Behind the Scenes in a Dinosaur Fossil Laboratory
Paleontologists may use hammers and chisels to extract dinosaur fossils from the Earth, but once the fossils arrive in the lab, scientists turn to newer technology like CT scanning to unlock their mysteries.

In this video, paleontology curator Roger Benson and museum specialist Carl Mehling take you behind the scenes in a fossil laboratory to demonstrate how scientists use technology and preparation techniques to describe dinosaur species, as well as other fossil organisms like plants and mammals. Watch to see some of the recent discoveries from the Museum’s expeditions to the American West and the Morrison Formation.

When and where is the next total solar eclipse? Total solar eclipses don’t happen at the same time or the same place regularly, due to the 5-degree offset between the Moon’s orbit around the Earth and the Earth’s orbit around the Sun. But if you’re curious if a future total eclipse will be viewable from your backyard, you can see all the total solar eclipses forecasted for the next 20 years in ...

Astronomer Jackie Faherty explains what you’ll see, why it happens, and whether Earth is the only planet that encounters this unforgettable cosmic event. #Eclipse2024 #TotalSolarEclipse #GreatAmericanEclipse On April 8, 2024, a wide stretch of the U.S. will be in the path of totality, similarly t...
Where are All the Tiny Dinosaurs?

A dinosaur as small as a mouse-pretty hard to imagine, right? That might be because most of the dinosaurs we know and love-T.rex, Apatosaurus, Triceratops-are all huge. Or it could be because tiny dinosaurs simply didn’t exist. #dinosaur #paleontology #museum Join paleontologist Roger Benson at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City to find out about the biggest and smallest kn...

Paleontologists dig for Jurassic dinosaur fossils

The Morrison Formation is one of the most famous dinosaur fossil sites in North America. Since the 1890s, it has been the site of discoveries such as Stegosaurus, Apatosaurus, and Allosaurus. But there’s more to be uncovered. In 19th century, expeditions to the Morrison Foundation focused on the fossil remains of large animals, but today scientists are searching for fossils of species that were...

Oh boy grabbing a coke and kick back. Real...
So glad I took phycology. Showed me the importance of who and why people are the way they are. Also helped me understand myself and my childhood upbringing traumas.
As a lifelong fossil collector and enthusiast, I have yet to see a single, validated “transitional form” fossil. Many top world class paleontologists have abandoned Darwinian evolution as a viable theory, however they want the grant money and peer acceptance, so they still refuse to consider “Intelligent Design”.
No human race has ever corrupted or exhausted a land and controlled it completely except Homo sapiens If you agree with me, put the like button. Thank you. I am from Algeria 🇩🇿❤🙂
It is sad that all hominids have become extinct and only rational humans remain
This is the truth about man and how he appeared, and the way to know the origin of our human race is with knowledge, away from myths and religions. Then you will find the story of Adam unreal and false and not even suitable for a bedtime story.

As a molecular biology and genetics student, I still can’t believe there are people who think evolution and religion contradict eachother

The begin is not correct, humans were in all africa at the begin. Jebel Irhoud, the oldest fossil of homo sapiens, was found in the actual Morocco.

Only humans would tell the universe how it SHOULD work 😂 A million years from now, future scientists will look at current scientists the same way we look at those who thought the earth was flat. And yet, it's still fascinating each new discovery we make and therefore we should not allow these mistakes to discourage us. Just keep that mind open and never be afraid to question. It's how we learn and grow. If the big bang, as taught, is real, and heavy metals require something big and powerful, like a supernova, then how much bigger do you need than the big bang? The big bang, if real, should have left the original black hole, and a super mega massive mother of all black holes. Otherwise, if the big bang exploded with nothing left, then it would challenge our current model of how stars die. Furthermore, it would be the path to confirm or debunk the big bang theory. We need to look for the central universal black hole. This is what Neal does so well, challenging today's science and leaving his audience understanding that so much more is yet to be discovered, while teaching us what we do currently know or think.
Back in my elementary school days, the population was 5 billion people. Now, just 30 years later, we've reached 8 billion. What rapid growth! Looking at the map, it's clear that at some point we'll have to deal with the need for expansion of the Chinese and Indian populations, who might start by dominating the steppes, while Africans could expand into the desert.
An awesome and amazing work! Just like I was looking for. I spent 16 minutes watching the video I enjoyed it, pausing and rewinding to understand it better. It would be interesting to add the names instead of faces at the end of the tree to determine who the closest relatives are. I deduce that they are the Neanderthals and Denisovans. Otherwise, excellent
I was fascinated by almost everything Priya had to say. It does not surprise me at all that she has dedicated herself to the understanding of both Dark Matter and Dark Energy. One can only imagine what it takes to embark on such a pursuit, when the possibility of a resolution may not be forthcoming in one's own lifetime. Priya's closing comment about AI augmenting our intelligence rather than thinking for us, was also somewhat reassuring.
Paraphrasing the debate, "scientists agree that the age of universe is between 13 and 14 billion years"
I like this video its interestyng
Birds supposedly have reptilian ancestors....please tell me facts that support a) solid bones became hollow, b) cold blooded became warm blooded, c) two legs became wings; d) two legs became perching feet e) the bellows lung respiratory system evolved into the complex lung/air sac and cross flow system, f) how poor eye sight became elite eyesight, g) how the soft leathery eggs became hard bird eggs; h) how immobile reptiles evolved the ability to migrate thousands of miles) i) how burrowing reptiles evolved the ability to build a nest j) how scales evolved into feathers. Thank you I look forward to your science answers!
