    Thank you So much for the best advice I have had for optimal Pleco breeding and keeping, PH and water condition. I am so happy to have learned from you that eggs develop better in softer water as it's long been an unanswered question of mine.
    My water ranges from a PH of 6.8 to 7.2 so I will not let it get over 7.0 again
    Thank you Yiriy

    It breeds in tap water or in normal water. Slightly alkaline water is also suitable. Keep things simple@!!

    Hi pleco caramics, First thanks you for all that awesome content you provide! I have a question due to the video above. I want to know it the tds are not so important vs the ph. For example, when I have a tds around 63 my waters ph is 8 😱 I have to drop the tds to aprox 30-33ish before i hit 7,0 ph. So what would you guys recommand for me to use? Thanks very much in advance

    • @plecoceramics
      @plecoceramics  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes you did everything correct. You checked the TDS ( in your case its 33ppm) in which you have appropriate pH7,0. And then when you do your water changes you should stick to TDS 33ppm, under this conditions you will get pH 7,0. Actually in you case i reccomend to check pH within a week, to make sure if your pH is stabilize.

    What is your opinion on using Shrimp soil Substrate to buffer RO water? I believe many German breeders use this, what Is the KH of your water?

    in water parameters what level of carbonate hardness is best?

  • @LeahhJett
    @LeahhJett Před 3 lety

    Thank you for the great information! I realize that you are a breeding facility, so bare bottom tanks are much easier for business. But for a home what type of substrate would be recommended for L046 and other Rio Xingu species?

    • @plecoceramics
      @plecoceramics  Před 3 lety +1

      You can also use 1-2 cm layer of sand. Its a good substrate for plecos. We find that sand with dimensions of pieces around 1-2mm is the best option

    If your parameters are good, how do you trigger the fish to spawn?

    • @plecoceramics
      @plecoceramics  Před 3 lety +1

      The main thing which we descibed in our article "The basics of promoting fish maturation and spawning" is that there are a lot of factors which influence spawning. Meine osmoserwesser ist 5 Ms Ph 4.5, aber wenn ich leitungswasser dazugeben bis 100 Ms, Ph bleibt 6.2. ☹️

    • @plecoceramics
      @plecoceramics  Před 3 lety +1

      So its even easy for you, you should add something which can increase a bit your carbonate hardness, coral chips you can find it in pet store. Anyway you are lucky cause your Tap water is almost Amazonian water. )

      We keep fry in the same water within a month or a bit more. And them when we move them to another tank, we use their a tap water. Cause commonly our customers use tap water for keeping fry.
