    Great information! Do you only use a sponge filter, no external filter? How many zebra plecos do you have in the tank? Thanks for the great video!

    • @SerendibAquatics
      @SerendibAquatics  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Only sponge filter with good flow rate air pump. 8 zebras were there in that tank. 3 another zebra were another my main comunity tank. They are perfectly well other than 1 episode of itch for all 8. Never use any other filter. I think the basis behind my tank is maintain good nitrogen cycle in the tank with all aspects. Thus tank will balance every time naturaly. I also not doing any drastic changes. All changes are according to slow methods.
      Thank you.

    extra tip for breeders buy a barometre and when the airpressure drops do a waterchange .
    do not know if barometre is correct english but it is adevice that measures the air pressure
    good that you also keep some algae in your tank

    • @SerendibAquatics
      @SerendibAquatics  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes.Barometere is the equipment for measure the atomospheric pressure.

    How are your cherry shrimp still alive at such high temperatures? Mine - despite very gradual- weeks long - process of raising temp still start to die once 28 degrees is reached

    • @SerendibAquatics
      @SerendibAquatics  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Brother when we take about shrimps caridina shrimp varities are the shrimps very sensitive for the high temperature. Compair to the caridina shrimps neocaridina shrimps ( cherry shrimps etc) are well stablished for bit high temperatures. Garadual raised my tank temperature at 31 celcius when my zebra get itch disease. Still at that temperature also they are healthy and doing well. I will put that vedeo also as a education vedeo of " how to treat white spots " .
      But all shrimps are very sensitive to acute changes of water chemistry. Therefore there will be another cause most probably there in your tank which kill cherry shrimp. Keep eye on ammonia levels in your tank.
      They are well in 31 celcius also.

      @@SerendibAquatics thanks brother, ill try again moving slower this time - currently i have some acclimatized up to 26 degrees in my Venezuela corydora tank and doing well ; will take a group of those and try again gradually to higher temp of 28 in another tank setup for zebra plecos in preparation to buy a zebra pleco breeding colony. Thank you.

    • @SerendibAquatics
      @SerendibAquatics  Před 6 měsíci +1

      When you put shrimps 1st do the temperature acclimation. Atleast 1 hour. Then do the drip acclimation. Following you put your shrimps into a tank. Leave them atleast 1 week for used to that setup. Then only if you want you can increase the temperature again. I alredy keeping them in 22 celcius also coz one of my galaxy rasbora breesing tank is around 22 celcius. In there also they are doing well.

    What’s the number L46 about?

    Will shrimp die due to cold water changes to stimulate the zebra plecos into breeding?

    • @SerendibAquatics
      @SerendibAquatics  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Here in my setup no recorded death due to water changes.
      But shrimp will get stressed.
      With good aeration they will ok after one to two hours later.

      @@SerendibAquatics Also, is hard water not recommended for breeding the zebra plecos? Someone told me that there's a higher chance of the eggs not being fertile and breaking out of the egg. My gh is 14. Unfortunately I don't have ro water. Is there something else I could use to lower the hardness of water?

    • @SerendibAquatics
      @SerendibAquatics  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Water quality is the matter when we use any other methods. I did not try any chemicles.
      But we can made RO water.
      Coolect the evaporated part of steam water and it will have low TDS value. ( i never used )
      If your area have vehicle battery shops. That shop have some battery water. Pure H2O. It also RO.
      ( i used them )
      You can collect rain water. It also have low TDS
      ( but acidic PH due to CO2 desolve. I never used)
      Above 3 methods can use for take low hardness water. But the problem is they should be nutral Ph value. You should check other parameters before put into L46. L 46 are very sensitive for drasticle changers of the water parameters. Keep it in mind.

      @@SerendibAquatics I've had my zebras in my tank for a couple months (7-8). Every time I do a water change, I make sure to have the ph neutral because my tap is usually 7.6 and I lower it to 7.0-7.2 and I try to make my parameters as stable as possible. The problem with getting RO water or softer water is I need a lot of it. And without a source in my house it's hard to keep going back and forth to get the water. If I have no other choice I may invest in an RO water system, but it would be my last resort.

    • @SerendibAquatics
      @SerendibAquatics  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yes. Some people got eggs without any stimulations. With the time and temperature changes. They will spawn. Also We want much more luck here. In your situation i would like to suggest awaiting untill they get fully matured and with temperture drop in rainy seasone will see what happen. Then descide to go ahead with last option.
      Good luck ! Your dedication will lead to your success brother.
