Nobody ever gives Baltimore much. Nobody ever gives Baltimoreans anything. They fight for what they have and what they want. Ray made Baltimore proud when he played. He embodied the city at times. Nobody there will ever forget him.

Dutchie here, but one that really loves American football (also regular football though). Been watching it for over 20 years, and I've been watching the Super Bowl live since 2001, which was when Ray Lewis won his first (of two) Super Bowl with the Ravens and became SB MVP. I've been hooked ever since, haven't missed a live Super Bowl from that moment. In his very last NFL game he won his second Super Bowl 12 years later, a dream ending I'd say
The Ravens (only team Ray ever played for) isn't my favorite team (#BroncosCountry), but Ray always had such an impact on the games he played in, he was really special to watch. It wasn't just his physical impact, he was a beast, but he was amazing at reading the game and knowing where to go because of it

One of my high school football coaches friend, was a scout team Receiver for the Baltimore Ravens when Ray played for them. He told us the story of his buddy running a slant route across the middle and after he caught the ball he turned to look up field and saw Ray. His buddy said that Ray hit him so hard he didn’t want to play football anymore!!!!

The man was a monster. He was a true stopper. Offenses never got over on Ray Lewis. Simply said, the 2 greatest linebackers in the NFL, all time, were Lawrence Taylor of the Giants, and Ray Lewis of the Ravens.
They were both a thing of beauty.

    GOAT line backer!
I had the joy and privilege to see him play a few times. One of the best was that chargers game towards the end of the video. A chill filled the stadium when he went unblocked and smothered the back for a loss! EPIC
Another goat that played for the Ravens: Ed Reed GOAT safety.
Both of them are in the hall of fame now.

Opposing teams set there game plans up to avoid Ray Lewis and even with that he would still dominate. He had an uncanny ability to know where the ball would be and would beat the ball to that spot no matter where it was. He could read plays better than most and would call out to his teammate's what was coming even before the ball was snapped. He had an understanding of the game better than most.

  • @Raziell28

Ray Lewis was an intense person, impactful on the field with how aggressive he is but also when he speaks, you feel motivated just from anything he does and says, you also fear him for those same reasons. Truly a one of a kind person both on and off the field.

The game they lost to the Patriots was the game before the superbowl in the previous year where they lost due to a missed field goal. Ray, the following year, unfortunately suffered a torn bicep where he completely tore the bicep from the bone. He notified the team that this would be his last year in the NFL. He wore a brace the remainder of the season and playoffs and the Ravens completed one of the best Super Bowl runs in NFL history to win Ray his 2nd championship in his last ever game. To go to show how amazing the guys around him played, the Quarterback Joe Flacco through 4 Playoff games (Super bowl included) threw for 1140 yards, 11 TDs and 0 interceptions. The greatest QB playoff run ever. The blew out the Chargers in game 1 at home, then went to Denver Colorado to beat the Broncos in a game that became known as the Mile High miracle which is one of the highest scoring playoff games ever and came down to a double overtime game sealing field goal by a rookie named “Justin Tucker” who turned out to be the greatest kicker in the history of the sport. They traveled back to New England in game 3 of the playoff where the absolutely obliterated the team that sent them home in heart break the previous season. And to finish it off, one of the craziest superbowls ever where there was a record breaking kick return by Jacoby Jones 109 yards for a TD, halfway through the game the entire arena lost power allowed for the 49ers to make a comeback and where a rookie ravens Cornerback and future legend Jimmy Smith made the final stand on 4th and goal to win Ray his 2nd and final championship in his last ever game.

Please react to "Barry Sanders - Top 50 Ridiculous Plays". He was a running back that could turn on a dime. And when he scored a touchdown, he never celebrated or spiked the ball, he just handed the ball to the referee. It was like no big thing, I will score again.

So for some context: The loss to the Patriots that they showed was in 2011/12 season to go to the Super Bowl. The Ravens made it BACK through the playoffs to play the Patriots AGAIN in New England in 2012/13 in that same game and won to then go on to win this Super Bowl. Absolute unbelievable mentality and fortitude that team showed.

One of the reasons for the gap in Super Bowl wins is the Ravens just couldn’t get the QB spot right. They cycled through a few during that span

  • @Nick--69

That loss to the Patriots was the 2011 season. A win there would've sent the Ravens to the Super Bowl. Prior to the start of the playoffs in the 2012 season Ray Lewis announced his "last ride". The Ravens won all of their playoff games, including a rematch of the conference championship against the Patriots. Then they beat the 49ers in the Super Bowl, Ray's last game.

  • @ronluk76
    @ronluk76 Před 9 měsíci +1

Tom Brady is the GOAT in terms of quarterback. In football, players are specialized by position. Unlike football, baseball and basketball players play both offense and defense. In football there only offensive players and defensive players. So in football, you can only be GOAT in your position really. There is no one GOAT player in football.

He was a good player but he did get in trouble with the law in Atlanta, 2000.
My friend just told me that Lewis was given 1 yr probation for obstruction of justice. Many felt he got away with it. He & 2 friends got into a fight with others after a Super Bowl party. 2 of the others were stabbed to death. Lewis's white suit that he was wearing at the party was never found & one of the deceased's blood was in Lewis's car. No one will ever really know. But Lewis did reach an out of court settlement with the little daughter of one of the guys & a undisclosed arrangement with the other family. I got most of this from Wikipedia.
