You know I don't mind that they're not packed full of neutrals and transition shades. Neutral palettes are a dime a dozen. The person buying these palettes is not a beginner and is certainly a collector. You can pair them with any matte neutral palette. Who says you have to use only the palette in question. Im excited by the minis!!!
Me neither. If I looked for those things in every palette I'd have so many duplicates! I am too.. In particular I'm interested in the purple/pink one but then I have the Lila palette so feel like I have all the shades. Still.. the heart wants what the heart wants haha.
Melissa Gold. I'm so in love with Linda Halberg but the products are also pricey but worth it. As for Natasha Denona trying to justify suddenly charging by volume versus weight...I quickly got over her. It's funny how a single person can tarnish the brand. It seems her brand is suddenly focused on mass producing nonsense like too-faced. The mothership IV palette looks like it may put a dent in my savings. I try to be good! Im waiting on my Venus XL palette and the Nabla palette whose name I cant recall. The one that recently restocked...
Fiercely Me My review of the LH palettes will be up next 😊 I did find that strange regarding the ND palette weight. Apparently in the PR media kit 2.5g was what was stated however the packaging stating 1.5g seems to contradict. I was actually lusting after the new palette but now I'm thinking twice.. I did end up picking up the Decadence palette and I love it. I actually prefer the PML palettes over ND and I tend to use them more often.

I’m so surprised to hear your initial thoughts on these palettes because I found your channel years ago because I was impressed with your use of colorful indie palettes, which I have been intimidated by. Your fearlessness in using colors and textures, even with your hairstyles is what d res me in, and I would’ve thought you’d have been drawn to these from day one. The looks you’ve created are phenomenal. You are very talented.
Oh thank you so much! I wish I could go back to this hair colour but alas my profession wouldn't allow. Admittedly the pandemic has curtailed my love of putting a full face as I'm still masked and my skin doesn't get along with a makeup & mask combo so I keep it minimal. At least I can reminisce when I see these videos. Thank you for your kind comment 😘

They are sooo amazing and you did great looks with them I don't think that's expensive instead of buying 10 of 12 dollars bad eye shadows that may or may not work I prefer them hugely

Such lovely, wearable, uncomplicated looks. You’re so right about sticking with what works for you. When I try to make my eye looks too fancy, I don’t like how they turn out, nor do I look like myself. I love a smokey eye, it’s really attractive & easy to achieve no matter what colors/finish you use.

I absolutely adore this video. It’s flawlessly done IMO. You do a fantastic job explaining the shadows and dupes. I purchased the 3 palettes and am considering the 4th. I’d love to know your thoughts on the 4th palette.
Thanks so much! I'm still on the fence about getting it. If it's permanent I might wait for more reviews before I make the plunge as they are all satin/pearl textures and I prefer her duochromes and it doesn't contain any of those sadly!
I love these shadows! I definitely found that using your fingers to apply the metallic/ foil colors, works best. You get more of a pay off. Plus it's the way Pat McGrath applies makeup! Great video!

This is such a great and helpful video Melissa. I've watched it several times as I'm debating whether to get them or not! I have so many palettes already but these do look pretty unique.... so I don't know.... aargh, decisions decisions 😀

Would you consider doing a review of the Love Game palette from Nars? I’m finding it difficult to find anything worthwhile and I feel like you would make something quite creative with the shadows. 🖤
This was the slowest response ever - sorry I didn't see your comment :-/ Thanks so much. I will tag you in the comments if I ever do it -- at the moment it's not in the works but I definitely need to play around with it some more. It was featured briefly in my project 10 wears with the Linda Hallberg palettes (look 1) although it wasn't the most exciting look ever.
I find that if you are medium to dark skinned, the PMG mattes are enough for transition shades. But for light to fair skinned, the mattes come to dark so they are ideal for contouring shades. This is not a problem for me since I usually use my Viseart mattes with PMG, and I’m happy with the results. But you are right, if you use a Smokey eye method, you do not need to use other palettes. As for my glitter base, I use two faced glitter glue since I have hooded eyes.

I love this video. It s very informative! I appreciate all the hard work! It helped me a lot! I own Mothership VIII: Divine Rose II. But I still want Mothership I: Subliminal & Mothership V: Bronze Seduction. I also wish that she would put her "special shades" ESPECIALLY her DUOCHROMES in singles... Hopefully one day!

Update: Now that I have reached the end of the video, I will answer your question. In spite of the heafty price tag, I am really tempted to get all three of them. I will, however, have to get them from the Pat McGrath website because of the bundle discount. I am from Canada so I will also have to go through customs. Fingers crossed.

Do you think the MCGrath shadows are worth the price to pay when there are companies like Colored Raine?
They're both amazing BOM brands but their offerings are quite different so hard to compare their "worth". There's nothing quite like the PML duochrome eyeshadows in terms of shade and texture which is really what makes these palettes so unique (as you can see they were extremely difficult to dupe using eyeshadows from my collection!). I love Coloured Raine metallic eyeshadows though - in my opinion, some of the best! The way I see it, if you want colourful, super foiled eyeshadows which are mid-range in terms of price go for Coloured Raine. If you want to achieve a shimmery, dual chromatic smokey eye and want to splurge, go for Pat McGrath.

love your video, and im agree, i did buy all the palettes and they re amazing, thnk you so much for the nice video, sorry it took so long to arrive to australia, in switzerland arrived fast but i think the infrastructure in switzerland is very performant
yes perfect for smoky eyes, and im pretty sure you got a nude matte palett on your vanity if necessary, and try also grapic looks with these shades, wet, they re amazing

Enchanted Lustre (on etsy) sell some gorgeous looking duochromes as singles. I've yet to try them but some of them look like potential dupes!
Melissa Gold thanks for the info! It seems that the hush dupes work pretty well too. Or maybe find someone who sells them second hand (kinda hard here in France) ;’) the small 6 pans look neat too.

Not sure if I'll do a dedicated review since I feel there are so many out there already that I don't know if I have anything to add. I do love it - quality is as good as the previous so I think it just comes down to which colour combo you like best!

Melissa these shades work very well that way you did use them in this video, but i did try them also for graphic makeup, they re stunning, of course graphic is only fo evening

The green one is definitely my personal favourite...ah, I don't know if I have it in me to pay 125$ (plus shipping + customs) for it though. I really like she's doing smaller palettes now, so perhaps I'll wait for one of those to try the shadow formula. I am hoping for something in a smaller format with delicious metallics and duochromes!!!
Yeah the price is definitely a deterrent. I feel like for $125 they could at least absorb the cost for shipping internationally. I also like the direction she's going in with smaller palettes so people can at least try her formula and decide if they want to jump in to the bigger ones. A smaller one with those duochromes would be AWESOME! :-D
i did get them really fast to switzerland, and i think they re stunning, if i pay 90$ for a dior quint i can pay 125$ for a pat mcgrath palett, the shades are amazing, i di order them all and i do not regret
I think for an independent brand the pricing may be considered pretty high but yes compared to luxury brands like Dior, Tom Ford, it does seem like a better deal!

I just discovered your channel and I love it so I subscribed! I really like the way you make up your eyes. I ordered the PMG pallets including the last Mothership V. Do you think you want to make the tutorials of all your makeup with the pallettes (10 look with a palette)? In this video you only watch one tutorial are the others in another video? Merci beaucoup! Je suis heureuse que vous l'appréciez (pardon my French - it's very rusty so the rest will be in English!!). I hope you enjoy your palettes when they arrive. I probably won't have time to do a 10 looks 1 palette any time soon but with the tutorial here you can substitute it with other shades the palette because I do the same technique to achieve all the looks I did. So first starting with the black as a base, then add the lighter matte shade to transition and then on top of that I use a metallic shade. I will try and do a few with the mothership V once I play with it some more! Also, aka stands for "also known as" :-)

i wanted all the pat mcgrath palettes but the subliminal was sold out long time at pat official, then i decided to order at sephora USA, for me difficult, im living in switzerland, but i do shopping with an official forwarding company in the US, i placed my order at sephora,they confirmed the order, after few days i dintt get any shipment advice, i went to see my order and it was canceled, so i phoned to customercare in US asking what happened, they told me in rather rude way they do not send to forwarding companies, i said ok but why didnt you email this?,, so i i got email from pat official, restock alert, i ordered the palett is now on its way to switzerland,i canceled the payment to sephora and never again sephora

On a bare lid it does unfortunately so I need to use a glitter glue with these to prevent creasing!
