  • This video covers how to install a fully off grid & on grid camper van electrical system. I will cover all the basics around the 230v side of the distribution and also the 12v side. The system demonstrates three methods of charging the leisure batteries; via the VSR, solar charge controller & 12v battery charger for when on hook up. There will be more videos to follow so please don't forget to subscribe if you're interested.

    I love watching the series, really brings things to life 👍 can you advise the best insulation method for the overcab section please? I have some moisture issues in this area and am not sure how to resolve. Cheers

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you! 😊I’m not an expert on the condensation issue as I’m just trialing the vapour barrier method myself. But If you can’t insulate and vapour barrier that area then ventilation in that section is key to reducing the condensation. If it’s a cupboard like mine you could perhaps put some vents in it to allow the air to flow through or even a small 12v fan perhaps to help push the air through. And try to limit how much stuff is stored in that space as it will stop the air flowing.

    Hi i really enjoyed watching your build and have learned a lot for my own. A quick question. What size fuses are you using around your main isolator. My set up is pretty much identical to yours in a sense of power and draw to the equipment. Thanks

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  Před 3 měsíci

      Hey, thanks for watching. It will depend on the size cable you are using to the fuse box and the maximum current draw of all your circuits?

  • @Unnter
    @Unnter Před 11 měsíci

    Nice work. What size cable are you using for the solar panels. I'm putting 525w solar, but I've been advised that 4mm squared cable is enough.

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thank you! I have used 6mm as I would rather over-spec. With 524w/12v the maximum current will be 42.75amps. That’s if the panels were 100% efficient, which they aren’t. 6mm cable is rated for 50amps. Also the thicker the cable the less resistance and the more efficient the system will be 😊

    Great video again!! I baught a 1997 transit 2.5 turbo with bosh pump and my max revs are 3000 rpm any ideas?

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks mate, check the throttle cable isn’t getting caught under the bonnet. If that’s not the issue it could be that you need to adjust the fuel pump max fuel screw so the throttle opens up more. Careful not to over do it though. Where does it sit at idle?

    • @Silivistras
      @Silivistras Před 2 lety

      @@TurnersWorkshop97 about 900 rpm

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  Před 2 lety +1

      That’s about right for the idle, I’ve had the cable get caught on the part that holds it in place under the Bonet before. Stopped the cable operating all the way.

    16:18 What's the hook up outside the van? Is it the brand Noco or you just DIY using industrial 30 amps socket?

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
