Milling (porting) intake manifold ports with a wood router

  • After using the wood router to mill the center divider in my dual plane intake manifold I decided to try and use it to open the ports up a bit more. I switched to Edelbrock intake manifold gaskets and the gaskets were larger than my previous ones. I had a slight port match before now I'm enlarging them even more.
    I was really surprised how much control I had using the router to rough it in and then use my electric grinder and a bit to do finish work.

    I will follow suit on my 396 manifold..I used to work in building construction as ayoung man.We used carbide saws to cut and work aluminum control joints.I never dreamed of porting with a router...Wow! Never to old to learn..Thank you...

      That’s why they are mainly for port match then the manual work of blending kicks in.
