Susanthika also won silver medal in the world athletics championship in 1997 held in athens.
Her hard work and perseverance is remarkable...

What a performance Susanthika Jayasinghe of Sri Lanka! As some have rightly said, the ONLY female athlete from Asia to medal in any of the sprint events at the Olympics. Many in Sri Lanka, who knew, say that had she received better backing from state officials and the government she would have run even faster and got the gold. Only trained in the US, on and off, for 2 years.
