Squiver.. I don't have one yet.. I have a lot of skis but specifically 4 for 4 different conditions.. I probably could use my Stormrider 105 for the same conditions as my 104 Free.. My big thing is that I don't want to wreck my Stockli.. If it gets too slushy too quick then I don't want to risk the chance of hitting a rock.. When you guys were talking about the last skis I was going to compare them to Stormriders for the square flat tail rather than 104 Free for the round rocker tail..
Hello essentials team, Great videos! It really helps me making better choices for my next set of skis. My skiing is mostly in Quebec and in your neighborhood . I usually add 10 days at West per year. I am intermediate to advance 52, 5’8” at 190 lbs. I still struggle in tight places and 2blacks bumps runs I am looking to buy 2 pairs of skis, one for everyday in North East and a second pair for snow day, spring skiing in the crud and out west. I think I am set on the everyday ski which is the Stockli Laser AR, hopefully you get more sizes soon. I am thinking 168 The second would be the 2023 102 Ranger or the Rossi Sender 104. I would love a second Stockli @102 but I know I will damages these a little faster while skiing late in the spring, so dollars wise it doesn’t make to much sense to me. What would be your recommendations and any idea of the length ? I know from your video rocker and camber makes a diff in the size I will be at Stowe in 2 weeks Thanks Stef I like skiing at diff speed, mostly quick turn on the side in the fluffy stuff. I am looking for some all around ski for bowls and highway in between out West.
Hi Stef! The Sender feels a little stronger than the Ranger 102, particularly in the tail. While that's a nice feature, the Ranger 102 is a little looser and I think more forgiving. Considering how you describe your struggles in tighter, more technical terrain, I wonder if the Ranger 102 would be more beneficial for you. Either way, that's going to be an awesome 2 ski quiver whether you choose the Ranger or Sender and pair it with the Laser AR. That Laser is awesome, so much fun to ski.

Thought the brief mention of the enforcer 104 comparison to the sender 106 was interesting. How does the Rosi 106 & 104 compare to the enforcer 104 in carving performance and in deeper pow? I’ve got an enforcer 104 and love being able to carve strong turns as well as initiate turns easily in deeper snow
The 104 makes pretty clean and round turns while the Sender 106 is more of a straight-shooter, especially when it comes to softer snow. While the 104 will want to track more across the hill, the Sender prefers more of the true fall line experience. That's the main difference, although they're both pretty accomplished turners.
Looking at these to upgrade my old experience 77s. Looking to add more float and a little more tail rocker. I like to ski backwards but only short distances. Current tails catch too easily. I’m intermediate and ski Midwest groomers mostly but make 1-2 trips out west every year. I feel like these fit the bill, agree?
Sender 94 would probably be the best out of the new collection to upgrade to from your Experience 77. There's not a tremendous amount of rise in the tail, but enough to feel a little less catchy. Still not the best for skiing switch, but sounds like that's not a huge concern? Definitely more suitable than your current skis.

The Sender 94 is an overlooked ski. If you're looking for one ski that does it all, at your stats and application, I'd go with the 94--I think the 102 is on the wide side for you. Have fun! SE

Flatter tail in the Sender 94, so behaves a little differently. It's almost like the Sender 94 is like a blend between the Stance 90 or 96 and the QST 92 or 98. It's not quite as burly as the Stance, but the shape is closer in comparison. More responsiveness out of the tail. QST skis are far more playful and maneuverable, almost surfy at times, but they're not as precise or as strong in the tail. It depends how much groomer performance you're looking for in the QST. Some will find plenty, some will likely want more out of the tail. Hope that helps!
Sender 104 Ti is the closest thing to the Soul 7 in Rossignol's new line, but it really has a different overall feel in my opinion. It's a little stronger, but also slightly more demanding than the Soul 7. Elan's Ripstick 106 has a lot of similarities to the Soul 7 if you're looking to retain a similar feel. DPS Pagoda 100 or 112 share a similar shape too. Hope that helps!

How often are you in softer, deeper snow? If it's not tremendously often, I'd stick with the narrower skis for more versatility. Between the two, I would expect you'd prefer the Sender as it feels a little stronger, more stable, and more damp, which is often preferred by skiers your size. Maverick would feel quicker and more agile, but not as smooth or damp. Hope that helps!
Stance is a bit heavier, with more metal than Sender. This makes it quieter and damper, but a bit more lumbering. The Sender is pretty darn quick and snappy while the Stance feels more substantial. More aggressive skiers may gravitate towards Stance to get that top-level of performance.
Yes, that's mainly the case, although they've tightened up the build and shape quite a bit. The Sender 94Ti has more of a directional shape with a flatter tail and a lower-profile shovel. This makes it better at on-trail situations, and while the Sin was very well-known for its softer snow prowess, the new 94 isn't quite the same. It's heavier and less rockered, so it's not quite as good in powder, but for all other snow conditions and terrain, it's a pretty nice upgrade in terms of performance.
Fun how these collection videos keep coming with a little hype clip at the font; short and fun, not enough to come-off as heavy-handed marketing. Those clips are all the same though. I'm waiting for some company to just come-up with a bit saying, "Yeah, this is a pretty good ski." Maybe the Blaze could get marketed as the ultimate dad ski that way.

Hi Jeff, will you ski the 106 TI Plus in 187cm? Since I am at your height. I had Soul 7 in 180cm before, but felt 180cm was too short. The longest skis I have are HRC in 182cm and Stance 96 in 182cm. Thanks.
Not quite as dramatic or splayed in the tail. Shovel is about the same, but the Ranger 96 has more in the tail. The Sender skis, all, have pretty flat and directional tails.
Ooooo..... just saw the 106 comes in a 194cm. I'm 6'3" and about 250 lbs. Advanced, aggressive skier, but just getting back into it after about a 6 year layoff. Looking for a squiver for out West (moving this Summer to MT, so banking on deeper snow than here in upstate NY - although Snow Ridge does ok) that I might put a Duke PT on that I sort of want to be "flickable" enough for trees and bumps. Bob, did you ski the 194?
No I was on the 187, and I'm not sure I'd go longer if I was to purchase personally. I would like to try it, although I would prefer to ski it in wider spaces and deeper snow. It definitely had some of the Ripstick Black notes to it, more so than Enforcer Unlimited. They do a good job of keeping the swing weight down, although it still takes some work to put the brakes on when needed.
We talk about this all the time, and how there are some big discrepancies between certain ski companies. The Atomics, for example, just pop off the snow and off the rack in terms of graphics, while skis like these Rossignols are more muted. But just like how they actually ski, some people like it loud, and others quiet.

Too bad you skipped the Squad, it's a neat ski! I've been on it most days this season; loves to go fast but not too difficult in tricky terrain.
It's just not going to be a big market for us, but there's certainly a proper application for it!

Coming from an original Soul 7 in 188mm, what would be the new equivalent? Mainly for Japan powder!!

Are you guys going to review the new Black Ops 98/118 soon? Did they change at all from 2022 or is it just the design?
No changes other than the new topsheets. A lot of people REALLY like the 118 so it'll probably stick around for a while yet
We have some good 98 footage, and I suspect we'll get to that one this spring or summer. No changes structurally for 2023, just graphics.

Those intro clips are funny--it's interesting to see the companies and what they come up with, with us getting more familiar with the brands.

Probably not. 180 would be more my speed in that ski. It's way different than the Soul 7.

Flickability is not a quality I realized I wanted in a ski. Thought I was down to Enforcer 104 Unlimited vs Ripstick Black 106

Still confused by Rossignol. After meeting their ignorant rep “Rusty” at Blue Mountain I don’t see ever buying anything from the brand again.
