p320
For some reason I never took interest in that
@@TheFirearmGuy See I figured it’d be right up your alley since you love the Kahr double action trigger so much. The travel is longer and lighter but the break isn’t as crisp. Similar smoothness though.
Its an option for those who need a home defense weapon. The DAO is good in this category like Grand Power soft recoil control set up.
I got a barrel and spare parts for the P938 from E bay and rechambered the barrel to 9x21mm. I use a solid alumium, hollowbased hp that is split nearly in half. 45 grs, 2200 fps, 500 ft lbs, no more recoil than a Makarov. At impact the bullet breaks in half, creating two diverging wound tracks. The segments are unstable, hard, sharp cornered and the very high velocity means that the termporary gas cavity destroys any vital organ tissue that gets "caught' between the segments as they penetrate.
Yes … I would buy that from you.. Still relevant for me.. as you know people preferences are different.. I like DAO pistols, and being retired LEO, I’ve used those and the Cougars and 96D as well
I sent a Sig P229r to Sig to have them install the da/sa setup. They did it and installed night sights per my request and boy was it a much better setup than the DAK trigger that was in it.
A lot of people don't like DAO pistols because of the long and sometimes heavy trigger pull. I have two Sig P250's 9mm and 40S&W that are DAO. I've gone thru both and they are in Wilson Combat Grip frames with Xcess Big Dot tritium front sights and original rears blacked out. Shot double action revolvers for years so I'm used to the long deliberate trigger pull. I keep the 9mm as a secondary night stand gun to backup a cloned Colt 635 9mm pistol..
I picked up a used p250 .40 recently and love it. I'm used to DAO trigger pulls from having used military handguns. Lol.
I would consider an SA/DA model.
I had the Beretta PX4 on my radar. Not the DAO, but the DA/SA only models. I was fortunate enough to be at the range when someone next to me had the full size and the compact models. When I asked them about the pistols he stated that he loved them. I allowed him to shoot my CZ P10C. He was extremely accurate with it, and had a much better grouping using the CZ pistol. It provided me with all of the intel I needed to know. Considering you have to send it to Landon Tactical to get a slide cut and pay for an Optics Cut at prices higher than anywhere on the planet it’s a pass for me. And no I would not spend 325 on it since I can save the money towards something newer.
You have to do the gun that I've been carrying for 20 years. The Glock 32 in 357 sig Because ammo is not fun to find or buy.
Plan ahead, do you grocery shop everyday?
I had a Glock 32 but the ammo cost kept me away
I'm a firm believer in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
My Primary EDC is my Gen 3 Glock 26. Has been for several years.
Recently changed out the extractor, ejector, recoil spring/guide rod and sights. Will most likely continue that way.
Love it! Mark
I always wanted a PX4 but I would want the DA/SA but at $325 I would buy the double action only. There are a lot of guns out there like it, Sccy for one and some revolvers.
I’ve never seen the double action only version 🤯
Thanks, Dan! It IS relevant and nearly ideal! I will buy all you have $325. I _carry_ ONLY DA/SA or DAO _hammer fired_ handguns. Revolvers or semi-autos.
The Beretta meets this requirement and is relevant. At least among people who know the intent and purpose of self defense handguns and understand that a SAFE handgun is far more critical than a "good trigger pull", fast reset, optics compatibility, bore axis, sight picture, flashlights, lasers or threaded muzzles. Even a slide stop/release is optional. All these cost adding features are simply not needed in a close range, self defense handgun.
People also should understand that a self defense handgun is NOT a police duty handgun and the purposes and requirements are different. People who carry for self defense are not sent to serve warrants, don't do traffic stops of random vehicles, don't respond to domestic disputes, will never have to "fire and maneuver" or provide covering fire for colleagues making a raid on a meth lab. You will generally NOT be shooting through barriers, car windshields, car doors or firing on a barricaded suspect.
The Beretta could even meet THOSE requirements if called upon...at the expense of being a bit large and bulky for concealed carry. I was a police officer for 36 years. I carried a Beretta 92F, and a SIG P228 during many of those years (and DA revolvers before that). I would not have hesitated to choose this handgun. One of my off duty guns (and a gun I still carry often) was a S&W Model 3914 DAO, which is slimmer due to a single stack magazine.
I still carry many of the guns I used as off duty guns. I very rarely carry any of my former duty handguns.
For self defense...if you fire at an assailant, wound them...and they run away, you WIN! If you display your firearm, ANY firearm, and they run away, you WIN! That is all your self defense handgun is called upon to do. "Adjust attitudes". There are plenty of victims who rely on calling 911, they will go find one of them.
Ideally the self defense handgun should be extremely reliable, safe to carry AND simple to operate. It should never fire unless the intent is to deliberately fire a round in self defense. Pull the trigger to fire, stop pulling the trigger to stop firing. DAO, hammer fired, semi autos and revolvers are ideal.
The DA/SA hammer fired semi-autos are OK also, preferably with a hammer drop feature ONLY, not a manual safety (such as SIGs and the Beretta 92G) A manual safety is not needed for a gun with a long, heavy trigger pull for the first (or all) shots.
Insightful comment Gary and I enjoyed reading it. You sir are a wealth of experience
I say its still relevant Dan , its like a high capacity revolver , practice shooting it and you will be efficient with it , i remember your review and shooting impression on this gun.
Yes sir jet. That was a while ago. Appreciate it man
In 2008 the Maryland State Police adopted the PX4 Storm Type D in .40S&W, but in 2012 they dropped the Beretta for Glock. So I guess that means it's no longer relevant?? (For the record, I like my PX4 Storm Type F, but I'm not a fan of the Type D.)
Well said Rider. Thanks for the information
I had no idea they made a DAO… good video
Thanks, Brady
I love the rotating barrel
Hey Chebva
Yes still relevant for people looking for DA only in something besides a revolver.
I rented and fired a PX4 Storm at my local range but it was the DA/SA version. It was in 40 caliber which was not exactly what I was looking for but that was all the range had for rent at the time. It didn't matter in the end, I still loved it! That rotating barrel system really does help with recoil management.
I didn't know about the DA only version. The heavy trigger pull wouldn't bother me as I'm used to firing revolvers but I don't think I would want to buy a PX4 Storm without a safety or decocker. Any gun I've ever owned that wasn't a revolver had to have a safety, a decocker or both. It's just personal preference and it has to do with the way I have to carry.
Great comment. Thanks man!
Nope. The D model is totally relevant considering its other options. Maybe if it was a smaller concealable carry model in double action but not as a full size law enforcement model.
I am not sure the dao px4 storm was relevant when you bought it, but you liked it and you shot it well and that is all that matters
Thanks Ardmore
Haven't shot either , by looks i like the 911 for carry . The Beretta at 325 would make a good home defense pistol . 😊
I've gotthe PX4 Compact Carry...phenomenal gun. It's the hammer fired G19...
Love it Orlando
I like it and I would just enjoy it in my collection. It may not be as relevant but it's unique a valuable in my opinion.
thats a nice pistol dan since you first showed that i havent found one anywhere so yes i would buy it
Good stuff. Thanks Les
Usually the new holster I have from my root girl CR it's awesome😊
Px4 storm I would like to try.
Absolutely relevant. Still a PX4, so it’s reliable and a soft shooter. DAO makes it great for carry. The only thing that would be an improvement was if it was optics cut
I always wanted a Px4 Storm ...
I absolutely loved my PX4 compact, wish i never sold it. Probably my favorite polymer handgun I've ever owned. I would buy that for 325 in a heartbeat!
Good stuff XDM
I would love a D model PX4. Beretta never did much with their D versions which look so clean.
I can understand why only the DA/SA remains, especially in the G format.
Thanks bro
I checks the, simple, no frills category
This was the first gun I ever shot years ago. Beretta have a much better version out now, two versions actually. It’s a very accurate gun but I don’t know how relevant it is today, especially since there are two versions that are way better than the original.
Well said Dave
I have one with the decocker only. It's cool,it's supposed to be super durable.Shoot's great,I kinda leave it in the same now.
Thanks, Lee
One of my favorite guns
I love my Beretta Cougar 8000.....The Storm's forerunner. Actually the Stoeger Cougar I'd had was just slightly more accurate, but yes Sir they're both DA/SA
Good info Christopher
I went with SIG P938 !
Make sure u keep checkin in on the guide rod. I had one and my guide rod was threaded which i dont understand but every 100 rounds or so i had to check it because it would loosen itself and one day i fired and my guide rod just popped out. I dont know if yours is threaded like mine was but if it is give it a good twist every here n there.
@@rillo806 Try some Blue thread lok it's not permanent but should help.
Id buy it for sure! Tried to get my buddy to sell me his but no luck!
I still have & carry my Colt Mustang. It is very accurate & small for carry. Its only 380 but, what hell, its better than a stick.
Thanks, Bob
I love the PX4 Storm probably my favorite polymer framed pistol. I dont like the type D but yea the PX4 is definitely still relevant. Im not sure if they still do but at one time the Canadian Border Patrol carried PX4 pistols
Mine too. I have a Langdonized Compact Inox, and it's my favorite after owning dozens of pistols over the years. It's simply the most underrated pistol I can think of.
The Type D was discontinued because DAO is much less popular than DA/SA. Both the PX4 full size and the PX4 compact have a strong and growing following. It is one of the best shooting stock pistols currently in production and the enhanced versions are even better.
This is why i buy glocks. I don't need the gun I'm investing into learning to use and master to be discounted. Cutting me off from cheap replacment parts and company support.
I'm pretty sure my great grand kids will be able to rebuild my gen 2 glock with readily available parts.
Did Beretta discontinue it? Still on their website.
I really do like DAO pistols. Has some old Para LDAS that I love and old double eagle, but you can't beat a HK LEM. I appendix carry and I prefer a double action with no safety. So yeah I would put up for a the storm.
Love it chicken
What about the Taurus Spectrum?
That's a good one to add to this series
Not relevant in my opinion since the SIG P250 is also a discontinued hammer fired DAO with a 7 lb trigger pull. That trigger pull is lighter than the PX4 Storm D ( I shot it a while back), just as safe to carry (in my humble opinion), and it’s what I carry to this day (P250 Compact version).
Springfield dropped the 911 when the hellcat started to come around. Everyone went to micro striker fire stuff. 911 is still a great little gun. Beretta Storm in the D config was not ideal. Long and funky reset like the 229 DAK. Storm for that money is still worth the price paid but that version was a good call to drop.
Good dak reference
For $325 I would buy it in a second! I love the PX4 Sorm series.
Good stuff MD. Hope all is well with you
Storm no, Springfield updat get it to 10 -12 rds like CSX you have a useful gun
I like it!.I would definetly buy it . I Like DAO!
Yes I would 👍👍I love the safety of it
Thanks Dan
Hi Dan!
Excellent Another Great Video 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Thanks again!
I'm not much on double action only maybe for pocket gun
Thanks Charles
I love the PX4's in general, but a DAO trigger should be S&W revolver double action quality; this one doesn't appear to be.
Thanks man!
Old original LCP?
That's a good one. I will try to get my hands on and LCP 380
Heck yeah. If we met up, I'd certainly buy it for 3 and a quarter.
Any double action trigger Pull is a good carry gun...
If I had $400 & I needed a gun, this would be at the top of the list. If I were looking for a new gun, the PX 4 would be at the top of the list. A PX4 D model would not be on my new gun list.
Thanks, JRC
Some folk really like a DA only. I like Kahr and Sig P250 are good guns. If price is right I would buy it. I would want a 6-7 pound smooth action.
Good stuff G M
Yes I would Dan!
Thanks Buz. Hope all is well with you
I'm cool with DAO triggers but the false reset is a deal breaker for me.
Thanks Justin
Those PX4 Storm pistols are solid, accurate and reliable. You know, Beretta has a good reputation. $325 is a good deal for one of those. I would by at that price. Relevant, I say yes.
Thanks, Domo
I think it is a good gun, still relevant. SA had to make room for the Hellcat. PX4 is a good gun in full and compact with rotating barrel. It to is relevant. PX4 is still on berettas website.
Yes the PX4 models are still available but the type d is not
Una copia de la Sig Sauer P238.
Highly underrated IMO.
Good stuff! Silverback
Interesting
That is half the price of a new PX4 in my state
Yeah the price bar is always raised in California
Nice shooter
Thanks brother
Interesting Way on how you formed your questis PX4 storm in double action, single action. A relevant pistol today 100%. Is the it PX4 storm double action relevant? Yes, yes, however. It starts to fill a small niche and will only appeal to 5-8% of the gun community. And 100% I would buy at $400
Have a full size Px4 Storm, DA/SA, decocker. Picked it up for $200 the cerakot was in bad shape but l said WTF. 7 hours later no Cerakot and friends thought it was another pistol. Went to the range 100 rounds later great pistol, smooth trigger, very accurate, the recoil is less than my other .45's(Colt,Walther, Kahr). So l guess the purchase can be rated a success. Come to find out there's a large contingency of Px4 individuals who rate this gun very high.
Love the comment. Jay
This one was not discontinued; the subcompact was discontinued.
No the type d was discontinued
Start a series would you buy it lol
DA Every Single Shot??...
That's just silly.
I liked it but sold it. Love the 380 though and will never sell it.
Very cool fpav
For 3 Bens & Quarter I would consider it
Thanks, Joseph
PX4 is Beretta’s version of Hi-Point. No wonder they discontinued it. Not something I’d be interested in.
I was thinking about that. And yes you do have a point.
Thanks man
Anyone can learn to shoot DOA. Once you do, it is no different than any other type of trigger, imo...it is way safer to carry as well. I prefer DOA all day long to glock type SOA without a safety...which i refuse to carry...
Which DAO pistol do you carry?
@@sydsM3 ... Hello officer... Can i help you?
@@curly__3 I’m not sure what you mean by that. I am not an officer. I just don’t hear of too many people carrying hammer fired pistols and was wondering which one you use if any.
It's relevant, especially at that price. The manufacturer makes high quality, reliable, accurate guns and that immediately is a plus. Revolvers are DA but have a much lower capacity than this gun. So, if revolvers are relevant this gun is, too. I'd actually consider carrying it if it was a good fit for my hand and not too heavy. Otherwise, it would make a very nice home defense gun. And an additional plus is that, for me, training with DA guns improves my trigger control. So it would be a good home defense gun, possibly a carry gun, and a good training gun at a nice price. That qualifies it as relevant.
Great common Andy. Thanks bud!
I'm not sure it ever was relevent. For $325 I would buy a Taurus. That double action only is best suited to revolvers so this thing is kind of the labradoodle of firearms. Love this series thank you
would you buy a Springfield xds mod 2 4in osp for $350 today?
Would I buy it for $325? Absolutely! Probably home defense only. Am a Springfield guy and am missing that 911 in the stable. Hope to find one now. Excellent informative video as usual. Love the series.
I really appreciate that. Ramon
Still relevant imho, so is the CZ-P01.!
Good stuff Steven
I need this 911 I made the switch too pocket carry 😮
I really dig it
I shot a friends PX4 fullsize and it shot well. However, I would not buy one due to the DAO. Tho I have a CX4 Storm and like it a lot, the Beretta 92FS is a much better gun. If the SHTF, I'm pairing the Carbine with the 92 as my primary arms. I will never miss the PX4 and so to me - not relevant.
Thanks man!
I'm not sure if i would want it with today's guns. If it was my only one today, then yea I would shoot it and enjoy it but it really lacking and i would seek an upgrade. Sure you can be proficient with the heavy trigger but it will take some time and a lot of training. In a moment when time and precision really matter, the last thing I need to focus on is making a long heavy pull and long release while keeping my sights down range and my situational awareness. PX4 is a fantastic gun and I have longed for the Langdon model however this is not it. The Stoeger cougar 8000 was an outstanding pistol if you can find it. its an alloy framed PX4, shoots so soft.
Well said orga
Very Nice. The DAO Crowd. Is very Small. Group of People
That's true Dwayne but they are out there
They still make the px4 and recently updated it shown during shot show. Even though they stopped making this version, its still a px4 and the px4 itself is still very relevant. So yes it is. Now the SA 911 isn't relevant. Because they stopped making the gun, sig's p938 is better, and S&W made it a double stack.
Thanks, JP
I know a lot of people liked the Storms. Never owned one myself though. All hammer guns I've owned though, I carried condition 2, so DA doesn't bother me none. I'd imagine you could get a spring kit to lighten that trigger pull, but idk. Is it relevant? Sure. Would I pay $325 for it used? Nah. If you need the money and let me haggle you down to $250, maybe. 😉
Thanks, Michael
DAO hammer fired pistols will probably make a comeback.
Interesting point Mike, time will tell
For 325 you could do a lot better. The Px4 isn't a seller and DAO is weird in a semi auto. Not relevant any longer.
Yes,it's a Beretta!!!
Thanks Larry
Any PX4 Storm is still Relevant...Excellent pistol with a rotating barrel...Its a Beretta.....
