    You would think Paleontology is a pretty dead field; it will never lead anywhere, but it's surprising how much we learn about a wide variety of things.

    The fossil formations I am interested in right now are The Hell Creek Formation, Dinosaur Park Formation, Niobarra Formation and Nemegt Formation because they deposit Tyrannosaur, Dromeosaur, Oviraptorosaur, Ornithomind, Titanosaur, Ceratopisan, Hardosaur, Anklyosaur, pterosaur, Hespronis, ammonite, shark, bony fish, mosasaur and plesiosaur fossils.

    Are there any devices that can scan the sedimentary rock and identify structures that could be fossils rather than rock?

    • @AmericanMuseumofNaturalHistory
      @AmericanMuseumofNaturalHistory  Před 5 lety +5

      While some technology for this exists, most paleontologists don't use it because fossils can be the same density as the rock around them, and there is too much room for false negatives caused by other things in the soil (especially since a lot of fossils are small). So far, nothing really beats human eyes!

    Dang i just found a bone structure inside a rock on the side of a mountain, was about the size of a small finger and broken, there are multiple such rocks with bones, maybe i go back and search a little.
    The Area is in Germany and i found it about halfway of the "mountain" its maybe just a hill, but the entire area is like those rocks that look like plates on top of plates, the kind you can break easily.
    I guess i do some research on the Area, because im kinda excited to find something cool.

    The rock in my area is Austin chalk (in eastern TX), limestone that was laid during the Cretaceous. I was told so via the Internet, but you can also tell because it’s easy to find aquatic fossils if you seek them out (the area was covered in water at the time)

      It seems from the Video that the Fossils are found close to/ near the Surface. That pretty insane, that we can find Bones of Animals that lived 200 Million years ago, close to the Modern Day Surface.
      It seems like the guy was saying that’s why the type of Surface is important, some surfaces like sand or dirt can increase in depth over time, while other surfaces like rock near Mountains are newly formed.
      The Earth has a recirculating cycle of rock. The rock is formed near faults or mountains and are recirculated by turning back into Magma at the earths depths like under the sea.

    I have four questions about the origin of the universe 14 billion years ago
    1. How will the universe be formed if the shape of the universe is flat?
    2. How will the birth of the universe be if the universe is spherical?
    3. How will the birth of the universe be if the universe is open like a horse's saddle?
    The Big Bang created the universe 14 billion years ago
    But the fourth question is, does the shape of the universe explain what happened before the Big Bang?
    Please send my four questions to cosmologists
    Please post your answer to CZcams and the web browser with new images and videos about the universe

    • @user-te2em4zf5i
      @user-te2em4zf5i Před 3 lety +1

      Usually anatomical/structural differences separate species and similarities amongst genus. Geological localities also play a role as well in defining whether a dinosaur is of a different or undiscovered species.

      Yes, you can if you have the correct geology. Many have been found by amateurs and children. Depending where you live, you may find sea shell fossils, plant and fish fossils, amphibians, reptiles, dinosaur, etc. Some areas will provide you with access to large mammals. Where I live we have carboniferous sea deposits and pleistocene mammals above them as much of the in-between material was eroded away. Good luck and keep looking down.

      @@oldgoatsgarden4897 dang that’s a big time gap. I live in Colorado, so I would really like to go to the Morrison Formation. Ho I did read in a book that said that the fossils there have been subject to uranium substance apparently. Soooooo, idk if that’s safe.

    • @oldgoatsgarden4897
      @oldgoatsgarden4897 Před 2 lety

      @@fishtank1015 in my area much of the newer material was removed by glaciers, to the south east there is some Jurassic, Triassic and Cretaceous material. When I was in Wyoming and in college I did do some work in the Morrison and others, I got to help excavate several long bones and ribs from different dinosaurs as part of a class, it's was in a bone bed and they were mixture of a couple of different species. You may want to check with a local community college geology department if you are close to one and see if you can volunteer if they are doing a dig, sometimes they will welcome volunteers or offer introductory classes and such for the public as a way to increase interest.
