I expect delusion from some of our fellow citizens but I cannot believe they watched Wild Youth's performance and still thought it was external factors that stopped us and not the song or any of the creative choices that were made, I was also at semi 1 live and had a great time too glad you had a good one, great vid as always

Sorry for your NQ, even though it was expected. Yes the delusion from some Irish people has been baffling. We kind of expect delusion from Spain or Sweden, since they/we* usually do it. But to get it from Ireland felt a bit strange. I guess we will get a 10+ year NQ streak from Ireland now, since they won't change anything for the better. (*I say "we" since I'm Swedish, and I'm frequently rolling my eyes at my tone-deaf country-people).

Totally agree..... most people I soke with accepted this as NQ as soon as the Late Late Show had finished. Song just not up to modern ESC standards. Conor's jumpsuit an odd choice too, but nothing could have dragged this up to qualifying.

I was blown away by Latvia's performance, and so sad it didn't qualify. I saw a lot of people in the Finnish esc forum saying how much they liked it. I didn't get the beauty of Aijā from the official video, but it moved me deeply live. I did think having Serbia and Latvia next to eachother might mean a bad outcome for one of them, since they had a similar theme, yet the opposite message - Luke Black was kind of trying to wake up people who want to sleep forever, while Sudden Lights tried to help them sleep with a lullaby. My vote didn't save Latvia, so now I'm fully rooting for Serbia to get the vocal stuff in order for the final, because the song is great.
I usually just vote for one song, once, each year, but I noticed how happy Azerbaijan's song made me, so I voted for them, too. Those boys looked so sweet and innocent on stage. Even if they didn't qualify, this was, in my opinion, so much better than the generic stuff they usually send.
It'll be interesting to see how the votes get divided between all the vocally powerful songs in the final. I feel Sweden, Norway, Spain, Portugal and France, are all competing for the same votes. Switzerland and Italy, too. If they "cancel" eachother out, maybe a green boy from Finland has a chance - or a group of older guys in not so tighty whities. 💚💚💚

Getting rid of the juries was a great decision. Can you imagine all the non-qualifier streaks that could be broken if only they would get rid of the disgusting, not-biased-in-any-way allocation system. I'm certain Malta could've qualified from a prime position that was reserved for certain types of "moods and color schemes".

With all performances after Luke the audio was much better, as if they found the issue and quickly fixed something. Therefore, I don't think it's going to be a problem for Kaarija, or any of the other acts if the sound a bit breathy. Despite the sound being sort of bad (at least on my tv) you could still hear the intensity of the crowd screming cha cha cha, which was very powerfull even on screen.

    Finland 1.1 million

Sweden and Finland both obviously killed it. It's very obvious they should be the heavy frontrunners at the moment, which they are a considering I believe they combine for 70% of the betting odds to win right now.
I think the audience reactions to Austria and Slovenia will be very informative to me of their chances to win, especially if either pull second half given both Sweden and Finland are in the first half. If those two can really perform and really nail it I think they will definitely be contenders to win, as they are theoretically already.

Baffled why Finland has gone down a little in the odds after semifinal, would expect the opposite, as it was clearly the crowd favourite! I could hear everybody rather well, but I bought a new very pricey TV only last month, so maybe it has some option to sort the sound. Serbia is my favourite this year and it sounded great, though I thought the camera work was really shoddy and was not on par with the final in Belgrade. My heart breaks out for Latvia, and I had them as fifth overall, but did think the staging let them down massively and would be the reason they wouldn't qualify.
Finland I also like, but keep getting frustrated with the second part of the song, why did they turn a great song into Eurovision pop in the second half, I'll never know. Though I suppose softening it will bring them votes.
Loreen was very professional and is an awesome performer, except that I can't understand a word she is singing. Her staging, same as Serbia, was also not as good as in the national finals.
Croatia had great staging and it took me by surprise as I didn't like them until this semi. I am slightly worried that Finland, Croatia, Serbia and Germany votes will split in televoting. Israel was a bit off-key in certain areas (actually, most singers were a bit off-key in some parts of their songs, or so my TV sounded).
Ireland, I don't know what Ireland thinks it's doing. This sounded like rather poor U2 cover. The lyrics, supposedly safe, do not work. Eimear Quinn's song would still wipe the floor with anything Ireland is sending these days. You have to have something better than "we are one". If you want to go glam, you have to go with something like Maneskin. If you want electro/rock, you have to go with something like Serbia or Finland and have some message. If you want a pop song with no message, you need a catchy tune and a performer that really milks it dry, like Loreen or UK this year.

It's the general public/ media/ RTE who are delusional - resting on the laurels of our 90s heyday - don't seem to understand that the ESC has moved on.

Hey Tom, I think that if you want to talk about Croatia damaging other acts’ televote potential I actually think we’re looking at it the wrong way: for instance we’re assuming that Käärijä is winning the televote right? If that’s the case and we also think that Croatia may compete to get along with Finland a lot of those 10 or 12 points, then doesn’t that actually damage other songs? Because then if Finland and Croatia end up taking most of the high 10s and 12s then there this more competition and less 10s and 12s available for other acts like Sweden or Austria
