I love these kinds of videos because it's the kind of fishing I love doing. Going into places like Dollar General and finding things to use for fishing that you just "know" can't work and the turn around and catch fish with them is, to me at least, like a guerrilla warfare kind of fishing. If you keep your expectations low, then you won't be disappointed.
Also if you find an old reel that's a bit shot, but the handle is okay, then you can try swap it out for the one on the DG reel. You may not be turning it into a Shimano, but it's one more serviceable rig in the rack.

I've noticed the fishing stuff is at the newest dollar general markets mostly and not the older standard DG stores.
Glad to see you back in action. I need to stop by D G now. With running Youth Fishing Clinics it s good to find inexpensive stuff to give to kids (as long as it's not complete junk).
After watching the full video I may skip the D G gear. Don't need to discourage kids from fishing.

Ehhh unfortunately I doubt that going to happen after ayo left lojo with that boat in his pond. That lojo then had to pay to be removed. Kinda put a damper in their friendship I'm afraid. Don't think lojo has hard feelings. Just not gonna be running to fish with him 😊

We have a shit ton of DG’s in FL as well we do get cleaning supplies there but never seen fishing stuff. 👍

After your experience with "high quality" DG fishing gear I was about to discourage the idea of ANY type of camping with what could be more similar quality gear, until you said your own back yard island. At least if anything happened there you'd be close to home. Looking forward to the final installment of your pond update!

Bluegill’s are fun fish, hey bro don’t want to sound like a ninny but PLEASE be careful of backwaters, I just spent close to a week in the hospital with cellulitis bacteria infection, a rub blister turned bad… So just to pass on advice from my doctor…Iodine is one of the best antibiotics that doesn’t hurt the tissue… I keep a bottle in my gear from now on

The dollar stores in my area "dollarama" carry fishing gear as well including googan rattling Ned the clutch, some lunker hunt, net baits an a few other brands

The North also has infestation of Dollar General but I haven't seen fishing gear yet.
Here in alberta canada, we have a place called dollarama, which happens to have some googan baits, but it's mostly crank-baits, click-baits, & spinners.
I love finding cool lures at the Dollarama. Also from Alberta

you will have to do a dollar general vs dollarama challenge. The dollaramas in canada even sell googan baits now too and get other brand names aswell.

That’s hilarious. I have 2 dollar generals and a dg market within 5 miles of my house here in dinktown USA aka Princess Anne MD.
Bro! As you mentioned, definitely be careful wading in some areas. A few years ago I wade fished a lake and had gotten into an area of some stagnant water. As a result I ended up with Cellulitis below the knee on my left leg and was hospitalized for 7 days. It was one of the most painful experiences I have ever had. Now I gladly wear chest waders if wading 😉.

U know being that it was a $15 dollar rod and reel combo its not bad but id love to see you try the ugly stick dock runner from walmart
I picked one up about a month ago to throw in my jeep for ponds and stuff
I restrung it with some 10lb fluro and i actually like it its a pretty fun rod for crappie and the occasional small bass

The corporation of dollar general want stores every three to 7 miles away from one another up here in the northern states we have them in almost every little town and some ahve multiply as well crazy to think I worked there before they had all the surprise stores popping up

I’m from Spartanburg sc and my uncle he 835 acre deer hunting land basically a farm in shorter Alabama man to get to civilization you have to drive to Montgomery or auburn and both are about 25-30 minutes away downtown is small cannon campground cowpens are I stay compared to shorter makes my area look like Atlanta but I love down there I met all of 6 police officers
