Re your Tesla analysis
1. Margins are indeed down BUT comparing that to Toyota seems strange Toyota makes ICE cars `great` but in a transitioning market they are like say Kodak yes they are great now but how do they transition, Tesla like everyone is in a difficult large item place, every single drop in price has been matched by interest rises SO the cheaper cars are costing consumers the same as before the drop, Tesla cant control interest rates.
2. If you stick with the EV story who is the competition?
3. If you don't believe in the A.I story (more a fact than story in my opinion when we can see the evidence) , then what is the entire point of your channel the last few years, the same argument could be made about every stock you talk about `maybe A.I will not work` .. then all stocks are broken in the tech sector as A.I IS a busted flush
4. Musk has already said how Tesla deals with this , it solves FSD, it creates Optimus, it grows energy etc, yes its a bet so are all stocks
5. Hertz can indeed just wait BUT if Tesla does solve FSD demand will change and Hertz will find it can`t buy so easily its not a straight WIN to wait its a win if FSD is not solved a loss if it is, no such calculation is easy, their are many factors in play.
6. Tesla is not in a bubble you have to factor demand, next to Fords and GM etc slowing there EV plans because they can`t keep up.

This was SO good!! So many important points to consider. What I really appreciate about this video is the casual 'real-ness' from both of you-- Your real and e honest opinions. And how these tech bohemoths affect each other in what they're trying to accomplish because they have the capital and talent to do that. The possibilities of what 'could be' gives me food for thought. You both said things I haven't thought of, one of which is about Amazon shopping. I like it when I'm shown an item I may be interested in. When I watch CZcams, I dislike the ads. The majority have absolutely no appeal to me. In conclusion, I feel both of you brought your own unique perspective to the viewers. Many likes!! Look forward to the next one. Also, I like it that this is quality video. Im so long on $TSLA that I’m going beyond my lifetime. I plan on my kids taking my shares. I’m 40.
It is important to step back and look at data every now and again, only because you believe in something doesn't make it automatically real. Is self driving ever going to be 100% correct every time? No !that small number of freak accidents will be on first pages of all newspapers and legislators will ban it or restrict , of course if it ever make it to be accepted. Tesla bot does it look promising? Yes but realistically it is light years away , it almost look like tesla is trying to justify investing in AI , remember roof tiles and home battery packs? Where are they? Remember fleet of robotaxies and stories that tesla will soon stop selling cars to the public because they are going to make more money using them as taxis....those were/are some insane claims. And as for Musk himself he is getting involved is some stupid comments inflammatory tweets rather than business

Love the podcast format, great analysis. Keep up the great work but mix up format, bit of everything keeps my interest. Would also like coverage of some small AI stocks along with the big boys.
As the lads failed to mention, Tesla guided in the Q2 earnings call that there would be factory shutdowns for efficiency and Model 3 Highland refresh reasons, and that production would be down. Wall Street did not reduce their consensus, hence the "miss".
Re: margins. Musk also guided in the same Q2 earnings call that he would sacrifice margins to zero or even into negative numbers in order to keep the factories pumping and thereby increase efficiencies of scale in order to keep reducing pricing, to keep increasing market share. This move appears brilliant as the recent earnings from Mercedes, Ford, and GM, have all announced a slow down in EV production as they desperately attempt to brings forth lower cost Gen 2 and 3 vehicles of their own.
The lads were correct when they mentioned short term pain for long term gain.

The thing with Tesla is: If you are a Trader then you should be worried. The long term vision for Investors is not only intact. It's better than ever. The short term stock price is irrelevant for Elon, Tesla and Investors.
I had to give you a thumbs up simply because I wish I was savvy enough to to follow the discussion. Is there a playbook you can give to a novice like myself to get me on the beginning floor of where you guys stand in your finance and investment knowledge?

just wanted to add to TSLA narrative, its was the worst earnings call and also volume will benefit Tesla also as access to many more customers for future paid services, also role as supplier of Auto OS, Batteries and Supercharger infra, Dojo has scope but not in proportion to EV business of course. But you analysis is amazing!!!

I love how Tesla reducing prices the focus is on company profit, but have they considered the effect of literally destroying their customers equity. I refuse to buy another Tesla without some assurances against that again.
Most people buying new cars expected to be able to trade up/out every few years. Now im in year two and my equity is -50% not because of anything other than price cuts. That is basically stealing from me. No other car companies do stuff like that

I like the format, it is a nice overview. Meta is the same for me. I bought 10 shares somewhere with 130 $ before the Metaverse discussions. And when we saw the discussions I thought, it is a mistake to buy additional shares. At the moment I´m thinking a lot about Tesla. They have some troubles, but on the other hand they have many chances with the fast technology advances. They are with the troubles still not cheap, but it could be worth buying some shares. For Alphabet I think, they are able to develop well in the future. Same for Microsoft and NVidia. My major challenge is, that I do not have an idea who will win all the new technologies. With this I distribute between the companies. With the weak market you can´t do a lot of failures in the long run.
I totally understand that major challenge; it's the same for me. Arif and I both spend A LOT of time researching the bleeding edge to see who has the advantage but the truth is the winner changes often and the AI race is a very close one right now (both in terms of software and hardware)
The narrative and environment is changing around EVs. The market is being attacked and slowed down. Governments are moving full EV targets back and media are turning back to negative sentiment. This is the largest worry.

Clearly missing the fact that it was announced months ago that the Model 3 line would be halted in order to be updated for the Highland version.
Also recently it was announced that 2023 investment would exceed the original guidance of 7 to 9 billion.
Did you even notice all legacy brands capitulate on EV recently?
Correct Normally outline business case, followed by full business case, followed by going to to tender??? So 100% why reference approval of FBC before going out to tender and appointment of provider.. obviously this is a stalling process or presenter unsure off the process .. typical

Ever since I turned on AI on Google search, I see myself using it more than scrolling down. So they can definitely be one of the top AI plays however how does this affect Google search/ ad revenue - positive or negative overall 🤔
Get results faster not good for ads, I've seen solutions of putting the ads into the ai response they need to do that

When Tesla reduces margin it is likely due to higher interest rates and other macroeconomic factors plus the effect it will have on competitors.

Tesla with such high valuation is really risky investment. Despite the poor results, Tesla stock price did not went down much. Google only missed their cloud revenue by just a bit and the share plunged. Google may be able to gain more market share once Gemini is officially released.
Tesla cutting prices doesn't only affect their margins, it crushes everyone else's (aside from Toyota evidently).
If Hertz was forward thinking enough to worry about Tesla osbourning themselves they would have been forward thinking enough not to buy the terrible EV offerings from other manufacturers. They have since realized that mistake.
Tesla shut down production at several factories for retooling .
He preannounced that in the prior qtr

As more ev’s, teslas or not, are made and charging Tesla will make more money and better margins from superchargers.
Plus the human not in a 3-5 years.

TSLA opensources it’s R&D so competitors will benefit. TSLA doesn’t need the income for doing it’s R&D since (for one) it doesn’t do dividends

Costs of EV batteries falling
Guys.. the reason Meta is going to win isn't because everyone will start using VR.. it's because it's a virtual substrate to train embodied AI. Synthetic data is the way to train the model. Meta has the substrate on which to create it.
5.40 gigs cast reduces maintenance cost?? Who’s maintenance cost? The owner of the car can only suffer total lost in most cases if he is unfortunate to be hit from all sides…
The idea is that giga-castings reduce part counts, which reduces things that could break, which reduces overall maintenance costs on the car for the owner.
@@TickerSymbolYOU Ohh common, you are an engineer. What things brakes in the rear and front body? Nothing ever brakes! Take example of apple unibody MacBooks. You spill some coffee on the keyboard of the UniBody MacBook and you are almost totalled! In order to replace the keyboard which is a 3 sheet of plastic bags ;) You need complete disassembly of the laptop, apple need to scrap a utterly hard to produce unibody shell as they don’t reuse meaning that they need to cast and CNC the unibody all over again because. Same thing with the gigscast only that it is mostly unrepairable by normal collusion center even for minor fender bender! As to the savings… yeh Tesla is pocketing the savings and not the consumer. They had margins picked 30% if I’m not mistaken. They only reduce the margins cause the sales are slowing. So no gigacast is worst for the environment same with apple unibody.

He's building a moat and in the current climate, he needs to lower prices to attract new customers with ever-growing lease costs not just killing the EV/ICE competition. Believe in the long game.

We were betrayed. I bought a plaid model S for 150K in 2021. Today its worth 45K and I am upside down 55K on the loan. I put all my savings into TSLA stock at 300 and its worth half. Don't be a sucker like me.
