The round is still affordable and considering that you get a 9mm barrel it makes it a good option. What makes it a a big “No” for me is the lack of an optics cut. It’s a great pistol for the last decade.
Good stuff Q G
Beautiful firearm but NO, I’m not interested in anything that has ammunition availability issues. Thanks for sharing Dan. Lets see that EDC.
You answered you own question. Ammo lack of availability. Some calibers I am just not a fan of and this is one of them. 5.7 is another. .357SIG is another. Odd ball necked pistol rounds just don't interest me. Always consider them novelties. Thanks for sharing.
Well said RBM
@@TheFirearmGuy Its like most folks would pick an MP5 over a P90 simply due to 9mm being more common and available than 5.7. That does not mean that the necked pistol calibers are bad, just that they are not common and available. Personally to me they are novelty calibers and why they don't interest me.
As an oddball type of person, I think it's kind of interesting. 2,000 fps out of a pistol is moving! 50 Jacketed HP for about $25 isn't that bad and it's center fired. I still use iron sites very well, so not having an optic is fine with me. I know the majority vote is gonna be a no, but I wouldn't mind giving it a try!
Ammo that is hard to get is one thing that I want to stay away from. So, the .22 TCM ammo is something that I wouldn't even consider. But if I saw this at a good price, I'd consider it because of the 9mm capability and I'd just ignore the .22 TCM capability.
Appreciate the video !
Thank you Dan. I have never really been interested in this chambering.
Thanks G M
I like the 22 TCM, as a handloader ammo isn't as big of a deal
Good stuff I T
Hey Dan, I got the X Fire and I actually like it. In terms of ergonomics, it is very similar to the CZP07. Of course, the internals are more like a Glock with only the barrel and the magazine being interchangeable. I too had trigger pinch issues due to the trigger safety protruding out, had to polish and smooth it out. The trigger is very heavy coming in at 7.7 lb, but it does have a very nice and clear break. As I have slightly larger hands, it fits in my hand a lot better than other compacts. I hope you are enjoying yours!
I'd grab one if the price was right, not so much for the TCM but to have a nice 1911 in 9mm...the tcm barrel would just be a bonus that I'd use once in a while just for the fun of it. You're right about availability though. If the prices of these guns were better from the beginning, there would have been enough demand to have more than one supplier manufacture the round.
As a sheet metal worker I can relate to your bloody band-aid. Heal up fast Dan!
Thanks tinman
It's an interesting convertible gun and the .22TCM ammo isn't all that expensive. But I'm thinking it's more of a novelty than a practical firearm.
Definitely looks nice! Conversion Barrel is definitely a plus
Hey man I know its not the type of video - but could you do a review of the new citadel side by side coach gun or the heritage badlander coach gun?
Thank you, really like your "is this still relevant?" series. Very informative. Nice gun, the 9 mm option is cool, for me a probably not is the answer. Kind of a novelty
I have 2 versions of this combo, both double stack, 17 round capacities. Great range toys. Double stack 9mm before they became cool
I enjoy the 1911 platform. As long as the Rock Island is not a jam-o-matic, I think it is a very nice handgun. It would make a great range and home defense handgun.if you can find the 22 ammo, that is a bonus. My 22lr conversion kit for my shadow 2 was so expensive. I should have just bought a Taurus TX-22 (awesome range gun).
22TCM is an interesting round, but its downfalls are avaiability and reliability. Sometimes they are reliable and often they aren't. Mostly because of the bottlenecks cartridge in a 1911 platform. 9mm, 45acp, and 10mm are much more reliable simply by being straight walled cartridges. I'm sure yours has been very reliable, but there's plenty that have not been. I'd only trust it as a range toy.
Also needing 2 different brushes for the bore/chamber are a little inconvenient.
RIA 1911s are AWESOME but the 22tcm is not relevant in my opinion and experience. Thanks Dan!
I would really love to see a video on the new Rost Martin, made in Texas pistol! I have heard several rumors about what magazines it takes and will not take and I'm very curious to get your take on the facts.
I don't know about relivant, but it sure looks like a lot of fun. I've actually read some good things about 22 tcm. Anyway, the 9mm conversion makes it more than relivant. Thanks for the series brother
YES VERY RELEVANT,,,
if a person really understands ballistics
the 22TCM,,, is better than the 5.7×28mm
All it needs is more consumer support.....
Imo it excels in short rifles and possibly a sub machine gun.
Yes I would like to have one more of them mine shoots great just so loud
I've never heard of or seen the Ermox. I've been into guns for about 9 years and I'm in some pretty well stocked shops regularly.
I've been into the firearm scene for decades and have only recently seen one for sale in the multiple shops I go to. Probably had it out for a couple of months and they haven't sold one.
The black finish makes it look like Lorcin, Raven, Jennings type of pistol. Just a junky looking pistol. 🤷
@@billparks7368 Yeah, there's some really large shops by me.. And several medium sized ones. And I go to several fairly often. They have three on GUNBROKER, thanks for letting me know I don't want one.
I wish it was relevant, that's a fun cartridge to shoot. Powerful with very little recoil and a built in flash bang (everyone on the range gets a free ear pro test). I built a P80 with the 22TCM9r conversion. Great range toy but ammo availability keeps me from practicing with it enough to make it my carry.
It's a better size cartridge than 5.7x28 and way cheaper than 7.5 fk but unfortunately not as relevant than either....
Now if S&W would just make their folding carbine in 30SC.....
Just for the fact it's a 22 TCM and 9mm it's a keeper. Even as a pretty cool paper weight. You could call it your desk gun.
This seems like one of those cartridges that comes out for a specific task or niche group of shooters every decade or so. I have no idea WHAT task it is though.
You kinda made my answer. With both barrels i would buy it. In 22TCM only no. Im not a fan of 5.7 either. Its a shame the 22TCM cartidge was a blast to shoot. But availability stinks.
Dan, I have ONE RIA remaining. I am simply not happy with the quality of this brand. The one I still have is the Rock Ultra double-stack 10mm. It is SO unreliable, it no longer goes to the range. However, I have found it to be 100% reliable with a high speed Underwood (15--fps) cartridge. For that reason I keep it purely as a home def. firearm. No, I would never buy another RIA product.
You can buy a decent 12g shotgun for $250 (Mossberg Maverick 88 Security pump action) and a decent handgun for $250 (Armscor/Rock Island Armory M200 revolver). Best to steer clear of self-loading firearms at this price point IMO.
👍👍I like it Dan. For someone who is a hand loader that would be a pretty awesome pistol.
Thanks!
Whoa, Von! Thanks so much!!
5.7x28 is more expensive but it's a NATO cartridge and there is more than one manufacturer for the guns and ammo. 22 TCM is restricted to what Rock Island and Armscor puts out so it might be good for the moment but 10 years from who knows.
That’s a great point.
The 22 TCM seems to be an excellent round, just got left behind. With ammo cost and availibility, I would say this pistol is a wall-hanger.
Great content as always Dan. In my opinion if it still goes BANG its Still Relevant.
There are 2 boxes at my local store. They have been there for a few months, I'm guessing not many people are looking for it.
It sounds like it would be a fun range toy, but I have several .22LRs with lots of easy to find ammunition.
A cool gun Dan...that said, unless the 22TCM becomes more common, it will make that feature irrelevant.
That is very nice Dan I like the idea
Much appreciated Les
You could have reviewed the GRB Elite 9mm. The same size as a Glock 19. I have one. The 1st. Gen. Made in Turkey. I care it some times. Good shooter. Thanks Dan. 😊
A 9mm version is fine. A 10mm is even better. Not a fan of overpriced bottleneck rounds that are tough to acquire. In times of uncertainty, you can always find 9mm somewhere. Good luck locating an "exotic" round when the SHTF. Thanks, Dan.
That last pistol is interesting but primarily I'm only interested in 2 calibers with automatics that's the 45 and the 9 mill I still have an old Smith and Wesson 44 magnum but it's not the long barrel. Its the 4 inch barrel that's a hoot to shoot. I have mostly shot only 44 specials in it. Carried the thing when I was on the police department back in the late 60s. We could carry anything back then and I often also would carry a 1911. I know what that pistol can do . l carried 2 in the jungle in the 60s and I can definitely say my life was saved at least twice using one of those when I ran out of ammo for my M14.
Wow, what a comment John. Thanks for your service sir
I picked up the Ermox for $299. It does have a lot of features but it’s just ok. The grip isn’t great so ergos were not the best for me. It looks good and has many features. I planned it to be a range toy but haven’t used it much for that either.
Good stuff 1GunGurl
I’m sure the Ermox is just fine but I too couldn’t shoot it well either.
Thanks Mark. Good to see ya bro
Sign me up! Of course, I just bought a Shield Plus in .30 Supercarry...
Thanks Paul
Yes, it's still relevant if you're willing to train with it and procure the ammo. I feel like every gun pundit is trying to phase out any caliber that isn't 9mm, and frankly, it's lazy and tiring. I could see this being a great caliber for competition and self defense since it's a fast moving and hard hitting round. At 10 yards, this caliber makes will do what it needs to do and 10 rounds in a 1911 is plenty.
After seeing 9mm prices jump in 2020, I see that people have fallen back into complacency. Ammo makers won't expand offerings if people don't try new things.
I remember when Classic Firearms released this Ermox line. This Glock clone and the Benelli M4 clone. But to talk of the 9mm.. They're cool. Not exactly a Glock clone when you get specific.. Parts wise.. But the think ppl didn't like was the trigger. But it's a duty trigger.. 6lbs? But the trigger group is Gen3 Glock, correct? Easy fix. And for a 22 1911?? Let me say... The 22 1911 in the gun world is like pink polos.. Everyone likes them, has one or wants one, but no one will admit it..
I love weird rounds so I like this. The ammo is actually cheap right now and you could by 1000 rounds and stock up. All the review for this gun though seem to show a lot of Jams with the tcm.
I like the 22 TCM... But it's not practical... I would get one if I got a deal on it, but I am not a big fan of weird calibers, personally.
As for the ermox I love mine, but I love metal frame guns.
Short answer- No
Thanks Chris
I've wanted one for a while.
Be interested to know your thoughts on the new ATF rule about private sales of firearms. I’m sure you probably heard about it
I would buy one just because I could. However there are a few on my want list that would take priority.
id rather have it in 9mm or 10mm myself great video dan
If we are imagining that it comes soley as .22 TCM, here in Iowa...just like Michigan it is irrelevant to me. Ammo for it is WAY too hard to find. Same with the .30 Super Carry. Got no use for either if I'm going to A). pay an arm and a leg for the ammo or B). have to order it on-line and pay an arm and leg for the ammo plus shipping.
If the price is right, the gun is pretty cool and would be worth it for the 9mm. barrel alone, and the .22 TCM barrel can stay in the case for eternity.
Interesting video 😊
Thanks brother
Ammo issue's the problem
Clambering a deal breaker for me...looks well made though!
Dan the 2A Man!!! Love RIA but 22 TCM I think it was a misfire on their part.
Never heard of it
It looks awesome to me actually. I like the versatility of having 22 TCM & the 9 Milli, thanks for the video brother 🫡🤝
Appreciate it bud
I don't like either of them Dan. Just not for me but they look good!
Thanks for the feedback Buz
Interesting gun.
Not relative.
Thanks ytown
I think it is still relevant in 9mm. I'm not sure about the 22 TCM.
I thought it was amazing until i saw the fps on 357sig by civil liberty ammo
That weapon just doesn't appeal to me....I don't have any .22 caliber weapons in my collection....actually, I have never heard of that particular round..........excellent video, thanks....
The best CZ is the steel frame 75. Their plastic guns are ok but just don't compete with Glock, S&W , SIG or HK
.22tcm would have worked better in a tokarev length magazine. Sticking with that 45acp length mag really limits projectile length and weight. The 22tcm 9r is practically shooting a pellet. Of course it might not matter. We all know why you don't see any handgun calibers with velocities much over 2000fps.
Well said Mr220
In 9mm, yes. In 22 TCM, NOPE.
No dice!!
It's a neat niche gun, that will appeal to a few, but overall, it isn't relevant to people I know... their attention has turned from RIA and more towards Tisas for 1911s lately.
Hey you sound like a pro wrestler.
Although I like Rock Island products, I wouldn't buy is combo. Just the 9mm part gun.
I don't see a need for it to begin with. There's already 22 mag, now the 5.7 with similar ballistics. There are already 22lr 1911 conversions. The only pro I see is you can use the 9mm mags. The cons are price and availability.
And the 22 mag and 5.7 have multiple platforms. The TCM doesn't.
The 357 SIG is another "why bother" round. 🤷🤦
22TCM out performs 22lr, 22mag, and 5.7
Looks like it makes great fireballs.
No doubt Jon
To me it would come down to can I get the ammo at my local firearms store.
22 TCM; DOA.
Yes, if you're a reloader. No for most people.
Ermox yesssssss....
22tcm heck noooooooo...
I have 8,000 rounds of 9mm and 0 of 22tcm.
Why go hunt for a unicorn.
I hear ya Jman
Oddball ammo like 22TCM makes a gun irrelevant for practical purposes. Only relevancy I see might be for a collection piece. So, no, not relevant. Thanks for another good video!
Hard pass! Even the Pinto car sold for years.😂
The pinto pistol .
@@EricSims-po2uk 🤣
Good analogy
I need to get a 1911 10mm
They are fun Dave
I wouldn’t buy it but only because I’m a small guy with small hands and full-size 1911s always feel like I’m holding a hair dryer. Good looking pistol though!
Thanks Mike
my collection will only contain American made 1911s in 45 or 10mm.
399fpe exactly the same nato spec 124gr 9mm. Only with the recoil turned off. It's philipino space magic. If you are still buying ammo in person you are doing it wrong.
Oh I have this but mine is double stack. The one in this video looks better.
And I just bought 1000 rounds TCM on line. Not bad price but not great.
22 Turner Classic Movies?
Thanks trigger
Glock would be OK for a 1st gun
At 250$ new
Others offer much more for much less
30 super carry was dead on arrival
Thanks Rich
None of them make my heart speed up. Ì love the 357 sig for bottle neck pistol otherwise 10mm all day long
A cool firearm. 😎🇺🇸
This is the first I’ve heard about TCM in a long time, so not relevant. Not when manufacturers are coming out with 5.7 guns.
Hmmmm…… haven’t heard much of the ermox since its debut. Not a Glock guy either.
No. Ammo scarcity/expensiveness makes this a no go. Put in the 9mm barrel and bin the 22tcb-whatever…then, sure. Relevant.
I think it's absolutely still relevant, I'd like to have one, yee-ha.
Cool yes. But ammo is the issue. The gun industry and shooting culture has pretty much focused on 9mm primarily for semi auto production pistols. Followed by 10mm, 380 and 45acp. 40, 357sig, 45gap, 9x18, 32 and 25auto have all fallen off in popularity because the “push” of 9mm being the “standard” round for self defence in semi autos. It’s cost effective for companies to make a single gun in 9mm compared to a gun with multiple caliber options. Along with guntubbers pushing 9mm down our throats. 22, 22mag and 5.7 have had moments in the last few years but most people unfortunately are on the 9mm train. Especially new shooters who believe it’s the only round. Yes it’s cheap, available and a NATO round. But people are unwilling to try other rounds and guns because of the culture following 9mm that it is the all you need round and of course the push of “you need the most capacity” in a gun.
6:14 I’m not so sure about it. It is beautiful though!
Thanks Michael
Hey, you got Glock Finger lol -- not for me on either
If it was $200 and i happen to have an extra $200 in my wallet i would still rather get a high point 9mm and 2 boxes of ammo.
I think many manufacturers are doing themselves a disservice not making allowances for states with restrictions.I know this as a 68 yr old first time gun buyer finding my choices limited.High capacity is a good feature but I've had to bypass many fine weapons due to living in the Communist State of R.I. for example, amongst others.
Neither TCM or 5.7, too many ammo issues
