Madara was trying to stop the cycle of hatred by capturing all tailed beasts and launching the moons eye plan. The death scenes represent the pain and suffering in the ninja world and he was willing to be revived just to fight and spare children like naruto from having to grow up like him.

This ED has always felt like a love letter to fans that took note of all the lore and world-building added over the course of the series. The montage of nearly every major death or tragedy from shinobi history perfectly illustrates what Madara considers Hashirama's "failed" world, and why he wants to replace it. And since we as the audience have bore witness to each of those events, we can better understand his motivation.

1:00 love the symbolism of the leaf breaking as madara sees all the major deaths, implying the failings of hasirama's system and it must be shattered.
Actualy the leaf breaking is a reference to Hashirama flashback when he tells to Sasuke about the village, the part where Hashirama speaks with Tobirama about the first Hokage

@@guylers I always get the sense that what’s going through his head in that moment is “I’ll fix it” Madara may have also had many impure motivations for what he did but mixed in with them was a deep seated sense of personal responsibility for how the world turned out under his and Hashirama’s one village per country system

The thing is that even with 1 common enemy, war will never end in Naruto universe. Kawaki's scene is a great example of it.

@@dytgyfgyffuh243 Madara was right in the sense that Hashirama's system was flawed, but his own system was also flawed. the table said as much, they needed to work together and implant a system together for it to work but Tobirama pretty much ruined it by not trusting Madara.

The fact that Madara didn’t do all of that to rule the world or anything. He just literally wanted peace- in his own convoluted way. Which is honestly amazing by the creator because he in fact wasn’t really a villain. He was very much chaotic good.
In a way, he scared everyone so good that the great villages are now closer than ever in Boruto.

I think the ending of the anime series told us that happiness is only experienced because of sadness and humans can't live without either of them. That's what is called being alive. Birth, love, breakup, death all these we must learn to accept most of the villans in Naruto failed to do that(due to various circumstances) which led to them doing what they did.

The high pitched voice and the light tone of the ED perfectly mirrors a dream madara has had since his childhood. But then its also contradicts the deaths and horrors that come w war, and makes it almost creepy. This ending is honestly RLY well done

Ehh, if he gave up on the world he would have just went and died, in fact he actually tried to save the world instead of just outright leaving it, which is what people would usually do in his shoes
How raw would it have been if Madara was like "I know how you feel more than anyone, Naruto." It cuts to swing-kun again with Naruto on it and Madara is just an old man in the tree line watching him feeling bad for him.

I always believed that the images that were shown, of war, despair, and losing those you love is how Madara sees the world, nothing but chaos and death and how he must save this world in order to prevent such tragedies. And the second half shows Madara in the center of a battle, where he faces off against an entire army, showing him like a hero fighting for the world against those who wish to see it suffer. I know he's basically delusional to think such things, but it doesn't stop him from being interesting to watch and listen to
